LaViv looks really promising for atrophic acne scars. Does anyone know who the other three derms are who are able to perform this procedure? I know there was one doc from San Diego involved in the research, but I was never able to find an actual office for him. I signed up for their information list a long time ago and have never heard anything.

I would really like to try the LaViv treatment. I wonder how much longer it has to go until it has FDA approval for acne scars. Going by that pdf presentation they should be at least halfway to approval by now I'd think, possibly even further.

i think it will be approved for scars rather soon either by february or march cause its already approved for fine lines..and i think some doctors are ALREADY using it for scars

As far as I can tell, the only thing confirmed about these stem cell treatments is that they improve healing time, but not necessarily results.

There certainly hasn't been any substantial comparative studies, that's for sure.

The side effects haven't been fully examined either. There are early reports of weird nodules growing in areas where stem cells (or a similar treatment) were applied, but even those are sketchy at best. There simply hasn't been enough research, and I am somewhat angered by the fact that doctors are using PAYING patients as guinea pigs for this type of treatment.
