I found the discussion about 'turmeric' tonight and decided to try it. I just mixed some turmeric powder with a little water and applied it all over my face for about 20 mins. I rinsed it off and my face looked a light yellow colour! I was a bit worried but it came off with some foaming cleanser.
Well, i have to say it's made my skin feel really nice and feels calmer than before! I will do this every night from now on! Thanks for sharing the secret of turmeric! I now have hope that i can cure my acne and scars naturally and cheaply!
battwoman04 u can leave it overnight to get the result much faster because it not a acid so it will not burn u but it only stain your mark to yellow but u can wash it of use baby wipe towel or use cleaning soap or bakeing soda work best and result much faster if u use both turmeric and bakeing soda!
Turmeric cure also acne so u don't need use other product but u can use if u want on the morning since u can't put turmeric on the morning because it will not look good when u go out. I have not used it to treat acne or anything but its supposed to be effective. Makes you yellow tho.
& if you have a bad cough drink a bit of turmeric mixed in hot milk (make sure it hits your throat). The cough will be gone instantly
HELP!!!!
i just applied my turmeric powder (mixed with a bit of water) on my face, and when i tried to wash my hands, my fingers, which had touched and also applied the powder on my face, were still stained! i washed with normal hand soap as well as my facial cleanser.
so i quickly washed my face (about 5 mins after applying) with cleanser twice and my face still has a tinge of yellow! my fingers which had now been washed with soap/cleanser at least 4 times has also a slight yellow tinge. in fact, the other fingers which were totally clean before (no contact with the powder) is now also slightly yellowish due to using them to wash my face.
i read that someone used milk, i have no milk in my house and its 2am so i can't get it nearby.
pls pls help!!!!!
Hmm, do you have yogurt? Like someone mentioned they used milk or yogurt to get it off. Some other person mentioned that using oil like Jojoba or Emu will assist in getting the staining off your face. Also someone used daily peeling pads and scrub, I think, to get the staining off. I haven't tried the mask myself yet, so I can't say if these methods will help but this is what people that have tried it said. Hope it helps.
Edit: The OP says to use baking soda or washcloth. Maybe try that too.
Sorry i have to post 2nd post here because it also fade your scar from acne or red mark that left behind!!!
I have been going to alot pain about acne then scar from the past, I have spend all kind stuff try get rid of acne and scar chemica peel, skin lighting, skin bleaching, acne cream u name it. It cost me alot money not only it not helping but it geting worse Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation and more acne. Here why chemical peel it not safe and it not going work if u leave it to long it will burn your skin and get more Hyperpigmentation tca, lactic, glycolic, jessen, U have to stay in door for a month and wear sunscreen and u have to repeat treatment to see the result. Skin bleaching u have to use it 3 month to see result but without 1 day sunscreen that 3 month it useless. Acne cream makeing your acne worse because it will dry your skin out more it got bad chemical in it and it will cost u more acne. Stop going to the sun and get a tan that make your red mark even more Hyperpigmentation pop of waiting until it heal. Do not try peel at home Why because u don't know how your skin feel if even leave for extra minute it burn u will get more Hyperpigmentation and make it more worse.

While many of us are aware of the numerous benefits of this deep, exotic yellow spice, few incorporate turmeric in our daily use, other than sprinkling a little of it in our daal and subzi. Turmeric, a member of the ginger family, has been used for healing by Ayurvedic means, since time immemorial. Turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties, and is an excellent antiseptic. In addition, it is great for the skin. So before investing in an expensive beauty product, take a look in your kitchen.
The turmeric you get in packets is not the pure form, which is why it is best that you try and find someone who supplies pure turmeric powder, or use the root and make your own paste.
Here are just a few of the various benefits of turmeric:
Reduces Pigmentation
Plagued with pigmentation? Turmeric can help even out your skin tone and colour. Simply apply a little turmeric mixed with cucumber juice or lemon to the affected area. Leave on for fifteen minutes or more, and wash off. Do this everyday, and gradually you will notice your skin colour returning to normal.
Strengthens Bones
Drink a quarter glass turmeric juice every night, with milk. The best way to have this is to take a inch piece of turmeric and boil it with half a glass of milk. Once the milk has turned yellow, remove from fire, let it cool slightly, and sip this. This will cure numerous ailments. Women especially should drink this every night, as it strengthens bones and reduces the risk of developing osteoporosis.
Softens the Body
Turmeric is a wonderful body scrub, which is why Indian brides apply a turmeric and gram flour (besan) mix to their entire body, the morning of the wedding. It leaves your skin soft, smooth and glowing. Of course, a single application will not really make that much of a difference. Do this regularly, and watch your skin change for the better - much better.
Makes the Skin Supple
If you are planning a pregnancy, apply a mixture of turmeric and malai or turmeric and curd to your stomach and waist before going for a bath. Leave it on for fifteen minutes, and wash off. If desired, you could even apply this mixture after bathing. After you have washed off the soap, apply the malai and haldi mixture, leave it on for five minutes, and wash off only with water. Gently, wipe your stomach with the towel. The sooner you start this routine, the more supple and elastic your skin will become, and after giving birth, you will not be left with unsightly stretch marks.
Inhibits Cell Damage
Turmeric is an excellent anti-oxidant, which essentially means that it stabilizes unstable oxygen molecules. These are known as free radicals, and are what cause damage to cells, leading to ageing and various other diseases such as cancer.
Fights Diarrhoea
Turmeric fights the bacteria that causes diarrhoea, so the next time your stomach starts 'running', reach for some haldi. German health authorities have officially declared turmeric herbal tea to be a cure for loose stools.
Here are 20 reasons to add turmeric to your diet:
1. It is a natural antiseptic and antibacterial agent, useful in disinfecting cuts and burns.
2. When combined with cauliflower, it has shown to prevent prostate cancer and stop the growth of existing prostate cancer.
3. Prevented breast cancer from spreading to the lungs in mice.
4. May prevent melanoma and cause existing melanoma cells to commit suicide.
5. Reduces the risk of childhood leukemia.
6. Is a natural liver detoxifier.
7. May prevent and slow the progression of Alzheimer's disease by removing amyloyd plaque buildup in the brain.
8. May prevent metastases from occurring in many different forms of cancer.
9. It is a potent natural anti-inflammatory that works as well as many anti-inflammatory drugs but without the side effects.
10. Has shown promise in slowing the progression of multiple sclerosis in mice.
11. Is a natural painkiller and cox-2 inhibitor.
12. May aid in fat metabolism and help in weight management.
13. Has long been used in Chinese medicine as a treatment for depression.
14. Because of its anti-inflammatory properties, it is a natural treatment for arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
15. Boosts the effects of chemo drug paclitaxel and reduces its side effects.
16. Promising studies are underway on the effects of turmeric on pancreatic cancer.
17. Studies are ongoing in the positive effects of turmeric on multiple myeloma.
18. Has been shown to stop the growth of new blood vessels in tumors.
19. Speeds up wound healing and assists in remodeling of damaged skin.
20. May help in the treatment of psoriasis and other inflammatory skin conditions.
All around the world you can now avail of turmeric in the form of teas, capsules, tinctures, lotions, ointments and powder. However, here, you have access to turmeric in its purest form, so make the most use of it.
wow.....this is one i never heard of before.....i bought the powder form in an indian market, and im putting it on my face tonight.....tomorrow, im going to search for the root form also.....
i am a girl who has done EVERYTHING.....i have had MULTIPLE dermabrasions, co2 laser resurfacings, pulse dye laser sessions, radio waves, 11 fraxels, prescription hydroquinone creams, aspirin masks, AHA products, glycolic products etc. etc. etc....all for red marks that ive had for 10 YEARS......(so those of u that think time fades red marks, forget it)
im hoping this will do something....ANY BENEFICIAL EFFECT AT ALL WOULD MAKE ME GET DOWN ON MY KNEES AND RENEW MY FUKIN FAITH IN LIFE...
This sparked my interest. It sounded like an old cure my parents once told me. I asked them about it last night - turns out turmeric is what they were talking about
They told me they both had deep acne scarring but were too poor to afford any treatment. Turmeric was used every night and washed off in the morning. Apparently it cured their scars.
Turmeric may help fade Red Marks (hyperpigmentation left after acne) but...don't be fooled.
Turmeric will do absolutely NOTHING to fill-in and permanently level/remove atrophic (indented, shallow, deep, ice pick, rolling boxcar etc. or any kind of pitted/indented scarring)
.. if you believe your atrophic scars will magically fade away, be prepared to deal with a "magically" Yellow face and huge disappointment.
No offense to the original poster... Turmeric may work great to fade Hyperpigmentation, but this topic should be moved to the Red Mark forum. It does not belong in the scar forum as Red marks are NOT SCARS.

Did you completely disregard Helio's post that is right above yours?
Hey everyone,
Bicarbonate of soda mixed into a paste with a little water gets the stain out! And then just wash with your normal foaming cleanser. If you use a flat ended cosmetic cotton bud to apply turmeric paste to your face you will not stain your hands! :-0
thanks! i havent had the chance to buy it today, i also do not have yoghurt in my house as suggested by another forumer, but after washing my face again when i woke up, the yellow tinge is more or less gone. though i felt that there was still a teeny weeny bit of yellow, perhaps a psychological thing.
that also got me thinking about what someone wrote earlier in this thread, would the yellow turmeric and my yellow asian skin really add up to me being more yellow?! indians are the main users of this skincare method, and yellow turmeric might have a more complementing effect on their brown skin, as well as for those with white skin.
actually im getting a bit lazy just thinking that i not only have to mix the turmeric powder into a paste, which applying it wasnt that a breeze as bits and pieces of remnants would fall off (leaving the yellow stain on the skin to work) so i have to apply in the toilet and clean up the sink and surrounding areas after that, and then now i have to mix a bicarbonate paste to wash off the stains. would the bicarbonate be drying for the skin?
i guess that says im not that desperate at this point to be willing to put in that little more effort. i have actually been eyeing led lights to help in my skin, and as crazy as it is, i think i am more willing to spend the money on lights (~$500) than spend the time and effort on the turmeric!
oh yes, having said that, with the short 5 mins of putting the turmeric paste on my skin (cheeks, forehead, chin), this bulging pimple which had been a resident for days did decrease a little. i would think its due to the turmeric as i had not applied any other product on it that night.
