Hey, Im about to buy my first derma roller but cant decide on whether I want a 0.5 that I can use every other day and get some good micro-swelling from...or...should I go for the big guns and get the 1.5? My main question is though, Ive heard you shouldnt use the 1.5 more than 5 or so times.Well how many times can you use the 0.5?If it was the same that would be pretty expensive right? Could anyone give their input? Thanks everyone
thx for the update munsoned. Results are comingim sure, just can't see what's happing under the skin.
keep up the good work.
Thank you..always appreciate the support. 🙂

whats your goals?? they each serve a different purpose..just ask yourself what you are hoping to achieve and you will get your answer..I believe you can use the 0.5mm rollers alot more then 5 times. Never used one but thats my understanding.
update....been a little over a month since I rolled/needled...I just needled again. Not rolled, just needled..I did it over the course of 3-4 days..its to much to do at once and doing it like this helps me keep my focus up so I needle each scar to the best of my ability..And I did just that. I do an area of my skin each day. My focus is to realy hit these deeper scars so they respond.
I will needle and roll in a month from now. that gives me a 2 month break between rolls this time... I need to purchase a new roller anyways..My skin seems to be recovering extra nicely since adding the led's..i am alternating the blue and red each day..one day red, one day blue..I find the lights very relaxing..I nearly fall asleep everyday while using them...I still have to purchase a yellow led soon as I can.
Not much else to add other then I am keeping at it and looking forward to seeing the results my recent needling session produces.. will post back in a month when I do a full session.
Hey munsoned, your attitude is very positive and inspiring. I'm needling and using the LEDs as well. So far there appears to be potential, I see bits of real improvement after only a couple months. As you said it's a long process. Let's keep chugging along towards our goals. Good luck!
Sorry to post this question guys but I just really need to know if the sellers recomendations of being able to use my 0.5 mm roller 15-20 times sounds right?(without getting a new one that is)....thanks just petrified of messing my face up from dull needles!Thanks... anyone who has input I need it...

Hey Jonah, thank you. 🙂 Its all about positivity. "where the mind goes, the body will follow" glad to hear you are seeing positive results. I am sure you will keep improving with each month..simply keep on going and never give up. Keep up the great work my friend.:)

I never used a small roller CR..If it was me I would just take it a session at a time..if you notice it getting dull then throw it out and get a new one..you'll be fine!
What is the purpose of the yellow led again?Blue for preventing breakouts, red for speeding up the healing process, yellow for speeding up the healing process_____????
Thanks
Monsoned how are your results coming along? Thanks for answering some questions in the other thread!! hope your doing well!
The results are coming along nicely thanks. I get improvement each and every treatment..and I got by far my best improvements since adding the leds..I still have a long ways to go, and thats ok. every day is a step closer to reaching the goal. I am about to roll and needle again any day now. Hope things are going well for you to Lamar..thanks as always for all you do. 🙂
munsoned, I'm REALLY happy for you. That you areseeing results from your work. Good luck on your
next roll.
Thank you scoobie do..:)
Completed another session in the Iron Maiden...rolled/needled over the weekend..I used a wide roller this time, no special reasonaits just what I went with. I will be back to the 3 row for my next roller purchase most likely. I did another very thorough needling session before I rolled. I have realy gotten the hang of needling with the pen needles..they allow you to tear these scars a new one!!
I rolled over a two day period..each side of my face on one day and then my forehead on the next..spreading it out makes it a bit easier of an approach I find for me personaly..this way you donat have to go thru as long of a session in one sitting.
I have to purchase more topicals. I have just been using c serum, nothing else right nowa so I need to re up on some c serum.
I will be using the led daily for a week then every other day beyond that..the leds rock!!
So another session is complete..I think this is my 6th?? I donat even know. I am making incremental progress each time I needle and roll. so now just relax during the down time and let nature takes its course..will keep you guys posted on results as they come. 🙂
so what kind of improvment have you seen so far ? any before and after pics ?on a side note i actually learnt to play piano in 6 months lol
Hi. I'm new to this forum, and generally don't like to swoop in on things unless I feel I have real input. In contrast to those who join forums to get help, I'm here now to hopefully offer help.
I want to preface my seriousness by saying that I am only responding to what you have described. What you do is up to you, and if you feel I am off the mark, then by all means continue on. After a certain amount of time self-experimenting you should realize whether or not what you are doing is helping. For other readers with their many questions, I suggest at the very least obtaining direction and answers from a qualified source if not from a face-to-face with a professional. In truth, Derma Rolling is not a serious procedure and can be administered by trained technicians such as you would find in a day spa.
HOWEVER, from medical standpoint, I am a bit disturbed by your accounts of using a DermaRoller purchased from eBay, needling, and such for what has been a significant amount of time and frequency. After 6 months I'm not surprised in the least if your course of action has not helped your skin condition.
I'm not a doctor in the dermatological medicine, but I feel well informed enough after my own research, and from information shared from several other medical professionals, clinical data, and some people who have undergone this procedure, to comment that YOU SHOULD NOT BE BLEEDING OR EXPERIENCING SUCH GREAT PHYSICAL PAIN FROM THIS TREATMENT! Minor "SPOTTING" may be typical, but I am alarmed by your descriptions of "unberable pain" from self-administered and intensifying treatments. This is the point at which consumer products usually warn something similar to "discontinue use immediately and consult your physician."
Derma-rolling is a process that uses small needles using a surgical grade stainless steel. Like acupuncture the process should be similarly non-invasive. The needles create what are dubbed in less bewildering parlance as microchannels or micro needle channels which do not pierce below the dermis level. Just as a chemical peel or laser (surgical) would not cause bleeding in comparison to a a blade that cuts your skin open below the dermis, so called "derma rolling" as an at-home procedure should not cause "bleeding". Compare these to a paper cut and you realize how sensitive your skin can be under the right condition!
The channels which micro needles can create have the potential to stimulate your skin's natural response to what is technically an injury of the skin. This is known as medically as Collagen Induction. These channels seal within hours while the after effects of collagen induction continue below the epidermal layer. Due to the nature of the skin as an organ resilient to the elements, the technology allows for a range of treatments. These extend from the cosmetic, which are similarly safe for consumers with no knowledge of medicine, similarly lacked by the a clear majority who ultimately medicate their egos rather than any specific skin condition with the myriad of topical treatments which ultimately have little permanent effect on skin conditions (because they originate from perturbations below the epidermis), to the clinical or medical, which are to be undertaken by a trained professional.
Other key-words you will find in literature related to this technology for cosmetic use are non-surgical and non-ablative. They also describe what feels like a tingling sensation and little or no pain. Not something that requires the use of medication to treat after-effects such as with a medical procedure.
DO NOT apply such great amounts of pressure on your skin. There is a reason that the models sold for consumer use typically have needles lesser than .5 mm length. Longer than this is reserved for clinical use, where it may be described as a medical procedure.
In conclusion, by using a "Derma Roller" so vigorously and as imprecisely and "inaccurately" as you yourself have described from the very first page of this thread, in addition to the type of products you are using and the negative effects you have described, it seems very likely that you are engaging in use which would concern a medical physician.
I am only being so adamant because I know that a dermatolgist with significantly more professional advice to offer than myself would be equally assertive.
I strongly advise that you desist and seek such qualified council before continuing self-treatment.

Erm.... I have had dermaroller done by the best dermatologist in the UK (Dr Tony Chu) and i have topical anesthetic applied for over an hour (he often has to resort local anesthetic, because many find the pain unbarible). Trust me this procedure is excruciating. I have broken limbs, had the top of one finger snapped off, lost toenails etc etc and dermaroller for me (when done by a PROFESSIONAL) is on par with this....
I also bleed like a bitch every time, if you read reports on people who have had this done by professionals you will realise it is normal to bleed quite considerably. The pain from dermaroller is worse than lasers, i have had lasers done e.g. ND Yag and it doesn't compare.
The dermastamp on the other hand and needles which go in parallel , rather than being rolled over seem to cause less pain. I will be keen to use the dermastamp for instance when the price comes down.
Bare in mind, some dermatologists use vasoconstrictors to prevent bleeding and redness. I personally feel bleeding is required for successfull treatment.
Was wondering if anyone had an opinion on the
"rejuvastamp" that DenD359 started using (vs. rolling).
(thread "Divine Beauty ECIT kit (with 1 mm and 1.5 mm)).
I looked at the video of it (utube??) and
it seems like a good product. Poking straight at your
face. Anyone's thoughts on whether the high price is
worth potentially (?) increased safety.

Scoobie, looks like a very good treatment to me. I think its expensive but I have no doubts it would be effective so for some I can understand paying the high costs. If I was to purchase that kit I would simply add it to my current program. I would use it in some sort of combination with the rolling/needling/led. I feel it would definitely be a positive addition.
Rolled and needled over the past weekend. I roll/needle over the course of several days or I will do a part of my face in the morning and another side of my face at night. But I do the best work when I split things up into 3 different rolling sessions..left cheek, right cheek, fore head. This allows me to keep a strong focus and do the best job possible I have found. Still using the 1.5mm wide roller. I find either the wide or narrow rollers effective. My rolling technique as far as how thorough I am and how quickly I can do a session have come a very long ways since I started which is nice. Not nearly as time consuming..
I have switched up my needles to the tattoo needles forum member Åplumpy suggested. I have some stubborn scars that have not seem to responded so I figured what the heck. Let me throw something new at these specific scars and see what happens..I like they way they hit the scars and I had no issues working with them..I used the 4RL needles. I will be able to keep this log posted on how they work out..I have a feeling they will simply be one more usefull addition to my program.
I am using the led every day the first week after I roll. Starting shortly after I finish rolling. I do a little longer sessions per side of my face since I am part Italian and have dark skin as a result. After the first week I use my led 5 days a week. Then I use my blue led the other 2 days.
I only use a vitamin c serum which I dont even use every day. Some days I use nothing and just let my skin chill out.
Things are moving forward in a positive direction..I achieve improvements with each session..So I will simply keep doing what I have been so I can keep on achieving positive results.
always appreciate your comments here and
on other threads. Positive with other people's
successes. Alot of what we battle (at least me)
is psychological, looking in a mirror and wanting
a smooth face, and seeing some scarring. I'm
also gradually progressing in a positive direction,
and am happy with my results so far. I think
in a year I'll be sitting pretty. A friend
this morning said, "your skin looks the best I've
seen it in 10 years" (she's a friend who would
not b.s. me), which was nice. The change is
just so sloooooww. I've taken a break and
in a few weeks will start systematically rolling
again.
too bad you dont have pics. :/
Sorry Axl, just a written log here..But none the less I am documenting my journey from beginning to end..I know it can still help others without pics..I had no pics to convince me to do this when I started..Its a matter of doing your home work..There is more then enough studies available you can read that prove the effectiveness of everything I am doing..Just read up on it, its available for anybody to read. Then draw your own conclusions..When I started this log there was others doing some very detailed logs but they did not stick around the forum. I think many build up expectations and when they are not met they lose focus. My only expectations coming into this was to never give up... I have a goal and I will stick this out until my goal is reached.

Thank you scoobie but its me who appreciates your support and encouragement:) Yeah bro, what we deal with tests your mental toughness without a doubt. It is adversity. And adversity can be over come if you keep moving forward and are willing to do what it takes. Life is all about having the ability to over come adversity because life is full of it.
Thats great to hear that your skin is improving and looking better then it has in years..Its simply a matter of not giving up, if you keep going with this you will reach the other side..Just a matter of time..Yes, this is a slow process. But nothing worth while comes easy, just the way it is. Keep up the great work!! 😉

It is great to see people cheering one another on.
We are all on a journey to better skin and it's nice to have others cheering us on along the sidelines.
We can all learn and grow from one anothers experiences.....

I completely agree Matt..Thats the beauty of a forum like this..We get to learn from others experiences and also share our own experiences..And I feel positive support makes a very big difference and for some it makes all the difference. Its all about keeping each other moving forward in a positive direction. 🙂
