"Basic research has been described as arising out of curiosity.[2] Basic research is contrasted with applied research, which is research focused on a particular problem or application. Basic research lays the foundation for advancements in knowledge that lead to applied gains later on, occasionally as a result of unexpected discoveries."
I'd say the Florida Uni's research is focused on a very particular problem?
By the way what they're saying here:
Dr. Madens research may unlock the molecular secrets that stimulate tissue regeneration in mammals using the unique mouse model,
Is a pretty bold statement and I'd say that they're overestimating themselves or at least underestimating the difficulty of achieving this as it's not like people haven't been trying to figure that one out for centuries.
I also think it's rather odd how they seem to say that it's safe to say that mammals and amphibians have the same mechanisms when it comes to regeneration yet at the same time they say that this new research will uncover things that aren't able to be uncovered by studying amphibians.
This...
"there has never been a way to study naturally occurring tissue regeneration in a mammalian species"
...seems to say that no one has ever had a chance to study the African spiny mouse which I think is a dubious claim.
i'm really hope that they could reach for something that can help us , i'm so tired from fighting scars for 9 years till now
im on the same boat your not alone.
The latest news according to the gemstone Facebook site is there will be a site up soon...
Hydrogel news?
Gemstone also said this:
"Gemstone expects to be hiring later this summer. Will be looking for Chemical, Material and Biomolecular engineering talent at various levels."
I think that's a good sign. I mean if the hydrogel didn't do what they hoped it would do then I'm guessing they wouldn't have expected to be hiring any time soon.

how long you think before hydrogel comes out? when hydrogel is available do you think it will be effective on all types of scars like ice pick n box car?
Hi!
It's impossible for me to answer your question as I know as much as anyone else here. But if I had to guess then I'd say that it would be able to mean something of value for people with any type of scar. But that's just judging by what they said about its efficacy being unprecedented.

What's too good to be real? Scarless healing itself? I work in a hospital and even there they are certain it will be a reality at some point. So it's not too good to be true, it's really going to happen.
The hydrogel I think will be an improvement over existing treatments though. But we'll see.
To good for be real.

Mmmm...and in your opinion who is the next champion of the fifa world cup?
Brazil or Italy!
I've just turned 15, will this kind of treatment be available when I'm in my early 20's? Looks very promising.
I heard one doctor say that people your age will perhaps have access to scarless healing when they are in their fourties. It might be sooner than that but in seven or eight years time doesn't seem likely to me.
Brazil or Italy!
so how is the treatment coming along then? it seems like one of those suppossed reveloutions like Recell but delivers on so little
It's being worked on globally by heaps of scientists. Here's a video which might be interesting to you:
The hydrogel we keep talking about will arrive in maybe little over a year? But like I said I think it will just mean an improvement over existing treatments but that of course (should it come to fruition) could mean a lot for some.

Wildono, the tested treatment, beat the control, a control that behaves typically and as expected in all tissues. It completely regenerated a full thickness 3rd degree burn, the control behaved typically. Scientifically with a testable method, it got scar free healing. This treatment, for complete regeneration, will be here in maybe 12months going on what has been cited. These cites are from trusted sources.
Maldition returns.
Not for long I hope.

In this video Ashley (who's very attractive, I must say haha) shares with us that she has achieved scarless healing in an animal model about ten years ago.
Maybe the hydrogel's achievement isn't unprecedented then?
Lapis, the term scarless' is ambiguous. It can also be used for percentage improvement of scars. The video is not scientific, it is a promotional video, by someone using authority. I can and anyone else can pull up loads of promotional videos using authority. But I dont point to authority. This woman has not pointed to specific scientific papers in this video. However ironically researching her leads me to her cv, if you look at her cv, in 2002 she investigated some known injection (injections are apples; apples and oranges...) for scarless healing http://www.restoraaustin.com/about_gordon_CV.html Please ctrl + f '2002' and you will see what she researched has never got regeneration without scar on any tissue; only improvement.

lapis she found out about this in 2002 if she truely found the answer it would have been realised ages ago.
I found this on her CV:
Edelman BR, Gordon AD, Radu A, Lim F, and Crombleholme TM. Elevated Baseline Expression of Transforming Growth Factor Beta-3 Relative to Transforming Growth Factor Beta-1 Correlates With a Period of Scarless Wound Repair in Gestational Mice. Journal of Surgical Research 100 (1): 275, 2001.
Wasn't Renovo/Juvista also fiddling around with these growth factors?

I'm starting to get a bit tired of this whole Hydrogel thing. Why no updates? When is the last time we had some proper info about this?
