Hey Munsoned,

So when you needle/roll, do you not LED at all for the first week and then start using LED's after that first week?

Mclarensupra, sorry for the confusion. No, I do use the led's the first week I roll. I use the led's a little more the first week while the skin is in that initial healing stage after rolling. I do my first led session about an hour after I roll. I do 10 minutes per side of my face, 30 minutes total. I do this for the first 7 days starting with the day I roll. 3-4 of those days I also use the blue led for 30 minutes total. Starting the second week I do 5 days with the red led and then 2 days with the blue. I do the 5 red and 2 blue every week from that point on.

Did you see the recent post by Lamarr for the "lightwave cs" led??? I am really looking forward to purchasing one and taking it to that next level.

Latly I have done some exfoliation with this product: http://www.dermalogica.com/us/products.htm...ly-microfoliant

But then I read in a thread here how exfoliating can damage the collagen induction?! Sounds strange, or does anyone know if this is true? I had dermarolling performed about 1 and half week ago and I dont want to ruin my results....But I really like how good my skin gets from this product.

the newly formed collagen is fragile so it might not be a good idea.

I dont understand this..Doesnt collagen come deep below the skin surface, doesnt this peel only effect the upper level of the skin?

The ads for the dermaroller say that you can use the smaller sized mm 5 days a week lightly or once a week vigorously and acheive the same results. Is it a waste to try it this way? I don' t know that I have the stomach to try what you all are doing.

Thanks for explaining, and yeah I heard about it, but I think its kind of expensive from what I heard, i'm not really sure on the price of it though. I've been needling for 5 months so far and its going well hopefully by next year I will have even greater improvement.

So, I have been using a 1.5mm dermaroller for about two months now and have a question for everyone about it.

When I complete a session of rolling, I don't use any numbing cream, I don't really feel much pain and I have never seen any blood. From what I have read in a bunch of posts on this site, my experience seems unusual... I use quite a lot of pressure when I roll - but I am also careful not to press too hard because I don't want the needles to get stuck while rolling and cause damage to the skin.

Has anyone else ever used a 1.5mm roller with relatively little pain? Is it possible I am just not sensitive to pain or am I doing something wrong? I have noticed that on my cheek with a lot of scars that it only tingles a little but on my other cheek with less scars it hurts a lot more. I wonder if the lack of pain has something to do with the extensive (and old) scarring on that cheek.

Any thoughts?

Have you watched the videos on dermarolling on youtube?

I doubt you are pressing hard enough.

hey munsoned,

found an interesting article for ya (and all!).

I posted it on the main board, but I didn't want

u to miss it. hope your doing well.......................

_____________________________________________

found an interesting article from the Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery,

April 2008 on dermarolling. has some great statistics and pics and general info:

http://www.dermogenesis.com/clinical/clin_art.php?aid=151

RESULTS FROM DERMAROLLING STUDY:

QUOTE (p. 1425):

"Patient Satisfaction

In 50 patients treated in Germany (15 cases

with scars and stretch marks and 35 with wrinkles),

patient satisfaction was evaluated prospectively before

percutaneous collagen induction and 12

months postoperatively by the patient themselves

using a visual analogue scale (0 absolutely dissatisfied

and 10 completely satisfied). In group

I (wrinkles), the average preoperative score was

4.5 (range, 2 to 5), which improved significantly to

8.5 (range, 7 to 10) postoperatively. Group II

(scarring) also improved significantly from 3.0

(range, 1 to 5) to 7.5 (range, 7 to 8); and so did

group III (lax skin/striae), from 3.5 (range, 2 to

5) to 8.0 (range, 7 to 9) (Table 2). "

...... had some happy campers from rolling (these

were 1 treatment , 3mm, done "surgically", which

we can't do at home).

pogo: Yes, I have watched them a number of times and am trying to replicate exactly what I see (except for the use of numbing cream). I don't know if there is a good way to describe it or not, but about how much pressure do you use? Does your hand get tired during a session?

Another session in the books...I rolled and needled. I used the diabetic needles like always and my second time using the tattoo needles as well that forum member 'plumpy" suggested..Heres a link to Plumpies post about the tattoo needles for anybody interested..

http://www.acne.org/messageboard/Needling-...l&hl=plumpy

I have found these needles to be a positive addition. I needle with the diabetic needles first..Hitting the scar from all angles..I really try to focus on getting under the scar with the diabetic needles..Then I hit them with the tattoo needles..I follow PLUMPIES directions..Then I roll with my 1.5mm roller. Followed by led session which I do 7 days a week still. I am having to individually needle less and less scars each time I do a treatment..Scars becoming so shallow I can just let the roller finish them off..

I made good progress over the summer and was as dedicated as can be....I finally got most of my most stubborn scars to start showing noticeable improvement..That has been a real up lifting thing to see..Still plenty of work left to do but I continue to improve..

I plan on making the most of this winter and making as much progress as possible in this time..I am more motivated then ever!!

congragulations on another sucessful roll.......

also on your progress. Its exciting and awesome....

Had a couple of questions. Got my first 1.5 roll in the

books a few days ago.

1. I didn't have tons of blood. A lot of tiny blood spots

which I just wiped with sterile saline after finishing. Does

that sound about right to you with a 1.5 roll?

2. My main question...... I used EMLA numbing cream

and wrapped it for an hour. I did one cheek, waited 2 hours,

another cheek waited 2 hours, and then my forehead 2 hrs later.

When I initally started, the area was numb and it went well, but

after just a few minutes of rolling just one cheek area I could feel

the pain of the needle. I didn't put tons on emla on, and after removing

the saran wrap there was still some there, which I wiped off. Anyway

this roll was a struggle because of the pain. I just sucked it up and had

a good roll, but was difficult. The only thing I can think of is to really

goop on the emla before rolling, and perhaps buy a small roller to

penetrate. Maybe wait longer than an hour??? I was actually thinking

of shifting to a dermastamp, maybe the straight punching would be

less painful??

any thoughts are appreciated.

MeMe, you can't draw any conclusions after 6 days. It takes a good 6 weeks for the results to start showing...And the results are very incremental and require many treatments..You have to be very patient and just keep at it. Some scars may get larger before they get better. But in your case just wait 6 weeks, then go get another session done. Just keep repeating this process so you continue to achieve results.

Thank you SD:) glad to hear you are on your way now also..Its ok that you did not get "tons" of blood spots. The fact you got some on your first roll means you are off to a good start. Most fail to get any for there first session. As you contine doing it more and more you'll get the hang of it and know what it takes to give yourself a good treatment with the roller. If the emla is wearing off on one cheek and the pain is an issue you could split you treatments up by several hours. apply emla on one cheek, then roll and several hours later do the other cheek. This way you roll when your freshly numb on both cheeks. Just a suggestion that might help..

I have never derma stamped so I can't comment on the pain of that compared to rolling??

Don't mention it meme..Scars will do all kinds of crazy things during this process..They can change several times and stay that way for many months..But if you keep at it and don't give up..eventually the skin remodels and you have healthy skin.

hey munsoned, sounds like you have good results going on! Pity that there isn't any pics to show but nevertheless keep up the good work!

Just fyi, yeah the scars do get bigger from what I notice and it may even seem worse but if you wait for a few weeks, you will notice some improvements so don't feel down when your skin doesn't look at its best during the first 1 to 3 weeks.

thanks for the advice munsoned. i guess its the waiting

game now for me until I roll again. To be honest, im kinda

sick of the rolling/scars/led's etc....... I know in a year

I wil have improved a lot but it all gets old. Anyway, hope

your doing well and thumbs up on a sucessful roll. Have to

say I was REALLY nerveous about a 1.5 roll and it went

smoothly.

SD, I know it can get frustrating. I just think of it all as a step closer to the goal. I think the further along you get and the more results you start seeing the more motivated you will be. You start understanding the importance of each second you hold that led up to your face. And you begin to appreciate what is happening. Thats how I feel. I sit in front of the led's for 30 minutes a day 7 days a week. I look forward to it each and every day because I know its drasticly helping my cause and I know its one small step of many to achieving the bigger goal I have.. So I truely have grown to enjoy and appreciate the process.

Its great to hear you had a solid first roll with 1.5mm and got that first roll out of the way..I'm sure next time there will be much less nervousness and your confidence in doing this will continue to grow with each treatment. 🙂

Hi guys ,

I'm from Singapore .I found the links of dermaroller in singapore ebay as : http://cgi.ebay.com.sg/Face-Needle-Roller-1-5mm-Acne-Scars-Wrinkles-hair-loss_W0QQitemZ260478257148QQcmdZViewItemQQptZSkin_Care_test?hash=item3ca5b6c7fc&_trksid=p4634.c0.m14.l1262

The price of the item is very cheap compared to the price of dermaroller that i have seen in this forum .

i wonder what are their differences ?

Thanks guys.

Just an update..Don't want anybody to think I ran off. I will be rolling again in the next couple weeks roughly. I am going to try out a 2.0mm roller I think. I figure why not put it to the test and see if I notice any difference in a treatment with that size. Give me something new post about in the coming months that could possibly be of benefit to us rollers. Keep you guys posted.
