Welcome back Misty--I can't wait to hear about your trip and how things went. I just wanted to post very quickly to note that over the past few weeks, my skin has dramatically improved--much smoother than it was even a month ago. I definitely got a big initial improvement from the derm--a combination of immediate surface smoothing and swelling from underneath to fill in any of the volume loss, and then after about 2 weeks, the scars with volume loss re-appeared (still very much improved however--but visible). From that point on, things did get a little better each day and then seemed to plateau around month 2 (simply the fading redness makes improvement more striking). Then, a few weeks ago, I notice that the remaining area of volume loss really bagan to look noticeably more shallow--very noticeable. I have been using copper peptides and puredeming on alternate nights. I have a very low percentage of retin a, but am hesitant to use it. In any case, I just wanted to share this news and to remind those of you who have recently had dermabrasion with Dr Y to watch out around the 3 month mark for this "boost" as well.

Thanks for the update leo! It's very encouraging to hear about your improvement. Sorry if this is repetitive, but did you have any atrophic scarring, or rolling scars that were tethered down? I was told to do dermabrasion before any more fillers but I can't see how dermabrasion will help with deeper atrophic scarring since it only sands off the top layer of your skin just to the top level of the dermis. I only have 1 icepick but a lot of the rolling and boxcar scars that are still deep in the dermis need to be dealt with before dermabrasion was my thought. I had a consult with "the man" and he didn't mention anything about it. So I was thinking subcision might take of this before derm. Or am I just thinking about this too much?
Misty- I have a section of my scars (about the size of a silver dollar) that literally looks like lumpy scar tissue. I cant even figure out what type of scars it is, its not keloid, it is pitted an uneven, with most of the scarring too wide for punch floats. I am seriously depressed over this section of scars, for some reason my other scars dont bother me as much. Sorry for the rambling, but i think the only way to get drastic improvements in this section of scars is to have Dr Y excise them. If you were in my situation, would you trust Dr Y to excise them? I am well aware of the possibility that there may be linear scarring left, but im praying there wont be, as Dr Y does seem to be the pioneer behind not leaving a linear scar when excising something. I think in one of your threads you mentioned something about Dr Y's opinions on the linear scarring left after excision. seems like he said he can stop a linear scar by doing a derma in the certain time frame. Yikes im really rambling now 😛 anyways, i would love any opinions you have on doing excision with a derma in the time frame dr y says.

Poey...are your pics still in the gallery? How are things looking now? Pigment/redness ect? Thanks
Hey Misty, Hope you're healing well from your latest dermabrasion. Hey, did you see the picture of that one guy with severe rolling scars all around in doctor Y's patient photo album? He had dermabrasion three times. What do you think in terms of % his total improvement was? Theoretically, since the surface of rolling scars and some boxcar scars are smooth and normal appearing, after a few dermabrasions and maybe a few injections of filler, like silicone, shouldn't the scars completely disappear? Since you've had 6 dermabrasions now, has that been your experience? If not, why do you think? Thanks alot. -Nic
Anyone going to NOLA in early Nov? I looked around for hotels and everything is booked and/or triple the normal rate. I found out that there is an American Heart Assoc. conference in town and there are supposed to be 4500 (maybe 45K?) Dr's in town. Therefore the high rates. Ouch

No, you do not have to stay over night for punch floats. I am having mine done next Monday and bought a plane ticket round trip for the same day. I will also have my consultation while I'm there and see where I can book a hotel for my dermabrasion in November... schedualed on the 9th!!
I never been to in New Orleans... a little nervous but have been patiently waiting for a long time for this.
I remember Leopola saying you can take a shuttle to Dr. Y's office instead of a cab which would be half the price. It is around $26 from the Airport to the office.
Does anyone know this for certain?
I will keep you all posted with my progress also.

Hi Sunblock. Yes, you can buy a roundtrip ticket from and back to the airport. The ticket counters are down by baggage claim (I think there's only one company, but there are several ticket counters). You just need to tell them where you are going and what the time of your return flight is, and they will arrange to pick you up at the same place where they drop you in enough time to make your flight (you can request to be picked up elsewhere as well). The price is $26.00 for the roundtrip (as opposed to the $35.00 each way flat cab rate) which is a great deal. It's also nice to tip the driver a few bucks, so figure about $30 for the whole deal--not bad at all.
good luck,

Kiki, poe, leopolda, animegirl, how are you all getting on? any pictures? i'd love to see how your skin is looking now. I plan on getting dermabrasion in April of next year...... I CANT WAIT! I hope all of you are still very happy with your results!!!!
PLEASE POST SOME PICS.......
Yes, your right Portland boy, I believe New Orleans would be great for a vacation and stuff... maybe when this is all said and done I would love to visit for that reason. I just looove their southern accents. My boyfriend is from the south and he has the same southern hospitality, it's great.
Thanks, Leo for the respond. Do you know if the shuttle drops you off infromt of the Nepoleon hospital or is it a walk away. I just confirmed with someone on the phone from dr. Y's office and she had said the shuttle would only drop you off downtown and it would be easier to take a cab. But I still will check with the shuttle idea since I know it has been done before.
( I will try to take pics and paste them on here but keep in mind that I am comp retarded) It might take a while.
