First Dr Khan removed the fat tissue from the upper sides of my hips (love handles area) and not really my tummy as he said I had very little there. He applied local anaesthetic first and then another round of deeper anaesthetic and then when in with the canula to extract all the fat graft. He took about 400-500 ml from both sides.
....
After all that Dr Khan did a bit of Derma Rolling and then I was all done and ready to go.
I hope you are healing quickly!
Did Dr Khan dermarolling on the same scars he did subcision on or did he roll different scars?
What is the main difference between doing a fat graft and stem cells? The procedure seems to be pretty comparable in my view.
To be honest I am not too sure. I know he did subcision again in some scars only. and dermarolling in other areas.
In regards to the difference between the fat graft and the stem cells what I understood is that he takes fat grafts from my tummy to then extract stem cells from it and mix it with other type of enzymes before injecting them back into my face scars.
This all happened quite quickly and it all sound quite complex medically speaking. I trust him and let him do what he said would be best. Results should be evident in 2 weeks and then will improve further.

A quick update:
It has been now 24 hrs since the surgery. I am in deep pain on the right side of my tummy, just above the hips where one of the fat tissue grafts were extracted. It is very very swollen and bruised. I can hardly move!!! I mean, basically I had a lipo suction, and it does hurt. I guess this will go away soon.. taking painkillers. The face although is swollen, but I feel no pain or anything. All good.
Ernesto - Im scared about the fat removal. I am having around 200 ml of fat removed from my body for the stem cell treatment!
How long did it take to remove the fat from your body, and can you talk me through the exact procedure - the more detail the better for me. Any advice you can give would be welcomed.
You should be taking co-codamol for the pain - do not take anything else. This is the best thing to take. The pain should go away in around 2 weeks, and slowly just goes away.

Hi everybody.... another quick update.
Pain around the waist from where the fat was taking is starting to go away slowly.
I still have a swollen face as expected and although is swollen it looks VERY VERY smooth. This is promising. Dr said we will start seeing the real results in 2 weeks anyway, so... I will post some pics then.
Thanks to all who have left nice positive comment and send me good wishes! Very kind!
Wow sounds promising ernestoria. There is another user here who said he had 100% improvement (completely removed all his scarring) by using Dr. Khan's stem cell treatment.
Can anyone explain how it works? Does the skin need to be damaged (laser, subcision?) before stem cells are applied?
Hi Ziko,
Back in December I had Subcision + Fraxel Repair [at 70% 8 passes] and ReCell. Dr. Khan recommended to have all these done in one go. I got about 55% improvement. You can see the before and after photos if you read through the whole thread (before pics on first page)
After my review session with Dr Khan, two months later, he recommended having Stem Cells. He believes that will take the improvements further to a very high standard. So, I agreed and I had this done a couple of days.
For Stem Cells alone, the skin does not have to be damaged. He just extracts some fat from your tummy/waist and cultivate/mix the cells with some enzymes and other things and then inject those back into your face skin. "Deep into the dermis" to replace the fat loss caused by both the scars and the laser and other ablative procedures. But this is done with only 3 small incisions on each side of the face, nothing really noticeable.
So far very promising. Results will be seen immediately in 2 weeks and apparently they will improve significantly further over the next 4 months. I am really really excited. Cant wait!

Ernestoria, please could u tell me how much this procedure as cost u?...Ive asked un this question before without any reply.
Sam, I dont like disclosing how much I paid because I am not sue if you would get charged the same and I wouldnt like to compromise me or Dr Khan. A lot of these types of procedures depend on the type of scars, type of skin and the area that needs to be covered (ie Subcision, Fraxel and even Stem Cells!)... also remember that not all procedures are suitable for all patients, so... unless I see your photos I couldnt tell you and even so, bear in mind I am not a doctor myself! . Best thing is for you to get a free appointment with Dr Khan and find out for yourself based in your own circumstances.
The only thin I can tell you is that Dr Khan charges fair prices. I went to see 6 doctors in London before seeing Dr Khan and 3 of them where charging ridiculous money and astronomical figures which made no sense. Dr Khan wasnt the cheapest but he was far from being the most expensive. Just average fair prices and great value for money.
The Stem Cells treatment is naturally the most expensive as Dr Khan is the only Dr in the UK who is offering this brand new treatment and there is no much technology available. All new procedures and technology tend to be more expensive as soon as they come out. But I would say that in average you need to allow for £4,500 - £6,500 depending on your case and the type of treatment you are going to go for, specially if you want to combine procedures as I did.
Hope this helps.
I am amazed at how fast your skin pigment has returned to normal Ernest.
The thing is Fraxel seems to cause redness for a while in people. You said you had restore on 70% and I don't really know about the percentages, etc. but that seems to be a high setting...and I wonder if ReCell was pivotal in healing and lesser redness that doesn't last nearly as long.
Good luck with this next round of treatment. I hope you get to the point where you are happy.
One day you will have to just be happy with the way you are and I hope sincerely that this next treatment gets you there. Thanks for posting pics and being helpful to people.
Best wishes.
Skin is looking great, exactly two weeks tomorrow since I had Stem Cells, I dont feel anything tight any longer in my skin. At first I dint notice a big change. Now it is starting to be a bit more noticeable. Dr Khan said results will appear between week 2 and 8 after the procedure. So... really looking forward to see how much the skin improve over the coming weeks.
Ernest, how is your skin looking?
ernestoria, your results so far are just spectacular. it's nothing short of amazing considering the state of your skin when you started. just incredible. and to think you are only 3 months in... wow wow wowww!
i just read through this entire thread and now feel somewhat more hopeful about resolving my own scarring. i really hope some doctors in the US hop on board this recell/stem cell train because otherwise i will be hoping on plane to see dr khan and get exactly whatever he did to you!
Dr. Jeffrey Caruther is using the stem cells with fat grafting in Dallas as well as the dr. in beverly hills. However, I guess it is not FDA approved, yet they are still doing it. It is around $8,000 in Dallas. Re-cell is not in US yet. I have read that the stem cell with fat injection has not shown to be permanent but doctors are hoping it would last 5-10 years. I guess no one knows since it is so new.
Hi everybody!
I am writing from sunny Margairta Island in Venezuela, I am taking my vacation... it has been exactly a month now and the effects are starting to show... sometimes I struggle to see them but people around me have definitely seen the difference. My face is a bit puffier (if one can use that word!) and the front definitely shows significant improvement.
I will take photos when I get home in two weeks time and post a proper update.
Very happy so far!
Hi Tricia,
I live in the United States. Thank you for your post regarding stem cell Doctors in the United States. I have been emailing Dr. Kahns office in the UK, but would like to find a doctor closer to home. I am trying to find the Doctor in Dallas and have been unsucessful. Is the spelling you have posted correct?
Thanks so much!
Hi Ernestoria,
I have been following your posts. Thank you for all of your information and sharing your story. I have contacted Dr. Kahns office in the UK and have been asking questions via email. I live in the United States and would like to find someone closer to home, but would consider going to Dr. Kahn if I'm not able to find what I'm looking for here.
Good luck, you look amazing. Enjoy your vacation!!
