I cant speak for fraxel, I have never tried it, although I was offered free treatment at one point about 18 months ago...

I had C02 that BURNED my skin. I have consulted regarding lasers with many doctors over the years, all say, YOUR SKIN IS NOW DIFFERENT. YOU CAN NEVER GO WITHOUT SUNSCREEN.

I have slight pigmentation from a few hours in the sun last week (aussie summer here)

You can also get pigmentation when using harsh products, anything with S acid in it.... or from needling...anything that exposes new skin can cause pigmentation. Dermabrasion, microdermabrasion...deep exfoliation...

I use invisible zinc, google it.. and I dont break out, although it is quite oily.

Pigmentation is a nightmare to repair, best to beware and sure you dont get it in the first place.

IF I had fraxel(especially re:pair), personally id use high spf for years and years afterwards before risking a patchy face again.

Ekkk

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience with us Ernesto! For me the hope came back that my scars can be fixed despite my skins dark features. This knowledge definately made me a happier person with a more positive outlook on life.

As I'm convinced Dr. Khan will be able to help me too, I requested an online consult where he told me my scars were more or less the same as yours used to be. Given the fact that I am still a student living in Holland, it'll take me approx. a year to obtain the finances required.. But hey, after spending 10 years of my life with all that shit on my face, the day I'll wake up without is priceless!!

Well Ernesto, hope your last treatment will bring you as close to 100% as possible! Your last pictures were allready almost breathtaking so you'll probably be suited by now.

Weren't you affraid to take all these risks again or were you instantly convinced of a good result?

Best wishes in your healing process, which is probably still going on ;)

 Congratulation! I see ur amazing provment here. I envy u now!!!

I am living in China now and suffuring from Servere Acne Scars.

I have tried 5 times Pixel laser and 1 time Plasma laser.

And they just don't work for my scar.(Boxter scars)

And u know what, Pixel laser and Plasma laser are all we have here in China for acne scars.

No Subcision,No Recell!!!

I am so disappointed sometimes for myself.....And wish that I could be a Dematologist....And cure myself...SAD

QUESTION!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway,Im just wondering how much is ur surgery? I want to know because I am going to save money and go to London and get rid of my scars forever! SAVE Money and flying from Shanghai to London!! Yeah, sounds promising, huh?!!!

Dear All,

I am a bit overwhelmed by reading all the last comments on here, I had not logged on for a couple of months and It is very moving to see how documenting my journey has given hope to many of you. That really makes me really happy. Apologies for not being in touch recently, life has turned a bit hectic lately. I have lots of private messages and I will be responding to those in the coming days. If I dissapear again for a while please be patient, I will always come back.

In terms of an update, I had PRP back in November as I had previously mentioned and I had fraxel laser again over the Xmas period. The texture of my skin has improved further but I the improvement of the depth of the scar wasnt as great as before. I think the reason for these is two fold: a) I only had Fraxel this time around and didnt combine it with ReCell or Subcision; this reafirms to me that the magical thing that did it for me was the combination treatment as described at the very beginning of this thread. and b) I had Fraxel at only 40% intensity this time (half of what I had the first time). However, some people do notice improvement, I guess because I see myself in the mirror everyday and I am so perfectionist I struggle to se a dramatic improvement. Having said that, when Dr Khan took the VISIA photos again and we compared to the very first photo I was completely speechless. As I always said, this is a journey.

Dr Khan also told me that some of you have visited and has asked him to see him, I went to see him today to discuss possible future treatments (I do want to take my skin to 100% if possible) and I told him that if any that goes to see him want to meet me, I am happy to come and see you guys. He promised me to take your numbers for me and I will be in touch.

Right! now I will check some of the private messages...

Best wishes for you all

Ernesto

Thanks for this update Ernesto! You already had dramatic improvement! And everything that comes from further treatments is something right? :)

Good luck with your future treatments!

Day 15: Before and After (Take I)

Hey everybody!

Thanks agains for all the comments and I do appreciate we won't be able to see the final results until two months from now. So. I will keep posting pics in a regular basis. But I do have to say also, I am VERY pleased with the results so far!

I have taken pics today in the same condition and lighting than the before pics. Unfortunately given the changing and snowy weather lighting is not "exactly" the same, but you can have a very accurate approximation to it. I taken the same left angles in the same lighting conditions and with and with the room lights on so you can see both.

i looked through this thread and before/after pictures.

The thing that truly amazes me and BAFFLES me at the same time, is how this guy ernesto could improve his scars drastically, yet celebrities like laurence fishburne, jet li, etc etc still have similar scarring from long ago.

Do they honestly not care about their scars... or is this guy not revealing the truth?

Sorry to be pessimistic.

^ that may be because they either haven't done a lot of research, or just don't care much

these pictures look very real to me

by the way ernestoria, why did you decide to do fraxel repair at the same time as subcision?

It's no wonder that someone like you can't comprehend their attitude about their scars.

Ok can someone summerize what is going on with Re-Cell? And how does this differ from Acell?

I really think Acell is promising, check out their site.

hey guys,

this is the most recent news on stem cell, where they use the stem spay to heal scars caused by acne and burning. though this technique was previously designed to heal burn scars.

they say that it is s most effective in those patients where only the upper layers of skin are damaged.(acne scar?)

and the effects are "able to heal properly, leaving them with no traces of the previous affliction."

and"with scars "virtually" gone within a year. "

this is the source

It is not a new stem cell treatment they are discussing it is Re-Cell.

i know about re-cell.

consider this an improvement on the technique then, go to google news type "Sci-fi brought to life as spray allows scars to heal themselves"

the address of the website is here:

http://news.scotsman.com/health/Scifi-brou...e-as.6757797.jp

but for some reason it might not be showing.

the article was published on 26 apirl 2011. and its one of the 6 clinics in europe to launch this new treatment.

this procedure involves laser and has to be performed in the clinic and its not a product.

Perhaps it is finally getting used through out Europe but, that is not an improvement that is the Re-Cell procedure (nothing new). Re-Cell has always had to be performed in office and it is always used in conjunction with a laser treatment for better results. Read Ernestos experience it is the same procedure.

Perhaps you are getting it confused with ACELL the pig bladder treatment.

yup, it is the same or similar technique that is being used.

but i think what is high-lighted in this article is the extent of the healing of the scars that was never mentioned before in re-cell.:

"patients suffering from debilitating burns, horrific scarring, vitiligo, pigmentation and aged appearance are now able to heal properly, leaving them with no traces of the previous affliction."

"with scars "virtually" gone within a year. "

-quoted from the article.

and the time taken for this healing to take place is longer then previously reported:1 year.

as it is a catalyst for the natural healing process of the skin from ones own cell.

that is y i consider this an update of the technique, with detailed results that was never reported before.

re-cell is quite a general term as it was used previously mainly for healing burnt wounds and not so effective on the treatment of scars. only recently had the focus shifted to healing scars of all type and the extent of its effectiveness being revealed.
