Hiya everyone, thanks for the comments smile.gif.. I AM really excited!! Tee~hee

Smilingeyes.. yes, I had bad scarring on my nose--lots of bumps.. Since the dermabrasion, it had improved A LOT.. they are still there but they are not as noticable as before...

Sorry about the after pictures being a different color than the befores.. but let me tell you how my skin looks when I examine it close up in the mirror... all my little tiny shallow scars that you see in the before have gone.. only VERY little scarring left-and those were my BIG scars... the only problem is the discoloration still, which I think makes it looks a lot worse than it is right now... I looked at my skin from different angles and I see no depression and scars, it's sooo much smoother right now.. I feel like if I wear makeup to make it all even-colored, it would look really good.. I do think that the discoloration will fade in a couple of months.. I'm okay with it because I can hide it now when before, I couldn't hide all the depressions with makeup-it just made it look more disgusting!.. In my gallery, you always see me with my hair down because I always use it to hide my cheek scars.. now I'm confident enough to tie my hair up and go out.. WEE!! I'm so excited... ehehhe.. I will be posting more progress pics for you all to see and I'll try to get the lighting better.. Going to try make-up on next week(2 weeks post op).. I think I'm going to be very happy biggrin.gif

I think that one more dermabrasion would make me EXTREMELY happy and I'd be done with my quest for nice, clear skin smile.gif.. so, I'm saving up for next year.. hehe.. Take care all..

So, Poe, is that pic of you in the 'People of...' thread pre-dermabrasion? I can't find the pics of you on this thread (I have skated over it as I don't have much time before I have to log off) - what page are they on?

Kiki - amazing improvements! I wish we had someone that did dermabrasion over here in the UK. sad.gif

POE:::::

Can you describe your pain experience? I'm a big scared baby, and with months away before my dermabrasion, I don't want to be thinking about the pain factor the whole time. If it's gonna hurt like hell I just want to know that now I think so I can mentally prepare for it and I'll be fine. Can you touch your face on the third day?

What day did the new skin appear?

Did it feel like your face was on fire for hours? days?

How much blood did you see???? (sorry) I can't even give a vile of blood without passing out so I'm fearing the blood factor.

Did punch floats hurt?

PAIN PAIN PAIN ... LETS TALK ABOUT PAIN!

I also had a full face dermabrasion by Dr Y

I dont think you should worry about pain. I feel no pain from the dermabrasion. After the 2 dermaroll shot and valium under your tongue I only felt the pressure of the wheel on my face. I experience no pain at all. Even after, I didnt experience any discomfort due to pain but rather due to oozing. I saw myself 2-3 days after the procedure and you can see raw skin. I was pretty shock that my face look so swell and red. If you not comfortable, you can always not see it.

Portlandboy23,

Here's a list of the pain I felt so you can have an idea.. two shots on upper buttocks(just slight split second pain.. Pain Level= 1 based on a scale from 0-10)

When Dr. Y used a q-tip and rubbed the acid under your eyes so it would blend more with the dermabraded areas(Pain Level= 3.. it numbed after a bit)

When Dr. Y actually dermabraded the skin, he freezes each section first.. the dermabrasion didn't hurt ONE BIT but the freezing of the skin just a TINGE of pain(Pain Level= 0.5)

When the nurse clean off your face with shaving cream and gently rubs the vigilon and dead skin away(Pain Level= 1)

After she cleans it off and you had the mask on for 72 hours, you are on your own.. You use vaseline and then clean it off with shaving cream and you can just be REALLY gentle with it.. the only pain I felt was from using the gauze to gently rub the dead skin away.. Make SURE they are READY to be rubbed off because you can make it bleed easily if you put too much pressure..

I saw like about 90 % of new BRIGHT pink skin the day she took it off completely.. the other 10 % were still red and raw but they fell off and new skin appeared less than 2 days later... I saw no blood.

You might feel some itchiness but what I do for it is when I wash my face, I use EXTREMELY cold water and it makes it feel SOOO soothing.. it also take some of the redness away...

Hope this helps.. Just don't worry Portlandboy, it'll be okay.. The MOST pain I felt was from the acid under my eyes and THAT wasn't too bad at all.. biggrin.gif

Okay guys, since the 8 day post op pics were in poor lighting.. I took my nine days post op pics in natural light, right in front of my sliding glass door..

I think you can compare the 9 days with the predermabrasion better than with the reddish 8 days pics.. Tell me what you guys think, okay? I was thinking 50 % improvement, now I'm feeling that it is more like 70 %... smile.gif I'm just so very happy that I did this.. This is only 9 days POST-OP, so for the people who are worried about how you will look like.. this will give you guys an idea.. I look almost normal, I think I can cover it up with makeup now and go out if I want to(but since I don't HAVE to go out, I'm opting to stay in and wait for the dryness to subside a little smile.gif )

In response to Love/Kiki's pics...OH MY GOSH! Your skin looks absolutely PERFECT! PHENOMENAL! Poe...your skin is looking beautiful as well! smile.gif

It seems from reading this thread that one is able to schedule a consultation appointment with Dr. Y rather quickly. Has this been everyone's experience? Since I'm from NOLA, do you think I should still write Dr. Y a letter? ‚Å“ I guess to save time during the consultation process. Can it be performed even if one still has breakouts? Has anyone been REJECTED for this procedure? Please forgive me if this has already been addressed (I did read over the thread but my mind is like a sieve smile.gif), but was preliminary blood work required? I am a little concerned about this, because I usually fail the bleeding time tests (I may be missing a platelet factor). I've had multiple operations before (non-skin related), however, and with absolutely NO problems. If I didn't live with other people (i.e. my folks...haha...hey, I'm in grad school, money's tight wink.gif), I'd invite all of ya to crash at my house! tongue.gif

Poe, Honestly speaking, and I'm an extremely harsh critic, your improvement is closer to 100% from what I can see in your after pics. Hey, did you have any scars on your temples or forehead? If so, how deep were they? Are they completely gone now? Sure looks like it. BTW, did you have any pores, on nose or elsewhere? Are they gone?

Hiya Nic.. Wow, that made my day! Thanks for that comment biggrin.gif ... Yep, I had bad temple scarring(look at the before pic-left side) I even had one greenish colored one on my left side... My forehead scarring wasn't so bad.. I had one bigger indent but it was the only "normal" looking part of my face.. Now, that one dent is gone and my forehead is really smooth now... as for my temples, they are all smooth too.. cept for that greenish scar turned red now... so that's the only thing on my temples right now, just that lil red mark on my left temple.. my right temple looks in great condition.. Yes, I had big pores and bumps on my nose! Now, there are less pores and the bumps are smaller as well.. it's not perfect but I'm definitely happy with the improvement.. Everyone who have seen me in person have said that my skin has improved tremendously(THEY say about 85%-90%).. I know in the coming weeks, the scars can start to show a lil(due to ALL the swelling being gone) but I know that the 2nd part to this procedure will kick in.. the collogen building part.. So I'm pretty sure that my skin won't look much worse in the next couple of months.. biggrin.gif Like I said before, overall, I'm extremely happy that I did this.. smile.gif Dr. Y really is a genius..

where are the pics??? sad.gif

i can't find them

Also do you guys think if your scars are on your cheeks you need to do a full face dermabrasion? or can you do your cheeks only?

$4,500 is a lot for me right now

I am sending my letter, i'll try and get some pics in there too but still one needs to go for a consultation first right?

Does Dr. Y offer a payment plan???

^Nope. A $2000.00 deposit is required to hold your dermabrasion date, with payment in full due the day of the surgery.

amnesiac: Dr. Y. will do the consult and the procedure on the same day. If you have any pitted scars you might want to think about going in for punch floats prior to the dermabrasion.

let me see how i can arrange it then, only family i have is in orlando florida, i'll send in the letter with the pics and let him call me to see what i should do, then i'll do the plan smile.gif

Do you guys think a full face is needed for overall skin tone or is this blown out of proportion?

Thanks Poe for answering my question. Since my skin tone is very similar to yours, I'd like to follow your progress and see how your pigmentation comes back.

Home equity line of credit here I come!!!!!!!! (For some reason my hubby thinks we are getting this in case he wants to make another music video...wonder how he got that idea?? bb_icon_rolleyes.giflaugh.gif )

Hi. Sorry if I missed this someplace along the way. There's just so much good information on this threads, it's hard to take it all in with limited time. I was wondering, though, exactly how long it would take to have the procedure and get back to work. I just started a new job a couple of months ago, and I will have about a week of vacation time this winter, so including the weekends that would be about 9 days to heal. For you who have experience with the procedure, will this be enough time? I'm not overly concerned about having a little swelling and pinkness, but I don't want to have scabs and bleeding and whatnot if possible.

Thanks,

John

John,

From what everyone says, nine days has been enough for them. They say they just look sunburned at that point.

Good Luck!

can anyone link me to poe's pictures??

One question, in the end he decides what is best for the patient right?

I mean can he turn one down for dermabration?

Did he tell you about what treatment to do in regards to your pictures sent in or when you actually when in for a consult?

Wow, Love and Poe, your results look darn good from what I can see just in the pics. I am leaning towards getting this done and plan to go to New Orleans in either Nov. or Dec. If I do it in Nov. I would benefit with more days off bc everyone will be wanting Christmas break. ---

Poe,

I think I am type III or IV too. I can't wait to see your pics in the future. I am not good with pain either... I cried when I had smoothbeam done! But from what you described it doesn't seem too bad... expecailly now that I know what to expect. I have decided to do the dermabrasion over 5 more smoothbeam sessions. Ques.: Poe, have you tried any other scar revision before your derm? When you say clean with shaving cream, is it just any kind of shaving cream you buy at the store? I hope you guys all heal nicely. Take care and thanx for the info!
