hi, delna. i just have a few questions. please forgive me if they've been answered before...
1) can i use regular distilled white vinegar instead of acv? Do they sell acv at regular supermarkets?
2) what do you think of the baking soda method where you let it dry for 15 minutes and wash it off (kinda like a mask) because your bs method is very different (i must try it!
)
btw i completely agree with you about not overdoing it. letting your skin rest and heal is very important!
thanks, delna
Hi Samatk,
You can use white vinegar, though ACV has more antioxidants which is good for the skin. You can get Apple Cider Vinegar is all supermarkets..I get mine from Wal-mart in a big huge bottle and i use it for my face, as a final rinse to my hair after shampoo...everything!!
I have not heard of B.soda mask used all over the face...i dont know if its advisable...it is good when used on individual pimples to reduce inflammation or bring the pus out...but i really dont know abt the mask.
Hope that helped..take care..
i've been doing this regimen for 2 days, and on the first day, i noticed little red pimples on temples and the tops of my cheeks, which i hadn't had before (i don't usually get these kinds of pimples). has anyone else had a reaction like this? it doesn't hurt or anything, but i don't want to continue if this is not just an initial purging thing because i cannot deal with more red spots!
Hey Delna!
Thanks so much for sharing your regimen with us.
Just wanted to ask you a quick question:
When making the egg/lemon mask do you simply crack open an egg, stir the egg white and add lemon juice? Also, approximately how many drops of lemon juice do you add to the egg white ?
2. How many days/week do you think you should use the egg/lemon mask?
Thanks
I just have one question in regards to Delna's regimen.
In terms of the egg white mask, do I need to pat dry after I cleanse before applying the mask? Would it matter if my face was wet and applied the egg mask, essentially diluting the mask?
Just like Dan's regimen I would like to follow this to the 'T'. I have read all 54 pages and this is the only thing I haven't understood.
As I understand these are the steps (let me know if I am wrong):
Morning:
- Cleanse with gentle cleanser
- Apply Baking soda + water and immediately wash off
- Apply ACV and wait till dries (10mins) and wash off and pat dry
- Apply BP
- Apply mositerizer
Evening
- Cleanse with gentle cleanser (pat dry??)
- Apply egg white + lemon mask until dries (10mins) and wash off and pat dry
- Apply BP
Correct? Thanks
1:10 ratio of Apple cider vinnegar - I want to start at the bottom and work up to avoid breakouts
I actually use 1:20 for my vinegar. I worked out that the Ph with that ratio would be about 4.5, which is the bottom end of what skin normally goes to. I figure going lower than that could irritate. I tried 1:10 once but my skin went immediately red; and I broke out over the next week.
You might get away with 1:10 if you slap something on top, but I don't necessarily recommend it.
Higher mixtures seem to be more of a skin peel; depends what effect you're trying to achieve.

Wait so you use 1 part apple cidar vinegar and 20 parts water? Doesnt that just water it down way to mucha nd its basically just water?

You'd think so, but as far as I can tell ph is logarithmic so it works out about right.
(n.b. this dilution is suitable for just leaving on- I think higher solutions you must wash them off afterwards... that's got a lot to do with it.)
i've been lurking around this board for quite sometime, and think that it's absolutely awesome. people who are tired of spending hundreds of dollars (and more) at the dermatologist need somewhere to vent *points to self*, and this seems to be the place to be...haha. a while ago, i had posted in this forum. just wanted to see what everyone else was doing. i tried the neosporin method for quite some time and that worked well on my cystic acne (brought their size down slowly), and i did this particular regimen as well (baking soda, ACV, and egg white/lemon mask) and my mother said it was the best my skin had ever looked. and then i stopped doing it because new and exciting things were coming out on the market and they were all the "next best thing!" to clear acne scars and post red marks. well, needless to say, my skin has been pretty crappy since then.
i'm 21 and never had acne as a teenager. the pill (birth control) that i was taking for quite a few years was working fine, but there was a couple of MINOR break outs later on (i'd give anything to just have THOSE damn things back! should have never switched..ugh) so i switched my pill and it went horrible. acne pimples were popping up like crazy and NOW i was left with red marks and scarring. this all started nearly two years ago. i'm now back on the birth control i was before (and have been for nearly a year) and things aren't so bad. still a couple of break outs here and there, but now it's down to scarring.
i broke down a couple of weeks ago and went to the dermatologist and was given a new cleanser and tazorac gel and an antibiotic and told to throw everything else out. things are doing okay as of now, regarding active acne. they recommended microdermabrasion for the scarring (which i understand i'm probably going to need if i want these to fade to near-non-existence or whatever).
i guess my main question is...(finally! i'm getting to the point! haha) who else on here has some minor acne bumps/pimples (like, around 5 bumps/pimples) and the rest of the stuff clogging the face is scars and red marks? my red marks and scars are restricted to small patches on my cheeks and my chin area (like a big "U"). my forehead and nose are completely clear. if you do, did you see success with this particular regimen? i'm just thinking of throwing it in there for the heck of it, because honestly, these things have been around for a good two years now and i REALLY can't afford the $150+ sessions for microdermabrasion (regardless of what "payment plans" they have to offer. i'm a college student! enough said! hahaha).
any feedback would be appreciated. good luck to everyone! thanks for letting me waste space!
dont use the whole egg, u can save some of it for the next day. anyways i dont know what u mean, but just whip it for like 25 seconds, apply lemon and mix it for a few seconds.
by the way i dont think its that good for your acne, i think the baking soda and apple cider vinegar work better for acne. the mask is good, but better for red marks.
