Thanks for the replies Andrew and Munsoned, I posted that after my first roll (rolled half my scars and the downtime was reasonably noticeable). Since then I have rolled the rest of my scars and the scabbing really wasnt to bad for some reason. I believe I rolled harsher the second time round also. I remembered your advice munsoned to use the roller like a stamp on some scars and I really like this! Funny you say you believe the most healing happens in the first couple of weeks after needling because I thought I was seeing things when I thought I saw very slight improements on my scars but perhaps not! Anyway for now I will probably just be rolling every 6-8 weeks but I can't wait to see how your new technique goes for you
As for the age factor I have no doubt you can get just as much improvement as me and for your sake hopefully more. In my case I'm just hoping being a bit younger helps my healing. I am yet to purchase any led's and I might hold out on them for awhile and see what my skin looks like within the next 4-6 months. By then I'll easily be able to afford them but for now I hope nature helps me heal well.
Glad to hear the roller helps heal recent breakout wounds(in the healing stage) quicker as I do get some minor ones as well. I can't wait to do my 2nd roll because I'll be more confident and know exactly what I'm doing this time. I'll pop in from time to time and see where your at Munsoned.
Good luck fellas!
I agree that 2 weeks might be a good time frame for the next roll. I saw Dr. Sire for saline injections (there has been a lot of discussion about him in other threads) and he recommended I come back every 2 weeks for about 2 months. With that being said, everyone heals differently so this might be too short of a time frame for some people.
Munsoned!
You are awesome to take the time to reply to us here! thank you so much!
is it difficult to use the roller as a dermastamp? I would think it would still slightly roll if u attempt to use it as a stamp????
I was about to order the dermastamp from divine beauty but it's waaay expensive. the dermaroller is much cheaper and if i can use it as a stamp will do.
tell me pls, how many times would u 'stamp' a scar that you had???
I am really worried about using the leds on my skin. I too am slightly dark skin like you, so have decided to just do the dermaroll/stamp followed by a good moisturiser and using supplements to help enhance healing
have you found icepick scars the least successful at healing with dermaroller?
thanks again!

No problem at all honeygirl..We are all kind of learning as we go along so it is helpfull for all of us to share our experiences with each other..
I don't find it difficult to stamp with the roller. A little practice will go a long way I'm sure. I think the derma stamp can be a very helpfull piece to the puzzle. But it does cost alot and I'm not sure if you can get them in a size larger then a 1.5mm?? If not I don't know how much more it would do then a 1.5mm roller. If you could get them in a size 2.5/3mm needle length I would shell out the cash for it. But for now I just do my best with my 2.0mm roller. I don't have a set number of stamps I do to a scar. I just go by what I see. I stop when I feel like I have done a good job. I try to see punctures in the scar and around the scar and blood from each puncture. After I puncture several holes in the scar and around it. I then roll a bit to just make sure I hit that area well.
It is ok if you're not comfortable using the led's. I can't sit here and say that with or without them you can or cannot achieve X amount of results..I use them and still have alot left I hope to achieve. So just do what you're doing and see how things go.
My icepick scars have been very hard to treat. At times I feel like I am getting no where with many of them. But I'm not one to just give up. I am trying different things and I'm trying to find a way to get my most stubborn icepicks moving along. The bad news is plenty of them are still acting like they will never improve. The good news is I have begun improving icepicks that at one time I thought the same thing about. So that gives me hope to keep doing what I'm doing. Only time will tell but I'm going to keep fighting.:)
How is the new 2 week method coming along for you munsoned? I am eager to roll again even though it has been only 5 weeks since my first roll. I think I will go ahead with it because like most people, your first roll is merely a practice run as you learn how to use the roller.
Hi Munsoned!
thanks for the great information!
Yes, I have heard that the icepicks can be difficult to resolve, but not impossible.
I went to see a beautician/cosmetician, who told me my scars were minor and shallow, so ahve decided to start off with a 0.8mm dermastamp, and kinda work my way up from there.
she told me to try and get my skin use to it, first before jumping into using a 1.5mm
she also said that she would not use a 1.5mm on the forehead area, cos the skin there is so thin, but on the cheek area a 1.5mm would work okay, cos its more fleshy. what do u think?
also, could u share what topicals (creams other than numbing cream) that u use to heal your skin after rolling?
best wishes, and here's to beautiful skin!!
Honey
I can tell you that munsoned does roll his forhead with a 1.5-2mm sized roller and has improved his scarring with it. I am currently doing the same but I only did my second roll last night and have yet to recieve any results thus far. I have a bad feeling I might be causing more scarring(more like scarred pores) with rolling but only time will tell. I believe some of my deeper scars are also improving though even after just the 1 roll.
I am currently in a down period from my treatments..Just letting my skin recover and improve. I'm seeing more and more of my scars improve..I have a cluster of small ice pck scars/scarred pores on the left side of my face. It is just a messy area. About 9/10 scars..They have been so stubborn. But they have really improved a great deal. Only 4/5 of them are really noticeable and barely noticeable at that. I may not even have to treat this area ever again. I'll see how they progress the next month or so..I still have scars, and some of them still don't look to have budged. But more and more of my scars that seemed to have never responded finally are. I'm finding ways to get them moving.
I purchased a 3 line 3mm roller that I'm going to use to "stamp/roll" 1 of my worst/deepest scars that has not responded. I figure I may be able to achieve what I could with my 5mm indivdual needling but even better because I can increase the volume of punctures with the roller to insure no area escapes. Will post updates down the road when I have some answers.
Munsoned,
Nice hearing from you. Somewhere down the road, when you think
you have some "data", could you compare the 1.5mm to the 2.0.
Was it more painful, did you change anything as far a your procedure?
Were you a little more "scared" or "hesitant" to roll 2.0 because of
the length? Is healing time longer?? And results, do you feel its
superior to the 1.5? I was thinking in my next roll (September) of
switching to a 2.0 mm, and rolling even less often.
thanks

Thanks alot sd..By the way, I think the yellow led has def helped! I use it about 2m per side of my face each morning..
In my experience the 2mm has been more effective. Just all around better. Better on shallow scars, and better on deeper scars that did not seem to respond to the 1.5mm roller..My procedure has changed. I do a combination stamp/roll on smaller isolated area's of scars. I may do one side of my face over the course of a couple days and break it down into 4 area's..Do 1 area in the morn then another at night and repeat the next day. I don't worry if I only do one side of my face and don't get to the other side or my forehead. I can do them the next weekend or whatever..And I don't follow any real rules or routine. I go by what I see. If I roll an isolated area of my face and I see it responding favorably to the treatment I'll leave it be until I feel progress has plateaued..If I have an isolated area of scars or even a single scar that just does not seem to be progressing then something has to change because obviously what I'm doing is not working..So I get creative. I may roll that area or scar once every 10-21 days until I have treated it 2-4 times in a short amount of time. Basicly just bombard it with treatments. Then just allow it to recover and heal. See if it finally starts to respond. If it does, I'll leave it be til I feel progress has plateaued.
I do not notice any real difference in pain between a 1.5 and 2m roller. I was not the slightest bit nervous or hesitant to roll with the 2mm and will not be when I use the 3mm. The down time is no different between the 2 needle lengths as far as redness. But in regards to the collagen production there could be. I'm taking my longest down time right now. About 2 months and some scars are still improving while others seem to have plateaued allready.
Keep up your great work my friend.
Im happy for you!Can I just add a question regarding the 2mm roller, did you use it on your forhead scarring?
yes I do jimhouse.
Actually you can find a 1.8mm stamp on amazon.com.

Hi Munsoned,
I've already used three times a 1.5 mm roller on my face. So far the results are decent on my icepicks scars and on my skin texture even if the improvement is not impressive. I give myself 1 year and a half to judge the results (with deep rolling every 5-6 weeks).
I would like to ask you something. I've bought on the Internet some Pure Ascorbic Acid Cristals and each day I mix it with water in order to make my own serum. Before applying it, I slightly roll my face with a 0.5 mm roller for skin products penetration. Do you think it's a good idea?
When I roll myself with my 1.5 mm dermaroller (until my face is covered with blood) the redness last for 3 or 4 days. Do you think I can switch to a 2.0 mm dermaroller in order to enhance the results even if some people say it's counterproductive to use such a length of needles.
I'm really tired of my scars all over my face and even my neck. They are some much deeper and more numerous than what I can see in real life or on the internet and they have litteraly ruined my life. I spend all my time looking at my scars in the mirror in every possible position. Now I really want to get rid of them in order to focuss myself on more positive things (maybe find a girlfriend ).
Sorry for the bad english, I'm french.
@icepikachu: I don't have any advice for you regarding the dermaroller. However, I totally know how deflating it is to see your scars in the mirror over and over again. I used to do the same - just looking and examining and wishing things were better. I have to say, my mood and overall quality of life got better once I decided to stop looking in the mirror so often. I made a conscious decision to stop examining myself so much because looking at my scars doesn't change their appearance at all. I know it is only a small thing, but there was something about not always looking at myself and my scars that helped me feel better about myself over time. It won't help you forget how you look, but it might help you stop thinking about it every second of the day. I wish you the best of luck with your scar improvement attempts.

Thanks Lyllia for your reply. I's highly appreciated .
Currently, I'm continuing my routine based on Ascorbic Acid mixed with water, Tretinoin and Dermaroller. I'm not sure to continue to use tretinoin because I've seen a report in France about fake medications from Asia and I bought my tretinoin on Alldaychemist. It seems to be a serious seller but it's hard to track the origins of their products.
For me it's almost impossible not to look in the mirror several times a day. Sometimes, i'm seeing some improvements and I'm quite happy while other times the things are still the same and that make me crazy.
Yesterday, i decided to switch from 1.5 mm dermaroller to 2.0 mm dermaroller. I also bought a 3.0 mm dermaroller. I will be really really careful with this one as I don't want to make things more bad as they are. But I know my skin is pretty thick with good healing capabilities. I can roll and stamp with my 1.5 mm for 40 mm with a lot of pressure and be red just for 2-3 days.
Hope it will work.
It's really hard to judge the improvement of my skin after 4 dermaroller sessions. So far i guess j've had maybe 15% improvement. It make me smile to see people think they will have 70-80% results after one or two rolls. Personnaly, I know my fight against acne scarring is a long and hard struggle that will take at least 1 year and a half or more. The key is to be consistent and not to give up.

just as a side comment - you must never ever EVER use the 3mm dermaroller on your face. it is designed for stretchmarks and other scars located on your body. they havent been designed for use on the face. the skin on your face is not as deep and you may end up with even more scarring.
