so mun you've been rolling for over a year now right? how much of an improvement have you had since you started. i've rolled 2 times so far, going to again this week. so far my skin has become smoother and some hyperpigmentation has faded but my scars haven't changed.

Hard to put a number on it andrewstoppable because each scar seems to respond differently. I have had some scars that have seen alot of improvement. To the point they are barely noticeable at best. And other scars have been some what resistant to the needling/rolling. And then you factor in that certain scars look much improved with minimal improvements and other scars may look like they are still very noticeable despite improving quite a bit. So again, it depends on the scar and the many factors that can come in to play in how it looks and responds to the treatment.. I have made some good progress overall..But again, many of my worst scars have been very slow going and still bother me alot. But I do feel like I'm making some progress despite how slow it is. And I feel I can make more progress if I continue doing what I have been.

pogo and mun,

are you using led lights to facilitate better healing/treating with dermarolling?

that really ups your chances of eliminating the scarring.

Honeygirl, I do use led's. I still have not used the yellow led and I do believe this has slowed my progress. But I want to purchase one asap and add it to my routine. And I know when I do it will jump start more improvements. So I'm looking forward to that.

Just an update..I added a yellow led to my routine starting today..I will be using this daily with my red led and still using blue twice a week.. Hopefully this helps to give me greater improvements from my treatment efforts. I will keep you guys posted.

Hi,

I'm doing dermarolling too and i wish all of us luck in this long journey.

Anyway I hope to incorporate copper peptides with regular/daily rolling into my regime for better penetration. Does anyone have any idea how long the needles should be (.5mm or .75mm or ?) and where can I get good CP?

Thanks loads!! :)

Ive been on the acne.org regimen for years now to stay clear. Im wondering if I can have dermarolling done and still continue with the regimen in order to prevent breakouts?

I wouldn't put the roller in anything hot. You might degrade the structural integrity of the roller's plastic handle.

Just wanted to say this Munsoned:

I have been following your post's and previous posts the last month and I think you are really incredible for being so loyal to keep your updates here.

As you stated before the scars will not go away just like that you will have to keep at it. Have you considered to massage the area vigoriously for an half hour and then perform the dermaroller? Or after the dermarolling session, massaging every day is also very important.

Are you taking some supplements aswell?

Anyways I think that your skin has improved (even though i have not seen it) but that it just goes so slow. I bet you can say that your skin has improved since 2008? I am sure you can say that.

I think you are a wonderful person and I am looking forward to your future posts, dont get discouraged, you are doing what you can, and that is better then doing nothing.

PS sorry, for my incorrect English, as I am not a American/English person.

Is it just me that hides away after down time from rolling?

It's hard walking around hoping people arent staring at you with red marks/scabbing all over your face. I think it might be best to do your whole face at once and only have 1 downtime week every 2 months instead 2-4 downtime weeks in maller patches. Thoughts?

I am also wondering if age has anything to do with healing as I am quite young and hence want to try eliminate a lot of my scarring before the age of 20. I just wish there was no downtime...

Keep up the awesome work Munsoned you have been a great help to me in getting my treatments under way.

jim, i do my entire face at once. at a time when i can hide in my house for 2 days so no one but my family has to see. usually after 2 days it looks almost normal, then on day 4-5 it usually peels and then i just shave and all the dead skin comes off.

as for a update on my scars: my skin is generally smoother, it looks like my ice picks are getting smaller, i have a raised scar that i'd say is 30% better. however my skin is a total mess right now because spring kind of snuck up on me and i've been getting minor sun burns. so i can't really comment on how my hyper-pigmentation spots are doing. doing 4th treatment within the next week.

thank you very much for the support Nilou.. I truely appreciate it!:) Your english is excellent..Are you currently rolling?? If so, how long have you been doing it?? I most definitely have achieved results since I began in 2008..I have ice pick scars which are very difficult to treat..But difficult and "cannot be done" are two different things. I could have quit a long time ago but what good would that have done?? I never quit because I have never stopped achieving results. And I have been rewarded by never giving up because my skin is improving still more and more every week.

Best of luck with any current treatments you are doing.:)

That is great to hear andrew..Just keep at it and don't give up. In 2 years you could be a guy still looking for a treatment for scars or a guy who never gave up and who's scars are barely noticeable by anyone.

Jimhouse, I don't hide a way so much. More then normal but I still do things if need be..I don't think I roll as aggressive anymore because I'm not having to roll as much of my skin any more because there is less problem skin/scars to work on. So I isolate specific area's or clusters of scars..So my down time is not as bad as it used to be. And there are many factors that come in to play with how your skin heals. Age is one of them. But don't think you can't improve scars as you get a bit older. Maybe have to work that much harder at it but it can be done. Keep up the great work buddy! 🙂

A small update..I'm obviously still going at it..I have been trying different approaches to see if I can manage any better results then simply doing things by the book. I try thinking out side of the box.

I am still using a 2.0mm roller. I am starting to think the 2.0mm may be slightly more effective then a 1.5mm. Understand I used a 1.5mm for over a year and a 2.0mm for only months so far so..But I'm just putting my thoughts out there. I see improvements since adding the 2.0mm I had not seen before..I have had no/zero new scarring as a result of using the 2.0mm roller. nothing but positive results thus far.

I am using my led's daily and using a ph correct 20% vitamin c serum.

Another technique I'm using is using my roller like a derma stamp. rtaking it and puncturing a area of scars over and over. And combining that with some rolling to try and get better coverage of that area. I'm also still individually needling my deepest most stubborn scars..

Besides this I am currently rolling on a different schedule..I will roll once every 1 to 2 weeks for several months followed by a month or 2 down time and repeat. I am not rolling my entire face but rather isolating specific clustered area's of scars.. I'm not suggesting anybody do this. I'm telling you what I'm doing..I have had nothing but positive results so far. If you feel this method is wrong ect..don't do it. I have been rolling for a long time.. I reached the point I'm at by trial and error. I have plenty of experience. I'm following the methods I see working the best for myself. Not the method anybody tells me I should use.

Best of luck to all of those out there who are fighting..Don't give up the fight!

wow, munsoned! you are a brave, brave soul!

Just after dermarolling do you find that your skin looks waaay too bad to go out inpublic?

especially if u r using a 2.00mm roller?

Am i correct in recalling u saying you have olive/dark skin? you haven't had any issues with pigment changes from dermarolling?

and how much improvement since you started have u had, percentagewise???

what is the best cream you have used right after dermarolling to facilitate great healing?

sorry for all the questions!

Hey, munsoned

So are you saying that you dermaroll clusters about every 2 weeks for a while, and then take a big break? And you see results not by swelling? even though you're needling more often? Thanks.

I have been needling off and on for a year, and have not experienced much improvement in a couple of deeper scars, so I may try something akin to your method.

It's funny you also mentioned sticking the dermaroller straight in like a dermastamp, as I had thought about this, it seems there would probably less 'tearing'.

Honeygirl, obviously my skin after rolling is not looking so great. But it is not terrible either. You could go out in public if need be. Yes, I have darker skin. Not super dark unless I get sun. I'm half italian and half irish but I got more of the italian side in me and my skin is on the darke/olive side. And I have not had a single pigment issue. In fact, my skin had plenty of pigment issues before I started rolling but few if any now. Rolling also speeds up the healing of spots after a break out. If I get a break out. I give it a few punctures with the roller and it is gone in no time. I also credit the led lights for helping with improving any pigment issues I had.

It is hard to put a percent on improvement honeygirl..What I always say when asked that is this. Every scar responds differently. I have had some scars improve a great deal and some scars not respond well at all. But overall my skin is greatly improved..And I feel if I simply continue doing what I'm doing I will keep improving.

I started off using copper peptides but I switched to vitamin c serum along the way and will only use vitamin c serums on my skin. My skin does not respond well to anything else I have ever tried as far as break outs ect...Hope this helps and good luck.:)

Correct smoothmove..I roll isolated clustered area's of scars every 1-2 weeks..I just go by what I see..When I feel I can roll again I do..Usually that is about 7-21 days later...Yes, I see results that are not micro swelling. I believe when I roll and then roll again say 2 weeks later. It does not destroy what the previous roll did. I believe it only adds to the process that has allready begun. So when you take a month break after many rolling sessions the skin is greatly improved from the first session of the bunch of sessions you did. And then as the weeks go on the skin heals further from the more recent rolls. In a nutshell it is like the skin never stops healing and improving. even when you roll only weeks after a previous rolling the skin had started healing allready and that does not stop despite rolling again, it only builds and builds and builds..That is what I am seeing..

It dawned on me a long time ago that I was noticing that with 1-2 weeks roughly the majority of improvements from rolling would happen in that time span. (And I do believe these first 1-2 weeks after rolling is a critical time to use the led's).. And then the remaining 4-6 weeks very little improvements happened. But I was affraid to act on it because it was not what others said was the best way to roll. I finally realized it was time to start following what I felt was the right method for me. And the traditional rolling method definitely helped..But the worst of my scarring seemed to need something more, something different to basicly force them to improve.

Yeah, why not use the roller like a derma stamp?? I stamp up the area of scars real good. And by doing so I puncture more of the area then rolling alone would. Then I follow that up with a roll. By isolating clustered area's of scars it is much easier to do treatments. And there is less tearing. It is also less painfull in my opinion to stamp then roll.. and is a great way to prep the skin for rolling..By the time you roll the skin is some what numb and rolling is not as painfull.

taurus girl, I use a vitamin c serum I buy off ebay called (bella hut)..I emailed tons of different c serum sellers and asked what the ph balance was of their c serum. And I finally found a seller who had the correct stuff I needed. Turned out I was using a c serum for months that was not the correct ph balance.
