I knew this years ago from my own experience. You know what though, try nonfat milk and you'll be ok. Stay away from whole milk. 2% and 1% still can cause mild acne, but nonfat is the way to go.

i just found a link that talks about milk causing acne....something i had to cut back from when i found out on my own that this is what created acne for me. sad.gif

WAW! its interesting you should say that about milk causing acne, because 2 weeks ago i started eating cereal for breakfast instead of my usaul which is a cup of tea and toast, and funnily enough this is when the breakouts started, just 2 weeks ago! so i had a funny feeling it must have been either the cereal itself, or the milk, therefore i stopped and just went back to my usual toast for breakfast, but i told my mum i thought it was the cereal or the milk that was breaking me out,but she just thought i was being stupid......but now i know............it was that god damn milk!!!!! Oh well at least now i know!

I've also just ordered some of that benzoyl peroxide gel stuff from dan, so i'll give that a try aswell, and see how i get on. its only really my chin that has broke out, so if the worst comes to the worst and i still have mild acne on my chin on the day of my dermabrasion, i'll just have to tell him to miss my chin and just do the res of the face, my chin has no scars what so ever anyway, but i just wanted him to do all of my face for the fear of my chin ending up a different colour from the rest of my face.

Hello.

I suppose I'm a "Dermabrasioner."  biggrin.gif

I had my derm in late July o4' so I'm nearly 7 months post-procedure. I am now dealing with the new scars manifest by the dermabrasion and have been in damage control mode since early January. I spoke with Dr. Yarborough and there is a possibility I will consult with him again soon.

I am very pleased that others have had promising results. I suppose the outcomes are highly individualized.

Hi Kiki,

I too have a new scar that wasn't there before on my face. Another poster has mentioned the same to me via PM. I do hope that people realize, that although unlikely, there is always a risk with an invasive procedure like dermabrasion to cause further scarring, even in the highly skilled hands of Dr. Y. Even though I did get a new scar from the procedure, I am not too bothered because I've had many, many other existing scars that have improved from it.

Good luck to you on your journey. And thanks again for all the advice you have given me.

D

OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I cant believe you ended up with a considerably large linear scar, and 8 ice pick scars, as a result of the dermabrasion!!! If i ended up with this, i would seriously demand all my money back, or take the man to court!! and this is from the man dubbed a "legend" DAMN!!!! what am i getting myself into!!!

I'm starting to have all these doubts now, and my procedure is in 4 weeks!!!

HELP!!!!!! eusa_wall.gifeusa_wall.gif

I am just curious to know if the scars were possibly there prior to dermabrasion and that the dermabrasion just exposed them because the top layer or layers of skin were dermabraded. I am just wondering if this is the case.

I just don't see how dermabrasion can cause ice pick type scarring. Can anyone please explain this to me?

Hi MissShady,

At day 19, I have not noticed any new scars, and nothing has been messed up. For such an invasive surgery, this is a very remarkable achievement. Although I don't want to assess improvement yet at this point, it is hard to visualize my scars and overall skin getting worse than pre-dermabrasion.

Everyone's expectation is different. My definition of 10% improvement could be your 5% (or vice versa). My face was pretty messed up pre-derma, if I have to trade a few new scars for 500 improved ones, that would be a gain (but again I don't see any new scars). It was a risk I was willing to take, but it may not be acceptable to you.

I am sure if you tell Dr. Y your concerns about new icepicks / linear scars (as early as possible!!!), he will give you an honest answer. I hope you will be happy whether you decide to go with it or not. Good luck.

Regards,

Sword

Thanks sword, i will be giving Dr Y a call at his office on Monday morning, and i will ask him what he makes of it all. I think so far out of everyone who has had this procedure done by him on this board, kiki has been the only one to come out of it worse off, so i will no doubt go ahead and have the procedure done, as everyone else who seems to have had it done have been very pleased with the outcome, so i shouldn't really let this put me off.

No. These are very large icepicks. These are even larger than the ones Dr.Y had treated before the derm.

LOVE,

I want to thank you (and Leo and Poe) for giving me inspirations to make such a bold move. I'm sorry to hear about the new scars. Hope everything will work out for you.

Regards,

Sword

If I had to do it all over again, I would not.

kiki, i wont mention any names, although i will be saying that someone he performed dermabrasion on from this board ended up with more scarring and that they are unhappy, and i'll see what he says.

kiki will you be having him work on your scarring again in the future? do you intend on taking him to court? or settling this out of court, as most americans do?

I think the Doctor would make u sign a RELEASE form to protect himself.....at least this is what one surgeon said during my consultation... i asked what the risk was when getting a dermabrasion, and he said i could end up with additional scarring...so everyone's results may differ from each other depending on many factors if u think about it....u may be in the hands of a very professional doctor, but he is human and will make accidental mistakes from time to time........pray, pray, pray....that he gets a restful sleep the night before and comes into work with steady hands.

Who else has had post derm. complications with Dr. Y.? I have only heard of improvement (even though it was minor) from people who have had it. I am only talking about those who went to Dr. Y.

Are the risks of complications less if he does not go that deep? My scarring is considered mild.

Kiki,

What were/are your scars classified as? Mild, Moderate, Severe?

Hey hey hey. This is my 1st post on this wonderful board. I have acne scars on both my cheeks. Kinda like what leafsfan had but a bit redder.(not that red) I'd also like to thank everyone for posting their pictures.

I have read throughout this whole thread(a whole 2 hours) so i know what questions have and haven't been asked, but i have one question i'd like to ask smile.gif

Since the scars are only on both cheeks, do i still have to get a full face done??? My forehead, nose, and chin are clear.

What suck's is i have to wait about another half a year before i get this done, because i don't have the money right now. It really is killing me.It hurts not to be able to do things you want, and hiding from society because you are not satisfied with your appearance.

Im nevous about the whole dermabrasion, plus being pink afterwards.

Kiki,

You must be very discouraged at this point. I'm so sorry things didn't turn out better. You and John Sydney were instrumental in getting me to go ahead and get dermabrasion with Dr. Y. ...I'm so glad I did it. I also had mild rolling scars and dermabrasion helped me significantly. I'm 9 weeks post derm...still mildly pink in places...some more than others, but no new scars. I am so pleased with my results that I seldom visit the board anymore.

Do you think using Tri-Luma cream or any other topicals could have created the problem? I really hope your situation will be resolved...we're all rooting for you.

Wildcard... the Tri-Luma you brought up is a great point... It does contain a cortisone, which is known to fragile the skin, specifically by thinning it.

Absolutely not. I only used the Tri-luma near my nose on a very very very tiny area, nowhere near the new scars.

Kiki

I remember you. I was the person who had spot derm on my forehead performed by dr y. I am truly saddened to learn of your misfortune and wish you only the best. Please pm me if you want to talk more. I was wondering how you've been for a very long time.
