I have a couple of questions, and I'm sorry if you have already answered them in prior posts.
1. It seems that the silicone is great for the saucer shaped scars, but does it work on ice pick or box scars as well?
2. Will it work well with other procedures,...for instance would it be OK to get a Fraxel pass after the injections?
3. How quick are the results? Does it take several days, weeks, to see the results from the injections?
4. How many scars can be treated in one sitting?
Thank you very much.
This procedure seems to be really helping people, and I hope it can do the same for me. Now, I have to try and see if anyone can do this procedure around the San Francisco Bay Area.
i'm gonna make an appt to fly in and see dr lam. just gotta get my summer class schedule figured out.
you don't suppose he'd actually have a consultation and give me some injections on the same day, or within a few dayz of the consultation, do you?
flying in to tx just for a meeting, just to leave and go back again, that's a lotta cash! i suppose i can ask over the phone...
i'm worried he'll tell me that i've got too dam many for silicone.
ya, my scarz look really frickin bad when the sunlight hitz my face at an angle, from behind, like if i'm walkin away from the sun, and say if i turned my face slightly into it. it'd be like DAM. which sucks, cuz i like walkin away from the sun cuz then it's like i'm in the shade. but if my face turns just slightly into it, i'm exposed. can't catch a break...

Dr. Lam doesn't know what he's talking talking about. According to the video he says the purpose of dermabrasion and lasers is too sand down the normal level of skin to the abnormal level, which is untrue. The purpose of lasers and dermabrasion is to stimulate the pitted areas (abnormal level) so it'll fill with collagen and be leveled with the normal level. Not vice versa. Watch out for this guy.
i'm worried about one thing: i got scarz all frickin over. if i get silicone, i wonder if i'd be able to do stuff like dermarolling afterward. what if i like stabbed the silicone and it got all bumpy or somethin. if silicone means i can't do any more dermarolling (i've given up on other optionz like dermabrasion, etc), i might just do some dermarolling to hopefully give me a generally smoother texture, THEN do siliconez at the end, for those deep little bastardz.
well, i just gotta make that appt and ask my questionz! no need to worry til i know what the process is like
I think it's good the silicone microdroplet is still being discussed but don't think you will have major improvements from a few sessions like some here. I had two sessions with Dr. Alkek in Dallas and didn't notice a great result. My scars are mainly saucer shaped, I have three that really get me. I had tiny one's injected too but didn't notice major improvement in those either. I figure I just didn't get enough injected, but after reading the risks and seeing the small improvement from two sessions I didn't want more. I live close to Dr. Lam too, so maybe I should have gone to him, but really I feel no matter what I do these scars will be with me and I have to accept it. I have accepted it but I am not disfigured from it so it is probably a little easier for me than others. I'd like to see more pics on here for those that get the results they want!

drewboy,
Thanks so much for sharing this information. I've had Radiesse injected three times and it works great for a while but eventually disipates. I'm really hoping Silicone Micro can be a permanent solution.
I will keep you posted when I finally see Dr. Lam and will say "Drew sent me!"
Thanks again,
Tomster

Tricia,
Im wondering why some people like myself and Dan and a few others have responded so well and others are seeing slight results. My 3rd treatment was the one that really did it for me and I was thinking "Oh yeah Im getting close to where I want to be".
I do know Dr. Lam was much more aggressive with my scarring then Dr. Alkek and he injected the scar in linear patterns starting from the bottom and working his way up. Perhaps give it 1 more try and see how it works out for you.
I also know Dr. Lam is using the 500$ per bottle of silicone quality, not sure if Dr. Alkek is using the same, but that may make a difference as well.

Well, drew, you saw my pics, and you know I had 8 rounds of silicone with a doc in CO, and you can still see how shitty my skin looks. And DO NOT show those pics to anyone else or I will have to have you put into exile
I don't know why I didn't respond well, I have so much tissue loss that I am thinking about fat grafting next but a doctor I am consulting with has been researching having it done over silicone, which may not be a go
Silicone was my worst nightmare because it limited my treatment options. My only real hope is that Dr Lam does much more silicone per round, and maybe that is what my problem was, I don't know, but like Tricia, I do feel like I will die with all these scars

Ylem, Im happy to report that your scarring was very minor, I mean I would kill to have your skin texture. I know we are our own worse critic but you have absolutely nothing to stress over.
Anyhow its no problem on forwarding your pics on over to Dr. Lam, did you get his response back? Im hoping a more aggressive injection session will help eliminate your scarring.
So where are your after pics?

tomster - I also had an injection of Restalyne in my cheek areas to see how a filler would do and the results looked good but lasted about 3 or 4 weeks. As far as I am concerned, the temporary fillers that are offered for scars are basically expensive and worthless.
The silicone has stayed and I started my first treatments in June of 06. None of the filler has moved around and I am very active and work out quite a bit. I was cocerned about the silicone micro dissappating like the Restalyne or moving around after the fill took place but none of that has happened.
