i also suffered from AMVC in november 2016 and upto two months i got too many shallow linear scard everywhere on my face that time i dont have a single acne and nor any acne treatment but AMVC happened to me that time
but that year due to my pox scars and my hypertrophic scars and moles on face i was depressed whole day and night
i think its linked to maybe depression ?
now in 2018 i got acne and scars from it(scarred pored and tiny ice pick like scar)
anyway AMVC is not rare i see this in most of my friends
good thing is AMVC scar are too much shallow and not deep like pox or acne scars and it fill up with time mostly
I am like you guys. I am depressed and I see new scars creating every day. My skin is too dry and scalp too. All this started after a bad Ha filler I had from a doctor and hyaluronidase sessions. Then I started having hair thinning and new scars. Before some days I did a bentonite clay mask(I had no problem before) and since then I have 6-7 new linear scars. I also experience doughnut effect when I put some moisturizer or castor oil/comfrey oil. I am taking some supplements(multivitamin, zinc, vitamin d3,msm,vitamin c and sometimes omega 3),i try to eat healthy but this thing it's getting worse. Everything I am depressed or stressed my skin developing lumps and redness.. Wtf ? I started oregano oil cause I think it's from gut issues but I'm not sure. Can anyone help?
Edit:All that started after using airol/Tretinoin at night and 1 dermapen session.

https://ggenereux.blog/2015/02/12/eca/ (pls read it and share whatever info u can get and advice us poor souls who are suffering from this solutions if u can understand the article)
in summary, it means we are toxic in vitamin a which is obviously. the liver is full loaded with vit a, it store the excess in skin. when skin is full loaded too, it burned tissues cells, dissolves collagen in the skin.
Quote from that link:
"Therefore, I think it is far more likely that the retinoic acid (or some other form of retinol) is building up in the tissue, and dissolving collagen, and this chemical is destroying cells. These tissue cells are under attack from this toxin and they are sending out some signal to the immune system for help. The immune cells are rushing in to the fight; but they are not equipped for this battle. The body has just not evolved for this. This is the livers job to protect the body from this potential toxin. But, the liver is maxed out; it is now sidelined, and of no help. Thus, free retinol is relentlessly entering the bloodstream with every meal. We are now in subclinical toxicity; it only appears to be an immune disease that is causing the destruction."which is why when i use rosehip oil(heard to be high in vit A) or even do seaweed mask(somehow contain vit A), i have new depressed scars. it scares me when i use this kind of gentle products and it give me new scars.
as for why exfoliation give me new scars i dont know why too. for sure its link to the full loaded vit A in my skin.
and in this link: https://www.healthextremist.com/how-i-got-vitamin-a-toxicity/ , there are comments of people giving advice on vitamin a toxicity.
This is interesting, but what does it mean for those of us who never used a vitamin A topical or never went on Accutane? Ive never used either yet have experienced AMVC-like symptoms since February 2013. Symptoms stopped by the end of that year and I was ok for nearly 4 years until recently, a 1-inch long linear scar formed on my face. Not super deep but unfortunately where it is, makes it super noticeable. See below:
This has been going on with me for over two years now. I want my smooth skin back! It is constantly on my mind. So far I have been unsussessful getting my family doctors to refer me to a dermatologist. I do not like going out in public. My face is the first thing others see about me. I just happened to Google One more time rephrasing my question to: What causes depressions/ scars on my face out of nowhere? It brought me here.
It sounds like I have a lot in common with all those who responded. Has anything helped remove the scars? If so what? PLEASE HELP ME! THANK YOU!

You can try microneedling or going for heavier lasers. The problem is, there isnt a cure for any of this scarring. You can spends thousands of dollars like I did and have all the work in vain if new scars show up.
Youre playing catch up with something you cant catch up to. Its pretty hopeless.
This seems like an auto-immune issue. I suspect white cells are attacking healthytissue for no apparent reason resulting in random scarring. I don't believe it's true scaring because they vanish at some point from my experience.
My skin issues are numerous. I've had pretty bad acne all my life and after years of constant breakouts, my face no longer has any more but I've got pockmarks, true scars. Acne eventually gave rise to folliculitis which is what I struggle with currently on my body. I also have KP on my legs for years and latelymy face keeps getting red at random timessuggesting some sort of dermatitis like eczema. The condition is itchy and my skin keeps flaking. After the redness subsides, my face forms indented lines which resemble wrinkles. My skin doesn't bleed or scab. I look like a burn victim for weeks until I regain my old skin colour back few weeks later until the process restarts again.
I've had these linesfor years since I was a child and developed many more as a teenager. My zitsprobably made me forget about them. They come and go, old ones vanish after several years butnew ones form a few months later. I never really paid attention to them as I thought of them as a mere nuissance and many people seem to have themespecially teenagers. Older people do not. It seems they disappear with age.
I don't mind these random lines, dealing with zitshoweveris a pain. The tiny pockmarks are an unwelcomed gift that I would love to get rid of one day.
I never took Accutane until last year for the first time in my thirties to finally clear my back from years of cystic bacne. It did wonders and I didn't experience any bad systems apart from the dryness. My face started to flake about 5 years or so so Accutane has nothing to do with it.
I also happened to suffer from staphylococcus infection or MSRA when I was a child and have a ton of scars from that as well.
I do believe that acne prone people in general are more susceptible to skin infections. I am lucky that my genetics help me heal with unsightly scars but all these random scars appearing suddenly must have something to do with skin infections that go unnoticed. Other factors like certain medications must trigger the body to attack healthy skin randomly too.
more than 100% correctmybeautifuscars
these are not true scars
ialso have these scars but these are not true scars and only indentation in skin like happens with wrinkles or shallow rolling scars
when u observe amvc scar closely u see pores in it but in true scars like pox scars or injury scars u cant see anythink like pores in dents
and good thing is that i also had that but with time (i suffered from this in 2016 november) in 2 yrs the very shallow one disappeared and deep ones has filled upto i can say 30-40% so chill these scars will fill over time but just dont make ur immune weaker
people with strong immune also have this disease but they end up with only 1 or 2 scars (happened with my 1 brother and some of my friends) i know they have strong immunity as they rarely fall ill and their wounds heal very very fastly.
i had very weak immunity and i got approx 7-8 scars from it
so stay strong during this disease
i don't know if your still around but I'm suffering this and i figured out what causes this AMVC... extreme stress that causes inflammation under the skin that doesn't show as a bump or redness... it basically happens when I'm extremely stressed or angry to the point my skin flushes the thing is when i say flush it doesn't mean redness it can show up as sweat with some people in other words it's when your blood is flowing a lot more than usual... when i calm down i would notice the scars the next day or a few days later...

I dont know about stress, but many agree on here thate something causes the inflammation which leads to the random scarrinng.
Its frustrating not seeing more responses in this thread.
Any updates on this? Like many other's I have been experiencing random scarring as well as wrinkling that follows no real pattern. This damage usually occurs in unison with crawling and itching (formication), almost like nerves misfiring in the face. I have been experiencing this on and off for 4/5 yrs. I also have Lyme disease which may be playing a part but have not read about this symptom anywhere else in regard to links with Lyme.

Ive had those exact same crawling sensations for 6 years now, along with the spontaneous scarring. Sensations have alsoincluded twitching/prickling senstions on my scalp and sometimes in random parts of my body. Face has been definitelythe worst (nerve misfiring sensations).Never received a diagnosis from Western to Eastern doctors for any of the issues. Scarring was not taken seriously at any dermatologist or dermapathologist; one suggested I probably have AMVC if its the only explanation I have found that matches my symptoms.
I tested for Lyme or any related virus or infection in 2015 but tests were negative. This all has been incredibly depressing and frustrating.

Yea, I also went to a few different dermatologists with little help. I looked heavily into demodex as this can cause skin damage as well as crawling sensations, I use a lot of tea tree oil as this is supposed to kill demodex, i'm leaning against demodex as a diagnosis as it seems to come and go regardless of whether i'm am treating myself with tea tree. Massively frustrating.
Hello everybody, i don't know if this belongs here really but i've had acne for 5 years now (i'm 18) and in the last 6 months i've seen scarring for the first time, however in places where i've never had pimples (cheekbones and temples) some are lines and others look like open and deep pores, i've been using Doxycycline and Adapelene for more than a year now, would also ve interested to know if something can be done.

I've definitely heard people talking about demodex mites. One guy pages back said he got a demodex mite diagnosis, but demodex mites generally cannot cause physical scarring. One of the first dermatologists I went to when I started experiencing random scarring told me the same thing. I had a skin scraping done for any type of fungus or bugs or anything and it found nothing.
I know someone who had facial rashes and acne-like bumps from demodex mites, but no pitted scars of any kind. This is my first time hearing that they can cause skin damage.

Seems like you follow a pattern noted on here of some type of antibiotics taken prior to scarring appearing out of nowhere. For many people on here, it's Accutane that they went on; for others, it's a topical vitamin A that they applied for a period of time. I took doxycycline for maybe 3 months or so and the random scarring started showing up a couple months later...I didn't do anything else though.
I mean, based on how depressing this thread is...you can't really do anything for the actual progression of scarring. It's trial and error and a lot of guessing for people on here. Some people have said to change your diet, some say to eliminate all omega 3, esp any fish or fish oil....some people have suggested taking anti-histamines....some people say to just look into microneedling or lasers. There sadly isn't a solution since the root cause of this AMVC/random scarring is unknown. There are only guesses and cosmetic fixes.
i think whats happening tothe scars is Loss of desmosomes and decrease in tonofilaments. It means the"glue" that stick our skin cells together is weaken or lost. All of our causes of the scars are different of course. But i think the result of us is the same,Loss of desmosomes and decrease in tonofilaments.
Sadly I could not find any treatment in the internet.
You can search the key words highlighted in bold and understand how it happened. Maybe some of you can find out some solution that i couldn't. Please share if you do.
I believe i haveatrophia maculosa varioliformis cutis and am going to the derm this week but I have read there isnt much treatment. So i was hoping the ones that were diagnosed with it likecan explain how long did this last? or are you still getting scars. Were any of you on accutane or recently completed accutane when you first on it. How soon after accutane did you notice this? And did you see any scarring randomly while on accutane. if you dont have the scars occuring anymore, did the scarring that you did have from this condition heal on its own?
Strangely medical journals have suggested oral isotretinoin to help this condition. But I wanted to directly ask you all. This may or may not be accutane related so anyone who actually has/hadatrophia maculosa varioliformis cutis, please let me know how you are doing now. This is an old thread so I dont know if anyone will see this??!!!
Anything you can tell me will be so helpful.
Thank you so much!
Not to simplify this, it can be very very complex and needs a certified professional for treatment. But it's always good to get another perspective. In Eastern Medicine or Homeopathic medicine they treat the cause not the symptom. The Chinese for centuries used maps like these to work on skin issues. Scarring can be caused from excessive ongoing inflammation. These charts are informational only if you believe your skin is a manifestation of health issues as a famous Dr says. But their may be variations to your condition like auto-immune conditions, bacterial infections, and genetic deformities. Something to consider...
ZONE 1
(FOREHEAD)
This region can be affected by 4 main conditions: ACNE: Small bumps or cysts caused by candida overgrowth in the gut. This will often be accompanied by acne in Zone 4. MELASMA: Large patches of brown resulting from damage to the liver. ROSACEA: Redness that remains relatively constant and worsens with triggers like certain foods or stress. PHOTODAMAGE: This zone takes on a lot of sun and often has more lines and age spots.
ZONE 2
(UPPER EYELIDS)
This region is affected by one primary condition: ECZEMA: This is caused by adrenal stress. It can occur from excess caffeine and other stimulants, anxiety or heavy stress. It results in peeling and irritation of the skin.
ZONE 3
(LOWER EYELID REGION)
This region is affected by one primary condition: KIDNEY DAMAGE: Dark circles, redness or puffinesscan occur from the use of NSAIDS like aspirin oribuprofen, etc. It can also occur from caffeine and other medications.
ZONE 4
(CHEEKS AND TEMPLES)
This region can be affected by two conditions: ACNE: Small bumps or cysts caused by candida overgrowth in the gut. ROSACEA: Redness that remains relatively constant or worsens with triggers like certain foods or stress.
ZONE 5
(LOWER-MIDDLE CHEEKBONE)
This region is affected by one condition: ROSACEA & ACNE ROSACEA: Redness and/or acne in this region is from bacterial or candida overgrowth, ulcers, digestive issues.
ZONE 6
(LATERAL TO NOSE)
This region is affected by one condition: ROSACEA: Redness next to the nose is caused by gastritis or H. Pylori overgrowth in the stomach.
ZONE 7
(NASAL FLARES)
This region is affected by one condition: ROSACEA: Redness or capillaries on the side of the nose is caused by acid reflux affecting the loweresophagus.
ZONE 8
(TIP OF NOSE)
This region is affected by one condition: ROSACEA: Redness associated with inflammation to the back of the throat often caused by hard alcohol.
ZONE 9
(LOWER CHEEKS & JAWLINE)
This region is affected by two conditions: ACNE: Bumps or cysts caused by estrogenic toxins and testosterone imbalance. Commonly affecting the make beard pattern areas, chest and back. MELASMA: Brown pigment areas found in similar regions on both sides of the face that result from liver damage often associated with medication.
ZONE 10
(PERI-ORAL REGION)
This region is affected by three conditions: ACNE: Bumps or cysts associated with estrogenic toxins and testosterone imbalance or from toxins absorbed by the caecum in constipated individuals. PERIORAL DERMATITIS: This is caused either by constipation or mouth toxicity from toxins including fluoride. MELASMA: The upper lip can develop patchy brown areas associated with liver damage.
@jellyySubcision is the act of making a pocket, ... most Dr's don't even know this, many can't even do the procedure. IF your scars are distinsible meaning you can pull the skin apart and they are gone, then just get filler .... go get a ""soft" HA" filler by any expert injector weather nurse, med spa, or Dr.
Fresh scars heal over a year, but it takes a long time.

Most of my scars are cause by exfoliating products, they are shallow and tethered even when i stretch the skin, does subcision still help?
