Funny you should metnion the cholesterol thing.... I have familia hypercholestemia (spelling). Have tried statins but i don't like how they make me feel. I will need to start on something before i hit 30 though. They aren't really pronounced but they are very unusual and certainly noticible to yourself and others close up.
Have you tried curcumin for your cholesterol? Do the fish oils even alter your LDL cholesterol?
the fish oil doesnt really alter the ldl directly, but its just good for the heart, which in turn makes things run a bit smoother. i dot think i notice any additional scarring, sometimes i think i do (very small ones) but it might just be in my head. would this have started pretty much right after finishing accutane or could i all of a sudden get symptoms 4 years later? have you tried taking collagen sups? i ordered some hydrolyzed collagen which has 30mg vitamin c, 3,000mg hydrolyzed collagen, and 45mg l-ornithine per serving and its recommended to take 2 servings a day. not sure if this will do anything, but i thought i would give it a try...
Well It sounds like you may of suffered from it at some point, it doesn't mean they are still forming though....Type in AMVC scarring into google. Dr Chu had never heard of it, but when i showed him the condition he agreed that was probably what i had. He described them as 'sausages' lol. It may no longer be active in yourself so just keep an eye on it.
Ok, I have had another scar appear overnight, again a very small scratch like scar. Could you please tell me what you think I need to do, and what I should avoid.
I hope they respond well to dermaroller.
Thank you.
Goodlife, sorry if you have already answered this but do you take any vitamin A, any form of omega or oil supplements etc? Have you had any laser procedures recently etc?
The more info you can give me the better, i believe the condition is caused when there is inflammation within the dermis of the skin.
I was taking a cod liver oil multivitamin, which has 100% rda of vitamin a, but I wasn't taking it for very long and I have stopped now. I used to take fish oil a few years ago.
I haven't had any laser or any scar treatments.
I have taken antibiotics for acne when I was younger, eventually going on roaccutane 5 years ago.
I have taken anti depressants in the past year ( amitriptyline ) along with other medications, ( motillium, omaprazole and a steroid nasal spray )
These might mean nothing but I thought I would tell you everything I have been taking. I also suffer from hay fever in the summer and sometimes take fenofexadine hydrochloride.
I should stay away from Vitamin a and fish oil right?
Does anyone prepare the skin with anything OTHER than Hibiscrub? I'm looking for an alternate method since Hibiscrub is not readily available in the U.S.I asked on another post if you can just wash the face, but I assume this creates a higher chance for infection.
After I get my Terproline I'm ready to start needling. I can't wait :)!
I live in the US and I had no trouble finding Hibiclens (same thing) at Walgreens.

Thanks you Minty Peas! 🙂
Does it aggravate your skin at all? I'm glad to see they have it at Walgreens, I should have checked when I bought the pen needles there.
Does anyone find this cause for concern?
"Do not use:
if you are allergic to chlorhexidine gluconate or any other ingredients in this preparation
as a patient preoperative skin preparation of the head or face
in contact with the meninges
in the genital area
on wounds that involve more than the superficial layers of the skin."
I'm assuming this was already taken into consideration since a good number of people have used it for needling, but it's always better to be safe than sorry.
What kind of skincare regimen do you guys have between the needlings/rolls? When I treated my acne I went the natural way and didnt use any chemical washes or moisturizers and only used natural stuffs like lemons, olive oil and so on and that did great for my acne and im now alomst acne free.
I do not get any results on the redmarks and the scars the natural way though and wondering which products you guys use? Im gonna start with needling and dermarolling but wants to know what products to use on a daily basis.

If you took the cod liver multivitamin recently, then this is where the problem lies. Not only does it contain high amounts of Vitamin A but it has omega fatty acids aswell. I can't tell you exactly why but for some reason omega 3 and high doses of vitamin A can cause some nasty problems in people who have taken accutane. So yes just avoid these and watch closely over the next few weeks. The other drugs etc shouldn't be a problem.
MCHLLE there is nothing wrong with fish oils unless you have taken accutane, in which case they may pose a problem, in rare cases.

You are welcome. I'm glad you were able to find it. 🙂
I understand your concern with the Hibiclens. The explanation lies in the words "preoperative skin preparation". Preoperative skin preparation is different to simply cleansing, which is what we are doing. Always rinse thoroughly after using. In preoperative skin preparation the site is swabbed liberally and then left to dry. It is not rinsed off.

Lamarris this the same then, for those who took Accutane, the same as eating fish (such as salmon) or ingesting omega 3's in the form of olive oil inour food??/ is it best to avoid these foods???
Dietry intake is unlikely to match supplement, unless your going crazy with fish every day of the week....Olive oil is ok in small quantities to, it is more the fish oil that is a problem.
I would avoid it for the next month or so, then begin it again, whilst closely watching your skin!!cheers
Thanks for the help lamarr, appreciate it. Should I tale an anti histamine as well?
Sorry if you have already answered this but, where did you get your dermaroller from?
Would it be beneficial to roll over red marks as well?
Thanks again.
I would leave it a while before you do anything. Taking the anti histamine will do no harm just get one of the 24 hour ones. Some people find hyperpigmentation fades faster when they use the dermaroller so it may help you aswell. I used to get my rollers from ebay....just the 3 line dr rollers.
As i said don't do anything for a few weeks until the spontaneous scarring totally stops.
Taking an anti histamine the day before and a few days after you roll may be a good idea aswell...
Good life i think we need a good chat man...Do you have MSN or alike? We need to try and establish whats going on with your skin. Do you have any diffuse redness, where is the 'acne' located? Accutane can induce rosacea like symptoms include the papules and pustules which come along with rosacea. It can also induce folliculitis which causes some bad scarring.
How long since you stopped the cod liver oil? I KNOW that is the cause so it is just a matter of time until the scarring stops my friend. Try and stay calm i know exactly what your going through.
When i was visiting dermatologists until i found Tony Chu.... they all thought i was mad. My dad ended up arguing with several of them (He gave me several if the refferals as he is a dentist with a docterate) explaining that it was not in my head, i was indeed waking up with spontaneous indented lines over my face.
Keep taking the anti histamine every day and remember to keep vitamin A intake right down for the moment...along with obviously the fish/cod liver oils and any flaxseed etc.
Take care dude

Sent you a PM.
My acne is mild/moderate, need to get it under control before I start dermarolling.
a few years after accutane my acne came back but only moderate with occasional cysts. i have not washed my face with any type of soap or cleanser in about a month and my face has never been this clear except for when i finished accutane. i read an interesting article about how washing you face with water only allows your skin to produce its natural oils. i have a friend who had bad cystic acne for years and tried everything and went to almost every derm in the area and the only thing that worked for him was this method.. i swear by it.. i would try it out if i was u.. u will notice pretty soon if its working, so if its not then its no big loss...
