This is probably a stupid question....what exactly is 'apple cider' vinegar?? I live in Scotland and i've never seen it before, but then again i don't go shopping for vinegar all that often! So does anyone who lives in the UK know where to get it?

I've missed out the last few pages of this thread so maybe someone has already answered this, but I saw it in Sainsbury's the other da amondst the oils and salad dressings and things like that.

I tried this regimen and started getting small spots around the nose and mouth area. I believed it was attributed to the messy eggwhites and lemon, so I stopped using the mask and it's cleared up.

Why aren't you supposed to have the egg-yellow in the mix, btw?

How come only the white?

Morning 1

I woke up and the first thing I thought of was if anything I did last night worked which was:

Baking powder (not soda) scrub

1:10 ratio of Apple cider vinnegar - I want to start at the bottom and work up to avoid breakouts

And the mask.

My first impression:

WOW

It seemed my red marks have faded dramticly, I'll keep doing this nightly, but one question. Even with such a low concentrate ACV mixture, my face was still a little red when I applied, but when I woke up this morning I saw no bad effects. Should I keep using this delna? Anyone?

Which are we supposed to use? Baking soda or baking powder?

W-A-R-P-E-D..ok now here's some good news for u smile.gif !! who says blackheads cannot be squeezed??..why of course u can squeeze them...+ thats the only way u can get them out..but theres a way to do it. U have to get ur skin soft before doing it or u will have to put extra pressure while squeezing and of course it will leave marks. if i have a blackhead, i cleanse my face, wash with baking soda paste (this alone will loosen the blackhead)..and see if has come loose. if yes, i wd squeeze gently with fingertips covered with soft cloth. if not, i steam my face. its sure to come out then! then i apply ACV to close the pore. RESULT?? no/very faint red marks that fade soon. Try it.

for ur red marks, try this regimen. it will work if u do it religiously.

Una..i prefer to do it spaced out coz that way skin will be clean twice a day.

kitkat..hope this works for u. Good Luck! cool.gif

wisky..as long as u r doing it right, dont worry if u dont get the 'crack-a-smile' effect..it may be coz u r using too much of eggwhite..which is not a bad thing at all.. this regimen works for acne as well. coz vinegar is anti-bacterial with natural Alpha hydroxy acids, b.soda is pore cleanser and the protein mask keeps pores tighter and skin squeeky clean and smooth..so bye-bye breakouts!! okay..and why not use the eggyolks in the mask? coz of the effect it has on the nose..!!.lol.. lol.gif .

HELLRaZerX..u r doing it right. no probs. it drips for me too but i try to paste it back on my face eusa_shifty.gif , lol!

letskillsomeacne, if ur face gets irritated after b.soda or the mask, then ur skin is too dry from the bp u r using. either reduce the amount of bp or moisturise well. try Dove Essential nutrients with SPF 15. its just awesome.

doberwoman...HEY NOW eusa_snooty.gif ...dont tease me eusa_naughty.gif , ok??????????????????????..... lol.gif

wikka_way..b.soda paste is used like a wash. just massage it gently on ur clean face and wash. u shdnt use it as a mask.

update on my skin...

ok i am writing this after staring at my face for a good 5 mins in my hand-mirror which i placed close to a window for the best view. i hadnt realised its been a hell of a long time since i stared at my face like this! earlier i used to spend hrs scrutinizing my red marks and spots. Now i feel so confident that sometimes i go on out with just my sunscreen and powder on...no make-up!!

My skin is not perfect..i have a few dark red marks (most recent ones) and the rest of my cheeks have faded red marks..they r very faint and can be completely covered with light make-up and powder. i have a few boxscars on my cheeks..but they dont bother me at all now that my bugging red marks have faded much. i might try a laser peel later on to correct that. As of now..Im very happy with my skin..poor thing has been thru a lot (what with all my abuse eusa_shifty.gif !!)..and now its kinda happy that its left alone and forgotten abt..!!

So this isn't just a red marks regime? It's both an acne regime but aswell as a regime for your "skin" itself? smile.gif

Hey delna!

This is my first post on this forum, I've been looking for some help, and it seems like you've struck gold on a great and cost-efficient formula! Hi to all you other forum people too smile.gif

Just to let you all know on my situation, I've been getting mild acne I guess, but I've tried using proactiv. I'm using it right now, and it fixed some stuff, but I get these red pimples or cysts where I don't usually get them (before I used proactiv), mainly on my cheeks (1 or 2 every few weeks). They take FOREVER to go away too, and they are annoying because I've never had acne there before, especially acne of that type.

My question is, I'm going to start using this regimen with some of the proactiv products in order to avoid getting massive breakouts from not using proactiv (that's what I've read) - is that ok? Or is that overload? I hope this regimen can help clear my skin and also prevent that cheek acne from occuring!

Thank you all, any help will be appreciated!

W-A-R-P-E-D...u have to find out if u have milia or acne. depending on that u can chose a cream which suits ur skin condition. this is important coz u wont want to wait till it worsens(if at all it does).

lo7lonsa..b.soda is basic and vinegar is acidic. when u use these together the ph of ur skin becomes neutral. clear skin has neutral pH. u broke out after b.soda wash coz ur skin ph became basic & was not balanced with something acidic. if u r apprehensive abt vinegar, try lemon/lime water to wash ur face after cleansing with b.soda. its also acidic and it will balance ur skin pH. but whatever u do, moisturise well. this will keep ur skin supple and protect it from scarring.

wisky..it helped my red marks first..then i noticed i am not breaking out anymore..hence proved!! biggrin.gif lol!!

potentiallycute...pls dont do the same mistake as i did. i have used proactiv before..and their cleanser was breaking me out like crazy..but i was determined to give it some time..ya..baffled by seeing the befores and afters of the infommercial of course sad.gif ..but my skin worsened..i started getting cysts..and it was 10 times worse than it ever was. i was devastated. i thought..enough is enough!! then i stopped their cleanser..suprisingly...i started clearing up. i used up all my repairing lotion (coz it has bp..its the only good stuff among the three..i dont like the toner either),,then i switched to Neutrogena OTS. im happy with it. the state my face was in..u wont believe that i cleared up with this simple regimen. Its true that good things come in small packages!!

for my regimen u need to use a simple cleanser coz b.soda is an exfoliator. so Proactiv cleanser is a complete NO-no! also ACV is a toner..so proactiv toner is a no-no..u can use their bp if u like..but in my experience neutrogena OTS is way better. Also buy a good moisturiser like Dove Essential Nutrients with SPF.

my advice? return ur Proactiv kit and get a refund. u wont regret it. there r better things in the market.

Hope this helps. TAKE CARE!

Thanks for the quick reply delna!

I will take your advice and stop using the cleanser .. I think we both had the same problems, I can see some stuff clearing up (like my forehead) but then it's counteracted by getting huge red things on my cheeks sad.gif I'm new to this stuff, so what is a good cleanser? Is it something like Neutrogena Deep Clean Cream Cleanser (I used this before, it has SA in it though)? Or a bar type soap ... I'm going to go out today to get some of this stuff so I want to make sure I get it right smile.gif I will try to get the moisturizer too, but I don't understand, I thought moisterizers clog up our pores?

i suppose a non-comedomegenic/non-acnegenic moizturizer would help. I don't know any brands, however...

hi,

delna, thanks for your tips. i dont use your regimen every day, but i do the bs and acv a couple times a week, and i do like the effects it has. just so everyone knows my story, ive had mild acne for years, but it went out of control once i started a birth control pill that i stopped a couple months later. i'm now on antibiotics and benzaclin, and my skin is clearing up nicely, but i do have the red marks. these are getting much much better. ive been following this thread, and then i saw my dermatologist who told me this regimen couldnt hurt. she also told me, though, that swimming really does wonders for the red marks. so i've been swimming, and this is the reason i had to register to tell everyone: swimming REALLY improves the red. i know it's not easy for everyone to find a pool, but if you can do it, i highly recommend it. i think you will see an improvement in very little time. after just a few trips to the pool, the chlorine starts fading the red. it helps for active acne as well.

good luck, everyone.

Delna -- I wasn't teasing you, honest eusa_angel.gif -- judging by the size of this thread, you've helped loads of people here, so you have become a sort of mini-celebrity, at least on this website smile.gif

im worried about using the vinegar as i have sensitive skin

lo7lonza -- not sure if this will help you, but I've replaced the dilute vinegar with a toner made from equal parts rose water and lemon juice. I chose that because on another thread someone said that it helps to fade red marks. So far, it seems to be working as well as the vinegar (fingers crossed!). I changed over mainly because I didn't like the smell of the vinegar though. Someone made a comment about me smelling of vinegar recently, and so I started feeling self-conscious. I guess if the rose water/lemon doesn't work out I can try to disguise it with perfume or something...

well, there's 16 pages to this thread....but 95% of it is just people asking questions. doubt.gif No one's really quite posting success stories. eusa_think.gif

So anywho, I had to give this a shot. I'm a huge fan of Dan's regimen (and his glorious BP gel) wub.gif I've been on the regimen for over a year and have been completely clear of active acne for 9 months eusa_pray.gif The only thing remaining are the red marks.

Since the miracle of becoming clear, I was not planning on doing anything about the red marks, aside from letting time fade them. I'm terrified of doing anything to destroy the success the regimen has given me. BUT i've grown tired of these f**** red marks, and have decided to give Delna's advice a shot.

I've been doing the BS and ACV for two weeks now. I have 5 new pimples cry.gifsad.gifeusa_wall.gif I had not had a pimple for nine months straight before i tried this! it figures the moment i try something new, i break out cry.gif It's doing nothing for my red marks, either. sad.gif I really hoped this would be the answer!!! sad.gif

Does anyone know if there's supposed to be an initial breakout?? I'm not sure if I should just persevere with this regimen or what eusa_wall.gif
