Has anyone had subcision done in Houston Texas? Where did you have it done, by whom, and how much did it cost? Did you get good results? Thanks for your replies:-)

I think a few members have gotten treatment from dallas texas. some guy named Dr. Lam..

I could be wrong though, but people were getting subcision + fillers and liked their results.

I just got a quote for $850 from Laser and Cosmetic Surgery Center of Houston. Sounds expensive to me. Anyone else?

I would avoid any surgery center places, make sure you have an actualy doctor performing the procedure preferably a derm or plastic surgeon. Any ole doctor can buy a machine and take one class on how to use the machine but it doesn't mean he's qualified. I would want someone who knows and specializes in derm or Plastics. Also at a lot of those surgery centers they have some tech doing the procedures which is scary!

You might try Doc Susanne Bruce, i've heard she's good but haven't had any procedures with her. I did have a consult for fillers but she wasn't very positive so I decided against it right now.

Also you could call Dr Paul Friedman's office, he's my laser surgeon. He might be able to give you a recommendation on someone who does subcision.

hey houtexjoe, did you end up finding someone who does subcision in Houston? And did Bogle really offer you 850 for subcision? I saw her, and she only gave me quotes for Fraxel treatments.

I also saw Dr. Ramsey Markus at Baylor College of Medicine. He apparently does subcision, but he didn't offer it to me...but he pushed the Fraxel pretty hard. If you haven't tried him, you may want to give him a shot...

If you end up finding someone in the area, please post ;)

For Re:Store, Dr. Bogle quoted me either $400 per treatment or $1500 for a package of 5 treatments, my choice. For Re:Pair, it was $800 for one treatment. The treatment area would only consist of one side of my chin.

Just to be fair, I thought Dr. Bogle was actually quite nice and spent quite a bit of time looking and touching at my scars...really good bedside manner. My problem was that I walked into her clinic without doing much research on my options, like subcision, fillers, etc. She was recommended to me by another dermatologist, so I figured I could just trust her opinion. If I had went in there with a bit more knowledge, then maybe I could received quotes on some procedures other than Fraxel.

I'm planning on setting up a consultation to see Ramsey. Hopefully his prices will be a little lower. I'm determined to get subcision before I do anything else like lasers etc.

jack3100 - that price is NOT for the full face. that price is for treatment of only a part of my chin/jaw that covers about 5-6 inches of area.

houtexjoe - was Dr. Bogle's price of 850 for subcision so high because it's for a large treatment area?

The receptionist at Laser and Cosmetic Surgery Center of Houston told me that prices for subcision "start" at $850 and the consultation is $150. She also said the consultation fee would be waved if the procedure was performed the same day as the consultation.

I was told that a consultation with Ramsey is $75.

I also heard great things about Dr. Suzanne Bruce. Here is her website.

I think her restore was a grand a piece, don't remember how much more it is for the IPL but it was a lot. Cant remember what the consult either. 60 to 100. Her phone number is 713-796-9199

Only thing I can remember about talking to her was she never really looked me in the eyes and wasn't all that positive that any fillers would help me that much, and she was really pushing the Fraxel restore when I had told her I had already done it. Even though he office is literally up the street from me, I will continue to let Dr Friedman do my laser treatments and drive to the Medical Center for them.

Dr Friedman is 713-791-9966

Who do you guys think I should go to? Ramsey Markus or Melissa Bogle? Any advice would be great. How much is the consultation fee for both of them? Do you need medical insurance? Thanks.

Insurance wont cover anything as far as acne scarring goes, and as far as pricing goes call up and ask some doctors dont charge for consultation and some have a fee.

I think it's tough to say. I've had consultations with both, but no procedures done. Bogle's consultation fee is $150, while Ramsey's is $75 (I believe). I don't know much about Ramsey's reputation, but Dr. Bogle was recommended to me by another dermatologist. In fact, that dermatologist gets her laser work done by Dr. Bogle, so that probably says something about Dr. Bogle's competency.

BTW, that price of $850 for subcision is astounding. That's more than what she quoted me for Fraxel treatments. I'm hoping the receptionist got her numbers mixed up.

Ramsey is the only one who has subcision listed on their webpage...I'm probably going to check him out too, unless Boggle drops her prices:-)

Finally, after all these years of lurking on these boards, I meet somebody from Houston!!!

So I went to se Dr. Markus last March (2008). His consultation was $50 then. I walked into his office knowing that I want to get subcision done. That was the only treatment that made sense to me. I am an Asian and do not want to risk Fraxel. Despite my hesitance, he pushed Fraxel very hard and said subcision will not hel me at all. Needless to say, I did not get the fraxel done and till this day am looking for somebody who does subcision in Houston.

Hope that helps
