Awesome news CarpeMomentum!!!! My doctor wouldn't up my dose since he seems to think my skin is looking great at the 50 dose. Im not so sure, even tho im clear right now I always test how well the Spiro is coming along when I get close to my period, that's when I usually break out like crazy, I must say I only got one cyst this past menstrual cycle compared to the 3 or 4 I would normally get so that is progress :) Im happy to hear your doing well and praying we all keep on the road to clear skin !!!!

Maria, what dose of the Spiro are you taking now?

10 days of 100 mg. Excluding a clogged pore that turned into a pustule, i had no actual break out. Just 2-3 small red patches that disappear later. I am in the middle of my cycle but i havesome bleeding.

I forgot b.p. for a few days and my forehead feels quite bumpy. There are a couple of red spots and a small papule on my cheeks/chin. I believe that i have to accept at this point that my skin is most likely never going to respond the way it did before, something changed.. i am thinking about adding progesterone cream but i am also afraid of messing up my hormones again.. what is worse than a small papule is a huge papule or nodule.

There is a chance of improvement!! While traveling, they offered us free breakfast. It was two pieces of cheesepie. I was afraid but didn't want to be rude. I ate one of them and didn't break out! Then the ice cream and the salad that i forgot to mention that i wanted without cheese (though i removed as much as i could). I don't know, perhaps the amount of dairy was small anyway.. but cheese? Ice cream? I was afraid i would never be able to eat these things again without big papules or nodules afterwards!

Staying away from dairy is such a pain. I find it hard everyday. Happy it worked out ok for you though.

Well it's perhaps early to be sure about that, i mean i used to drink 2 glasses of milk, eat a yogurt and the occasional cheese and still look fine. Now i am still afraid even of thinking it. I 've read you are on accutane now, i hope it's going to work for you without the side effects!

Now, that was the begining of my break outs, without spiro. New acne but no hyperpigmentation.. everything faded after 1,5 years of spiro. Now i don't have acne (at least when i am careful) but i have this annoying hyperpigmentation.

Hyperpigmentation sucks! That was actually a bigger problem for me than the actual acne at one point. But I'm grateful I don't scar.

Your skin looks pretty good by the way. Congrats :)

The accutane is already giving me side effects but nothing I can't handle.

i used to have... There is hyperpigmentation mainly on my cheeks and many months will pass for them to fade and i acquired 3-4 new big marks last month. Anyway, if we stop breaking out it will happen eventually. :)

I think it's turning into an obsession.. you know, there are times when we worry about our break outs, marks, scars but our friends/relatives claim they see nothing and we are like "how could they miss that?". Well, if someone told me that he/she couldn't see that really tiny pustule on my nose i would totally believe it but even knowing that noone else is able to see it, i couldn't contain myself to not squeeze it.

I made my nose a mess, naturally. I ate a big slice of cheese without breaking out and the next day an ice cream that is responsible for the small pustule on my chin. I would be happier if that pustule wasn't there but it is an improvement, normally i would have a huge papule/nodule.

I keep trying different types of dairy (cheese and ice cream yesterday) and so far it looks good.

Irrelevant question: is it just me or do others also think that it's impolite when you reply to a topic (actually you are the only one who bothered) and the op doesn't even respond?

Haha... Yes that's annoying.

I have a friend who was on accutane and eats cheese and ice cream now... I wanna be just like her. My mom bought a ton of yoghurt today and I remembered to check in on you. Hope the spiro keeps working. How long are you going to stay on it?

It's great, now i can combine even 3 different dairy products (cheese, yogurt, ice cream).

I don't know for how long. The one thing i think about is pregnancy but i don't plan one anytime soon. I know that if i quit, it will start all over again and that's something i am not looking forward to. I have read about women who are on it for more than a decade but it doesn't mean that i don't feel some fear or doubt. I don't know..

You will be able to eat ice cream soon! Think that, unlike me, after accutane you are not going to need drugs any more! I even think about a course of accutane if my acne keeps coming back after coming off spiro.

the last one vanished less than 24 hours later, fortunately. In the meantime i tried taking spiro at night because it suits me better but.. well it started before that change as 2-3 small pustules but now they seem to be the limits of these mosquito-bite-like headless things.

Hi Maria,

Its so funny I found your log earlier today and read the whole thing! I just started spiro a month ago and have the worst skin I've ever had. I was looking for inspiration and came across your log.

I noticed that you hadn't been on in awhile and I was dying to know how you were doing! It is so great to see how wonderful you skin looks, I'm so happy for you! Your experience is giving me hope, and I really need it.

Congrats, you look fantastic!
