Faizal said in another thread that they spoke recently via the phone and Erne estimated his improvement at 20%.
thats really disappointing to hear, especially since the standard results from fraxel repair are 30% (as found by dudley). i was pretty interested to see if recell really makes a difference healing wise. its supposed to. if the results are so minor though, i might not look into it at all. like here for example, it doesnt sound like it made any difference. hmm.
I agree, it is disappointing, and also baffling since I have read amazing things about the potential of stem cells, potential being the operative word it seems as I guess we are still some way away from tapping into their full power.
That said, 20% improvement to one person maybe regarded as 40% to another, it's all subjective and a matter of opinion. I have noticed that the individual with scars tends to be their own harshest critic, so until we see photo comparisons we don't know for sure, but I think we can safely say that so far stem cells haven't proven to be the miracle we had quietly hoped them to be (with Erne and Faizal both reporting less than promising results thus far). It makes one wonder about the authenticity of the original posters of these treatments who spoke of amazing improvement, without photo evidence of course.
I think Faizalj said that ernesto claims 20% improvement only from second treatment ( stem cells ). Its not bad then
so if previously Ernestoria had 50% improvement on his scars and now 20% ---> its something like 60% overall improvement
or if he meant that he noticed 20% additional improvement -> its about 70% overall now

Well, I hope that's what he meant.
Anyone know when stem cells will be coming to the US?

oh yay ! then thats good. sapphire, theres good news about this. ernie used recell, which harvests stem cells pretty easilly. theres many places throughout the world that offer it. theres only one in sydney that i know of. do a search on google e.g.type in recell texas, or america and ull find a few im sure

If so, that's great.
Note however Faizal is saying he has only got about 15% improvement thus far also. That is why I assumed Erne meant 20% overall.
I think Erne estimated 20% improvement AFTER all the swelling had subsided. I know in the beginning he was feeling optimistic at 70% improvment, but you got to wait for that microswelling to go down, unfortunately, and I did explain this previously.
As a side note, any at home treatment to induce microswelling would be the best method for masking the appearance of scars.
Hello Everybody!!!
I am BAAACCCKKK!!!
I am really sorry for not logging in recently, but I went on a long vacation (1 week skiing and 3 weeks in Venezuela.... and yes, lots of sunblock and happy to say that despite having darker skin I developed NO hyper-pigmentation!), then after I got back I've been snowed in with work and other things, so sorry for not being in touch!..I have a busy life myself plus I am socialising much more than I used to!
I spoke to Faizal the other day and he said that you all guys were asking for me, so came back to check it out and give you all an update. For some weird reason the site stopped sending me notifications when someone writes on my post so, I thought nobody has written anything. I guess one doesnt get more notifications if one doesnt log on after one notification has been sent. Anyway... apologies for the lack of updates and here we go with a bit of an update:
It's been almost 2 months since the Stem Cells treatment and as Faizal said I noticed only about 10%-20% improvement and I am not too sure this 10%-20% will continue to improve as the Dr said results will be noticeable from week 2 until week 8. Now, important to clarify as I have just read a bit of confusion about my post/results: With the Laser+ReCell treatment I got about 50% improvement (Back in Dec 2009) and 3 month later with the Stem Cells I got a FURTHER 10%-20%. So... if I compare my scars today with the scars I had before I started my journey with Dr Khan I would say we are looking about 65-70% overall. Microsweeling has definitely gone and what I see today is what it is. It is over 6 month of the Fraxel and over 3 months of the Stem Cells.
If you asked me, I am still VERY pleased. I am a different person and feel much happier than before, but I still want to continue my journey because I want to achieve 100% if possible. Unfortunately Stem Cells didnt add as much improvement as I expected but it was worth the try, and even if it was 10-20% more, that was well good!
I have decided that I will be doing Subcision + Fraxel + ReCell all over again in October/November because I am 100% confident that will take my results to 100%. That combo was definitely the trick and Dr Khan definitely got it right there!... last time I saw Dr Khan he also suggested PRP, so I need to come back to see him soon and decide what the best next step will be.
Now, in regards to Stem Cells, I have seen a lot of post of people being disappointed because they were thinking Stem Cells would be "the thing" that was going to definitely get rid of scaring. This particular treatment that Faizal and I had done might not have been delivered 80% improvement but it delivered 20%. Now, what you guys have to bear in mind is that THERE ARE 3 o 4 different Stem Cells procedures. This is just one of them. Other procedures include cultivating the cells in a lab for a period of over two months, other procedures include mixing the cells with Fat, etc etc. So... I wouldnt kill my hopes just because this one in particular didnt deliver80-100% results, because this is just one of them and this is a very new technology anyway. I am sure this will evolve and they will get it right, in the same way that Dermabrassion turned to CO2 Lasers and then that turned to Fraxel, etc.
And for those of you that have said that I dont exist and I am just a fictitious creation of Dr Khans marketing team, I dare you to send me your telephone, arrange to meet up and have a coffee and you can see my face for real and you can see the massive photo album of my life where you can see all the before photos. If you are brave enough to say I am a con/lie then be brave enough to come and meet me in person. I dare you!

No Ylem, you are wrong.
After 6 month of the Fraxel and 3 month of the Stem Cells I have 60-70% overall improvement.
Microsweling has definitely subsided.
Thanks for the update!
I'm sure you're a real person and not a concoction of some faraway doctor to get more clients
Anywayz I'm glad to hear you're living your life with more LIFE, haha. But seriously your improvements have brought upon a new hope for many of us here so thanks bro. Also is there any way you can update us with new pics soon?
Peace
Ernest congrast on the results any chance of getting some pics up?
Also to you or anyone familiar with Re-cell is is finally being offered in the U.S. ?
God I hope so the way DR.Kahn performed I belive is the best way to treat scars to date.

Can you post some good close up before and after pictures, with a digital camera, preferably, so we can see this improvement? Try to mimic the lighting conditions you used in your first pictures, which were great quality. A picture is really worth 1000 words.
the area on my neck which you can see in my pics is the place where he took the skin sample for the ReCell. The bandage didnt come off easily, in fact I was a bit worried about taking it off so I left it for days. I think it was in the 7th or 8th day when it finally came off by itself. It was very pinky and still is a bit, but that is expected as it was effectively a deeper cut, but it is healing quite quickly and no pigmentation.
After suffering from deep scarring for years and just given up all hope, I feel truly inspired by this thread.
I have (or had ) very similar scarring to yours and am the same age. If the treatment is genuine this could really sort out my life once and for all!
BTW: why did DR Khan take a sample from the side of your neck for Recell? Could he take it somewhere less obvious like your shoulders or something?
Executive Summary:
After 7 years waiting and months of research I decided to undergo treatment for my severe acne scaring with Dr. Khan in Hayley Street, London. On December 24th I will undergo Subsicion, Fraxel Re:pair and Re-Cell all in one go over a period of 4 hours. I have created this post to share my story with you all.
--------------------
Dear All,
I joined this forum a while ago when I started a long research process to find out how to get rid of my severe acne scaring. It took me a lot of reading and browsing through the message boards to understand all different types of scar treatments, their benefits, risks, etc.
The very first challenge was to understand all the different type treatments (leave the types of lasers alone!) and my own skin type and condition to finally determine what was the most advisable procedure I should go for. After a few months of research and the help of many of you fellow acne.org users I came to the conclusion that Fraxel Re:pair was probably my best option.
The second challenge was to then find out what doctors in the UK do the procedure and also find references and talk to people who had met them and had previous experiences with them. I did all that research, used all the search options of these message boards and came up with a list of 12 doctors in the UK who could do the procedure. Of those 12 I chose five and made appointments to go and have different opinions.
I visited some famous doctors in London, from Hayley Street to Knightbridge and other areas of London and I must say that I wasn't very impressed with some of them. Specially those who i had to even pay consultation for. I finally felt that Dr. Khan in Hayley Street was the most professional and experienced and I somehow felt a connection with him. He also show willingness to take me up as a case, whereas other doctors where reluctant to do even Fraxel Restore give my dark features.
Dr Khan, not only recommended me to do Fraxel Re:pair but also said that subsicion would be very good and suitable for me, specially having it done just before the Fraxel. I had come across the subsicion techniques during my research but never considered as an option. He explained well and I became more interested in the possibility of a COMBINATION PROCEDURE which could bring better results. I slept on it, consulted other dermatologist and surgeons (friends of mine abroad) and also did my own research and my finding were that the combination was supposed to create great results, so I decided to go ahead.
A few days later, the Khans also suggested to have Re-Cell during the same day (not sure if this is the right spelling!). Basically to take a sample of healthy skin from my neck, and produce a solution based on a mix of enzymes with my own collagen which the Dr then would spray onto my skin after the laser. This procedure, apparently very recent, is supposed to enhance the healing of the skin and accelerate the regeneration of collagen.
I decided to have the three procedures done on the same day. So, this Thursday 24th December I will be going to have subsicion first, then Fraxel Re:pair and Re-Cell. An estimated 4 hours procedure all together.
In order to prepare my skin Dr. Khan has injected Botox on my forehead and put me on Pigmanorm a week before the procedures.
To give you a bit more info about my case:
I had terrible acne outbreak between I was 13 and 26. Unfortunately I didn't manage to control it until I was 21 by the time I had already lot of damaged skin and scaring. I am from South America (Latin Skin), Skin Type IV with -apparently- dark features, brown eyes, black hair. I have taken photos for you to see.
My risk include: bronzing, hyper-pigmentation and the typical possibility of another acne outbreak. I have requested Dr. Khan to put me on antibiotics just in case.
My story begins this Thursday 24th December 2009.
This is probably the best Xmas Present I have ever give to myself.
