I would not do anything while on Accoutane-because the medication that is in it (13-cis-retinacid) does not tolerate the other with the same purpose.

I just felt I needed to chime in here - the eggwhite/lemon mask is easily the best topical treatment I've ever tried in my life. You see results in a single application and that same result repeats each night - that's nuts! Doesn't hurt that it also costs about 30 cents per application (if you get eggs in relatively bulk-ish sizes, anyways :P).

So, thank you Delna; you've forwarded these forums a true skin care gem.

i think i irritated my face with the ACV. I ended up with hundreds of tiny sandpaper feeling dots on my temples. not quite sure what it is, you can't see it unless you cast a shadow with hard light.

it faded my red marks though.

i was using 1:1 acv. what are those tiny dots? it's literally like maybe 50 in the space of one finger nail. not really inflamed, the skin is red in that area. feels dry and flaky.

the red marks are normal......should stop in a maximum of 10 days. If it did cause u to break out I would recommend that you dilute the acv a bit more, some people have more sensitive skin, I use 3:1 ratio.

thanks! what should i do about the hundreds of tiny dots on my skin though? they are so small i can barely see them, but i know they are there. i can scratch them off almost, and my skin is flaking, but i don't want to touch them

would BP just aggravate it more?

I'd just leave the tiny dots alone for now..........chances are they'll disappear soon enough just keep an eye on them to see if they improve. Stick to the regime ur using u need to give any regime time to have an effect i.e. at least 3/4 weeks.

okay yeah-i'm just sort of worried that ACV will make the dots even worse?

anyways, the dots are all psychological-no one can see them, i can barely see them. i just don't like the feeling of sandpaper on my skin

thanks for the advice!

how much lemon juice should i use in the mask? 1 teaspoon?

does the amount of lemon juice hav anything to do with the tightening feeling when u put on the mask?

how much baking soda should i use? 1 teaspoon?

Worrying about this stuff is what makes acne this bastard it is. I mean, no one I know goes up REAL close to someones face, notices, say, those red dots, and says "Hey.... hey, what the F*CK are THOSE!?!?!?".

It's ironic, if only we'd stop worrying so much (and trying so hard, often with negative effects (read: acne products)), we could help ourselves better. Oh well, that's life.

i just put a small squirt. the whole mask is only one tablespoon for me.

eggwhite is what tightens. i've done just lemon juice masks and all it does it sting with maybe just a lil bit of tightening.

also, the dots are going away, or at least i can't see them anymore. they do appear to have blackness in them though.... :(

So i hope they aren't erupting as small black dots or clogged pores.

will update further. aloe vera with a SA cleanser two times a day has helped so far in drying without irritating, then soothing/moisturizing

update 12-28: here are some pictures. you can see how they are concentrated at the temples and cluster down following the hairline down to my chin. they are also around my eyes.

is it milia?

I am doing the baking soda every 2 days(every single day was too harsh for my skin) and ACV toner every night

Should I switch it to morning? -Does it make a difference?

WOW. This post is an absolute godsend. I have problems not only with hyperpigmentation from acne, but from a peel that, after being done on my chest, i..uh :shifty: .... Picked at (yes...i know..BAD GIRL ME). I thought that days of only t shirts and make up were ahead of me...this has changed my life. Funny, lol, this is being said only after one use of the mask. Immediately after washing it off, which i have done just now, my face looks AWESOME. And beleive me, i have the deep pigmentation too ( on chest and face). I am also, while not asian, a darker featured person (in eye and hair color), very thick hair, and half sicilian italian. Guess my point is i definetely have the genetics to bring about those long periods of dark, brownish and reddish post inflammatory marks. I have very high expectations about this, and if this keeps up, then will post about my results immediately. ANd oh...btw...this is also a reminder of how ppl should really be treating their skin..as gently as possible...we deserve it! lol THANK YOU DELNA!!!!

love always...and thanks for the support!!

Bonnie k. (:

A 1:8 ratio of ACV to water means that for every one "part" of ACV, there are eight "parts" water. So, for example, if you have a mL of ACV, you should have 8 mL of water in your solution.

I nearly stopped getting active acne a while back through changes in my diet and lifestyle, so getting new breakouts wasn't such a big deal. The red marks left behind from my 'battle' with VERY severe acne are the only annoying skin problem I have now. My red marks are (or, moreso, were) probably one of the worst on this site (basically both of my entire cheeks were covered in damn flat annoying as hell red marks, most of my upper neck, and a good amount on my forehead too). They've had time to fade, and most of them became barely visible, but I still had/have a good amount.

Anyways, to answer your actual question, yes, I've been using the eggwhite/lemon mask for red marks; it works GREAT (upper neck and forehead are clear, and cheeks just have a few left to get rid of). I haven't had any problem with new acne since using the mask, and I don't think that's much of a problem with other people too (plenty of replies here). So... try it.

I'm sitting here with egg on my face! ha- i will let you know how it goes. Delna must be really proud to have helped so many people- and Dan too! Thank you both so much! It's SO frustrating to be plagued with acne and it's great to see so many people sharing and helping each other get better. Good luck to us all!
