John, Hey mate.. How's the weather in Syndey? Hear there are quite some beautiful women out there. Anyway, when do you plan on having your next dermabrasion? You mentioned you had boxcar and icepick scars- did you have any of them punch elevated or excised prior to your dermabrasion? I'm set to have dermabrasion by Dr. Y in Jan. (already met him 3 weeks ago) and wondering if I should have some of the deeper scars punch elevated (punch float?) first. I'm also having the Isolagen injections in December, which I think may be further benefited by the injury brought forth by dermabrasion (more cells to heal?) Then again, I plan to have another dermabrasion in June. Do you think I should have the deeper scars (mainly deep, soft scars on cheek sides) punch elevated before the first dermabrasion, or after, given that they don't elevate completely? Also, when does your skin completely heal following dermabrasion? Shouldn't you be able to have your next one immediately thereafter, ie. 4 months? Finally, do you think Dr. Y. will be around in 2 or 3 more years? I'm hoping to have my skin restored only by him, with the exception of Isolagen. Thanks, and congratulations to you and others on your results.

I was fortunate to see both John AND Kiki and they both looked terrific after just over a week when I saw them! I TOO can also confirm that Kiki's pictures are un-touched.. her skin looked like that when I saw her, only it was pinker..
John, you are so right about saving up to get it done by Dr. Y again.. Before I read your post, I was thinking that I might be okay with my skin now and not do it again... but, considering the fact that there are no OTHER doctors that are as skilled as he is in dermabrasion, I'm going to go ahead and save up as well to get my skin retouched... I want it retouched ONLY by his hands...
PS for the guys I used Dermablend Make Up today after two weeks and honestly it covers the redness perfectly (PS I want to state I do not take pleasure in wearing make up!)
After looking at Kiki's pics I am so impressed! Thank you so much Kiki for sharing them with all of us...means alot to me.
Ok... I'm going to do it!!! I'm going to go to Dr. Y.... I am now totally convinced that he will HELP my scars (notice I don't expect miracles)...
Could I possibly get his phone number?
Thank You!!!!
Wow...KiKi your skin look great!!! Thanks for sharing. Being an Asian male over 30 I feel so vain for wanting this. I drafted a letter to send to Dr. Yarborough requesting a contact and a consultation session. Now only if I have the courage to drop it off at the post office.
Did all of you contact him trough a letter first?
Do you have to send pictures with your letter??
Did you guys all do a full face?
Does he only do full face?
What are your skin types?
Do you decide when to go or does he give you the date?
Love- you did the punch grafting with him, how many days before where you there? i will need some punch grafting too.
Portlandboy, What type of scars do you have? How do you know whether or not you need punch elevation? I have some deeper scars and am wondering whether I should do the punch elevation first, or whether I can do with the filler following dermabrasion.. Do you have soft deep scars, ice-pick, or boxcars?
Portlandboy23... Good Luck!! Although you really don't need it.. You're in GREAT hands with Dr. Y.. I'm so excited for you!!.. I'm excited for ANYONE who's going to be having dermabrasion with Dr. Y because I KNOW they will be so happy that they did it... I'm extremely happy.. it's day 8 for me and my skin is leveled now cept' for like three very shallow scars.. and I still have some discoloration, which will fade in time and I believe I can hide very well with makeup now... I promise I will be posting pics soon too..
Take care everyone. Ta~ta

I read through this thread and several other related threads so I am not too nervous about the dermabrasion procedure. Nothing I can do to my face can make it any worst. The fear is walking into a room full of women waiting for cosmetic surgery. That will give me the jeepers. I get embarrass at the moisturizer section of the pharmacy. There would be endless poking at the boxing gym as well.
My job gives me plenty of vacation days and sick days: 4 weeks vacation and 8 sick days. I can carry 5 vacation days to next year. My boss will let me take a month off if I gave advance notice. This weekend I am going to give it a lot of thought.
Poe: How do you determine your Asian skin type? I am Chinese by the way.
Hi Steven
You sound good to go then.. a month is MORE than enough... I'm at day 8 and I look like I have a medium sunburn but I believe I will be able to go out by beginning of next week(with make-up on) and look totally normal..
I have a regular derm here in Indianapolis and he classified me as a III-IV and then I went to two other derms looking to get laser done and they said I was a III-IV as well.. They would'nt do it on me though because they said I was "too dark".. I remember driving home from an appointment in tears after the doctor said he wouldn't do it and then tried to sell me on microdermabrasions and such.. And then I saw this thread and the rest is history ... Are you lighter skinned Chinese? If so, you might be a Fitzpatrick III... It's classified from a I to a VI.. VI being the very darkest... Hopefully, that helped...? Keep us updated on when you're going to do it, okay?

Well guys I am going to Dr. Y either the end of August or the start of September for punch floats. After that...at the 4 week point I will go in for dermabrasion...either spot or full face. I may go ahead w/ the full face for old times....LOL.
This will be the final scar revision procedure for me, as I am pretty happy now, just a few flaws that need to go. I will document the entire process for all to share...wish me luck!
LoL Misty.. I think your skin looks PERFECT already though but yeah, it IS Dr. Y and who can pass up Dr. Y eh? I know I'm planning on getting either another full-face or just a touch-up next year by him..
Okay guys.. I wasn't going to post it up yet but I'm just curious as to what you guys think about it now? Sometimes I'm SOOO excited and sometimes I'll be like I want another dermabrasion NOW.. lol... I know it's not NEARLY as amazing as Kiki's but there ARE some results.. Also, I had worse off skin to begin with.. The before pics are just one day before the dermabrasion and the after pictures are 8 days post-op.. Keep in mind that my face still looks like it has a bad sunburn and also the lighting is different too..
P.S. Please don't laugh

I think I have a combo of both. I have some sunken in areas which I don't even know what to call them. THey are not horrible but they are there. When I stand under a bright light I can count about 5-7 sunken in spots on both sides of my face. My forehead has a few smaller scars and I have one hell of a big chicken pox scar which I will be so glad to say goodbye to.
For all of you asking about how Dr. Y has assessed my situation, I actually saw him 5 years ago for Microdermabrasion when it fist hit the states. He was one of the first Dr.'s with it. He took pics of me and used them in his seminars. I was a good responder to Micro but the results were less than satisfactory for me, I just simply wanted/expected more but couldn't afford it at age 19. So he actually still has my original pics from 5 years ago. And as you all know, scars don't go away or change really. He and Cassandra actually remembered me after all this time. They recalled my hometown in Louisiana and I haven't lived there for nearly 4 years. I think that this just goes to show that these people really do care about their patients!

You look fantastic! Congrats.... THanks for the pics. I plan to post all my pics as well..... before and afters.
This is what I have learned for whomever it might help:
Punch floats are $60 each and require at least 4 weeks before dermabrasion can be done. When you go to have punch floats you can elect to have your dermabrasion consultation then $125.
Dermabrasion is $4500 for full face and will require at least 1 dressing by them but most everyone does 3 days of dressings with them. I was told I needed to stay a min. of 2 days but it would be in my absolute best interest to stay for 3. And I'm going to listen! (even though I have my whole family about 30 miles away)
I think we should scrap Bush, scrap Kerry and elect John Marion Yarborough, MD as our next president.
Thanks again Kiki, Poe, and Leopolda! You are all making this seem as simple as going through the drive-thru at McDonald's.
Poe: It is definitely a big improvement. Thanks for posting the pictures. It is very encouraging.
I am seriously considering about doing this around March so I can hide my face behind a hood and a scarf. Prior I would fly to New Orleans in early December for a consultation.
Ok, I just revisited this thread after not coming since the beginning of July and I just have to say I am completely blown away! Kiki and Poe's pics are just incredible.......I didn't even know scar revision could actually give such good results.
Poe, just one question....you have a little bit of scarring on your nose in one of your before pics. I have similar scarring on my nose and am wondering if the dermabrasion helped get rid of that completely or if it is still visible? I can't really tell in the after pics (as great as they are) because of the different lighting.
I want to do this so badly now!!!!!!!!
Thanks everyone for sharing their experiences and pics on this procedure.
