Hi Delna!
Yes they are your Kitchen Gods haha... well my progress... it's been 9 days already. Sad to tell you that on the 7th day, I applied a new foundation to cover the marks when I went to work.. and I had a strong allergic reaction to the foundation which gave me swollen skin and very itchy and irritated patches. I looked absolutely disastrous, not to mention that I have foiled the progress of your regimen! I quickly used egg mask when I went home, skipped the BS and ACV as I have to let the skin calm down before restarting the full regimen. Thankfully after 2 days, my skin has recovered but it's flaking due to the swelling subsiding. Tonight, I used the BS back again, then followed by ACV with 1:8 concentration and applied the egg + lemon mask again, but this time I added Manuka Honey into the mask. Wow! Much better... ! The redness has subsided further and my skin is very supple and moisturised. Yes you are right about doing adequate research. I have been stealing time off during office hours just to look up on natural home remedies and I come across alot of masks recipes with Honey added to it, even Oatmeal. The properties of Honey is amazing. I has Hydrogen Peroxide that can help shed and exfoliate, reduce inflammation, an excellent antibacterial agent, and helps in improving acne. I read somwhere that acne bacteria is sensitve to Manuka Honey. All I did was add a teaspoon of Manuka Honey... dip cotton pads into the runny mask... and paste in on my face for better absoption. It is wonderful. My skin is rejuvenated, much softer and supple. Reduce redness by about 25%. I just leave it for about 1hour then wash it off with warm water. You may wanna try it yourself! I will do more research on it and also incorporating Oatmeal as another moisturizing mask. Oh yeah, adding honey into the Egg+lemon mask will not dry or leave your skin tight. So i guess it's a good balance of refining and moisturizing your skin. Okie... Amazing race is on now! Catcy you all later.
hi doll, lemon juice used alone can be an irritant for some sensitive skin. i have tried it a long time ago..my skin was so red! just like vinegar it has a ph of 3 or 4. so its acidic. if u want u can dilute it well before applying. but its safer + more effective if mixed with eggwhite . if u like to experiment, do a test patch first. same is the case with ACV. do a patch test..if ur skin can take it..why not??
SteveLewis, if i were you, i'd throw that cleanser FAR FAR AWAY ASAP!! bp washes r so so so irritating not to mention it makes the skin feel like a desert! pls pls stop using Triaz. and dont touch that b.soda and ACV till ur skin comes back to normal. try using Dove sensitive bar soap for cleansing and Dove essential nutrients moisturiser with SPF 15 alone for a few days till ur skin is normal. these 2 products have done wonders for my skin. u can resume ACV and B.soda later on.
memorandum, twice a day BS will be too much exfoliation for ur skin. pls dont overdo it..cleanser will take all ur make up, dirt etc off..whereas B.soda wont..so dont stop that. cleanser + b.soda will not be harsh for u. if its a hassle in the morning, why dont u try doing it in the evening before bed? u can try putting ACV all night if ur skin can take it. and yes, if u do that, it wil be better if u moisturise. for active acne, try warm compresses and b. soda paste on pimples alone. i have described this in one of the first few pages of this thread.
HELLRaZerX....no problem...i love answering questions !! if the 100% eggwhites u mentioned does not contain any preservatives which might irritate the skin, u can use it. check the ingredients..
skincarefanatic, wisky....GOOD LUCK!
goldengirl, yes dry skin does indicate unbalanced ph. its difficult to maintain the balance now that its winter. ACV does not cause dryness if skin is moisturised well afterward. try Dove Essential nutrients moisturiser with SPF 15. i LOVE this lotion..it does not break me out. the burning sensation after B.soda is probably because the skin is too dry. ask them to moisturise twice a day. morning and night after their acne cream. also, have u changed their cleanser?
cattalyst..the best(& easiest) way to make an eggwhite frothy is using a fork! but if u have the time...u can experiment, lol!!
cucumber juice..sorry to hear abt ur allergic reaction. glad u r okay. try Prescriptives exact matchstick foundation..it does wonders for me. its not greasy either. manika honey sounds good! i wd have loved to try that..but i think im allergic to honey..ive tried it before in one other mask .and it broke me out..i dont know if its coz i left it on all night. also i had used ordinary honey. is manuka honey different than others??
Great. Found a site worth reading re Acne.
I'm 32 and thought I had it beat this summer - my best ever... I'm in the UK so the little bit of what we call summer really seems to help + I got a gf = less stress. but now shes gone and the winters here an me spots is worse than its been for years. I recently started using neat vinear am and pm - this has (no doubt you say) made it worse - understatement, although it does appear to have cleared a lot of blackheads.
So I now intend, after reading this site for hours, to try the Delna regime. (I write this with egg white+lemon drying on my face).
Purchasing what I dont have of the ingredients tomorrow...I mean today, already..
I'll be sure to post my progress.... not lookin forward to teaching tommorow.
Thanx again.
I have read a lot of the posts here and was wondering if anyone on DIFFERIN has been doing this regimen. It is now evening and so Im gonna start - not sure if I should do the BS/ACV morning or night. I haven't been putting any acne cream on in the morning, but was thinking of starting doing 2.5% BP.
For now though, Im just gonna start with this natural stuff and perhaps add the morning BP later..any other Differin people?? If so, when should I exfoliate and tone??
Hi Delna,
Yes, the Manuka Honey additional to the Egg+Lemon mask really helped in soothing the skin when I had that bad reaction to my new cover foundation. After 2 nights, it's less inflammed. I hope it can speed up the cure progress. I am still researching on Manuka Honey... but here is a clip of what the site says:
How Can Active Manuka Honey Be Helpful?
Dr Peter Molan from the Honey Research Unit has been testing the antibacterial properties of honey for 18 years. He states: "Active UMF Honey has a unique 'drawing factor' that soaks liquid and nutrients which bacteria feed on, out of a wound it is applied to. It also painlessly lifts off dead tissue, scab or burnt skin and keeps the wound moist, which aids healing."
With the above in mind, active manuka honey is used in many skincare products to assist the healing and repair of dry, cracked, sunburnt, irritated, infected or damaged skin. Used on healthy skin, the unique antibacterial, soothing and moisturising qualities of active manuka honey, helps keep normal skin smooth and supple.
Which is exactly what I experience. I just soak cotton pads into the mask mixture and slapstick it onto my acne place (which by the way leaves me with very lil skin to see) haha. I leave it on for 1.5 hours, remove and take my shower and when I come outta it, the hard blackheads on my nose comes out so easily, without much pressure. My nose is clear now... and very smooth. My Dermalogica therapist also mentioned that dry skin is a bad condition for active acne, as the clogged pores remain covered with even more dead skin. Because your skin is still oily underneath it, the dry skin on the surface only deters the oil from breathing out. It's still important to leave your skin hydrated.
Sad to say, till this day I can't find any OTC which can spot treat me. I purchase the Neutrogena OTS and it left me with red burning marks (one of the contributing factors to seeing slow progress on yr regimen for the red scars). So I just moisturise without spot treating now. But I noticed that though my acne is still active, I don't see many new blackheads developing on my jaw anymore. And I think it's greathly due to the ACV. THe active ones are accumulated black/white heads from last time now having a ball on my skin. I hope after this flareup... I can have some chance to just treat the marks only.
BTW, I am taking more interest to look for natural remedies now. But the hunt continues...
Take care all.
I posted (very) early this morning about having started a regime of my own, before I found this site. I'd started to brake out with active acne after a clear period during the summer, and it was refusing to clear.
I decided to strip away the top layer of skin - it looked like it was preventing any blackheads being cleared with my usual routine. I had read somewhere that not only is it the P.acne bacteria that causes acne, but also that some people have over active skin development trapping the acne - anyone else heard this?
Anyway I started a regime of a facial scrub folllowed by neat application ACV (using soaked cotton pads which I rubbed as with a cleanser!) then moistureiser, morning and night.
I realise this was overkill but my intention was to remove
them damn blackheads.
It did. After about 2 weeks (owwch) my black-heads - which seemed to fill every damn pore - reduced by about 70%. Even some of the stubborn ones from my snout. I also now have no active acne. they is all dead.
BUT... I now have (and I suppose I sorta knew somin bad would happen, but, well, you kinda get desperate, don't ya) LOTS of red marks (or in some cases sores)- see you knew I was posting in this topic for a reason...
So now its repair time... and some Delna treatment. Started today and already impressed even without any BP.
Anybody else feel like they go through a cycle.... ?
I'm clearish (never fully) often because I've determined not to be so harsh with the cleansing but then after a few weeks / month at most I then enter a re-lapse and the gentle approach refuses to work, so I go harsh on it to clear the skin pores out (which I rightly or wrongly blame as the underlying cause) which inevitably harms any active acne and causes lots of red marks, so I get back to the gentle approach to heal myself which leaves me clearish again... and ready to start the cycle again....
hopin on the Delna / Dan regime....
an yeah that Manuka is well good... might be into that.
Anyways I need to go do me BS, EWL & M thang
ACV almost always caused irritation to my skin...I get results but then back track. I use ACV about three times a week and after a LOT of trial and error this seems to be the best. Its still diluted and I may even cut it back some more but all in all my skin is looking much better.
how long does this regime take to see results? and will it break out my skin? also i have SENSITIVE skin so will there be any negitive things that couild come out of this...i just have on spot were red marks are cause i did stupid microdermabrasion and it brought WAYYY NEGITIVE pimples and they left huge red marks just in one spot now face is clear and just want to get rid of that spot?...should i just do the viniger/baking soda on this spot nightly? someome helPPPPPP
jeffers...GOOD LUCK! pls let us know ur progress.
kitkat, im not sure if u can use lemon while on Differin. I think astringents, lime etc can irritate ur skin if its already red, peeling or sensitive due to Differin. when ur skin is that irritated, vinegar also is a BIG NO-NO! pls ask around before u start this regimen. also, u shdnt use bp while on differin. it will be too much for ur skin. u shd use only one anti-acne product at a time. take care.
letskillsomeacne..i love ur name, lol ! it shows determination and patience, which is the first step in any regimen
!! im not sure i understood ur question correctly...
'I was wondering does this whole 8 steps interfere with the whole system of regimen?'
did u mean if my regimen interferes with Dan's regimen?? if thats what u asked...NO, NOT AT ALL!! since Dans regimen includes bp too..only thing here i stress that too much of bp shdnt be used as it can make ur skin extremely dry..and hence prone to more red marks and scarring. this is just my opinion. im sure many wd disagree.
cucumber juice...thanks for that info!! manuka honey sounds great for its soothing properties..i will surely try it some day. i was confused when u wrote abt the burning marks OTS caused u when u tried to spot treat. did u just put on some just on the spots without massaging it in? because its unlikely to burn if its massaged in.
Adam, let me give u a tip...after ur Acv dries, try putting on a little moisturiser. it will help calm ur skin...and u will not lose the benefit of ACV either!
hi una13ombr..results vary with different skin types. i cannot say for sure how long it will take u..but u will begin to see improvement in 3-4 days. this alone will motivate u to keep doing it religiously till u find that one fine day all ur marks r gone!! if u have only minor red marks...why dont u start with the eggwhite/lemon mask? that alone will help. if u want to try the whole regimen..but u r not sure if ur sesitive skin can take it or not..then u can try a patch test before putting it all over ur face. try it on ur arms first..wait for 2 days..then try it behind ur ears..then on one part of ur face...if u r fine with it, u can do it all over. GOOD LUCK.
hey, just want u guys to know something..im getting lots of pms from u all and my mailbox is full ! most of them are questions abt the regimen..some of them are thanku's and some of them are angry letters for not getting a reply
! im so sorry for not being able to reply to each one of u personally..i really wish i could...but i do try to answer a few which r not discussed in the thread. most of the questions are answered in the thread and thats why i dont answer those personally. u just have to do a quick reading thru the thread..im sure u will find ur answers. PLEASE bear with me...no ANGRY MAILS, okay??

hi una...u r welcome!!
actually the combination of both egg mask and b.soda/acv worked for me. eggwhite/lemon mask is a protein mask..it will not cause break-outs. i remember ur pm..u asked how to get the eggwhites alone..easiest way is to just make a hole on top of the egg and tilt it. the eggwhite will come out first. hope that helps...
Hey everyone - i don't really have bad acne - i just have had blackheads which i get depressed over and squeze them. now i have these red marks/blotches appear on my face - the worsen wen i am warm. how can i get rid of them? how long wll they be there for and will this regimine work for me/them. please help me - have no confidence anymoredue to this - cheers

This is something I found on a pharmaceutical website..might be helpful for other people on Differin as well. I'm still not sure though whether I should do the full regimen though while on Differin....I keep getting conflicting answers!
"DIFFERINAazA topical gel has potential for local irritation and it is possible that concomitant use of peeling agents, astringents or irritant products may produce additive irritant effects. However cutaneous antiacne treatments e.g. erythromycin, clindamycin phosphate (1% as the base) solutions or benzoyl peroxide water based gels up to 10% may be used in the morning when Differin gel is used at night since no mutual degradation or cumulative irritation occurs with these products.
I'm veeeery uncertain on this egg-mask..
I cant seem to get the same results as you guys?
What i do..is to take an ordinary egg....crack it open... pour out the white in bowl.... (hand)-whip it.... add the lemon....
But my face don't get the "can't crack a smile effect"..
What am i doing wrong? Anybody?
Thanks for replying! I have been on DIfferin for a long while now, and the skin really isn't irritated by it at all, I think its used to it. If anything, its just a bit dry due to the cold weather (Im in CT). I have mild acne on my upper lip and chin and currently no active ones, just flat red marks and some raised ones that should be flat soon.
I have been doing your regimen now for two and a half days and think I see an improvement in the health of my skin overall, but am not sure if the improvement in red marks is just due to regular old time, or these new actions. I will do some research on doing these things while on DIfferin just to make sure before I continue.
Hey Delna,
Thanks for your reply. What I wanted to ask was if your reigmen interfere with Dan's. I suppose it doesn't but my face really gets red, irratated and dry after I scrub with baking soda.
Should I not do it everyday? and scrub for less than 10 seconds perhaps? And I found out that if you leave the egg/lemon mask on for too long, it will really irrate your skin instead of soothing your skin. Thanks for all the informations you post. You've been wonderful.
