im hoping this link will help you guys.

I read those a few months ago....

I find with drug reviews they're never helpful, first because there always seems to be an even amount of positive and negative reviews..one girl can be saying this is the best med shes ever been on, and it's been 12 years since she first started, and another will say it ruined her life completely...also I can never relate to those reviews, I never get nausea, I never gain weight, I don't get depressed...people who generally write reviews have something negative to say..for example I was on Yasmin with 0 problems yet that drug has a lot of bad reviews....

we just need to be optimistic that there will be no problems and everything will work out in the end.

glad to be of some help. yeah i agree. most people won't write positive on medications. I figure they're happy with their lives and that the medications working. I think people only write good reviews on websites like YELP or something.

Questions for you ladies...

Was your skin/hair really oily prior to starting the birth control or did you just break out in general? and if you were oily, did the BC help lessen it?

nothing on my face is really bothering me except for the nodules on my jawline. I've never had this type of acne before (that I can remember), but they are persistent and last for weeks maybe months, and they hurt, and are weird in texture and hard and lumpy and they dont form heads.. Nodular acne..what the hell...it is annoying.

God, they're the worst. I think they're worst than cysts huh.png at least with cysts, you can tell when its starting to die down, with the nodules, it stays there forever and starts to go away when you least expect it.

my skin and hair are very oily in general, without birth control pills, it is very very uncontrollable oil. One of the pill's main things is reducing sebum production which is why we're all on it...less sebum = less clogged pores = less acne.

the pill has been reducing my oiliness since month 1, now the only battle is to get rid of the acne.

Okay well I started getting acne when I graduated hs in 09. And then in about Nov of 2010 I got a prescription for spiro and tetracycline. I stopped taking them because I was so emotional! At night when I would take the tetracycline I was like the exorcist! Plus my mom is holistic and she asked me to stop taking them

ah ok, someone said they don't prescribe Tetracycline anymore..

Random bit of info about the pill

"The researchers found that the protection against ovarian cancer lasted for more than 30 years after women had stopped taking the Pill. They also found that the longer the Pill was used the greater the protection and that taking the Pill for 15 years halved the risk of ovarian cancer.

Researchers estimated that, in high income countries, using oral contraceptives for ten years reduces the risk of developing ovarian cancer before the age of 75 from 12 down to 8 per 1000 women, and reduces the risk of death from ovarian cancer before age 75 from 7 down to 5 per 1000 women.

The new report brings together worldwide evidence from 45 epidemiological studies of ovarian cancer in 21 countries. These include 23,257 women with ovarian cancer of whom 7,308 (31 per cent) had used oral contraceptives and 87,303 women without ovarian cancer of whom 32,717 (37 per cent) had used oral contraceptives.

Lead author Professor Valerie Beral, director of the Cancer Research UK Epidemiology Unit at Oxford University, said: Worldwide, the Pill has already prevented 200,000 women from developing cancer of the ovary and has prevented 100,000 deaths from the disease. More than 100 million women are now taking the Pill, so the number of ovarian cancers prevented will rise over the next few decades to about 30,000 per year.

The Pill also causes long-lasting protection against endometrial cancer (cancer or the lining of the womb) but causes a short-lived increase in breast cancer and in cervical cancer (cancer of the neck of the womb). Co-author Sir Richard Peto, Professor of Epidemiology at Oxford University, said: Young women dont have to worry about cancer from taking the Pill because the eventual reduction in ovarian cancer is bigger than any increase in other types of cancer caused by the Pill."

But you skipped your placebo pills right? You don't even have to take them, they're just reminder pills to make sure you don't forget after not taking them for a week. I start a new pack this sunday

well it depends if youre using it for what it's intended for or not, birth control. it would make a difference in that case, but since I'm only using it for acne, I always skip days.

no, i took my placebos, finished the last one 2 days ago ~ i'll start Pack 4 on Friday.

lol you guys don't understand me~

I'm not skipping pills (well not with Tri Sprintec, with Yasmin/Ortho Novum I was so damn lazy I skipped pills every week), I didn't get my pack in time, so I started Pack 4 2 days later. Also there's no such thing as results not being up to where they should be, every individual is different. Some will take 2 months to get clear, some will take the full six months...I'm hoping Pack 4 is my turn!

And I was going to say, my skin is looking really great, I woke up this morning, I didn't even wear makeup! Today was so nice in California, 80 degrees, I went on a hike for 2 hours with my dogs...It felt so good..Exercise + Vitamin D, all anxieties wash away.. The Clarisonic is AMAZING! Mostly, I am really happy about what it's doing for the severe scars on my face...The hypertrophic scars on my nose, SIX years old, are flattening SO fast after i bought this device, and my chin......my chin is almost clear, which is remarkable since that is the area where usually I get cysts the worst.

EDITED

I actually think if anything, that 2 day break between Pack 3 and 4 helped clear up my skin a bit, gave it a little break from the hormones.

Just to note, I've been eating really healthy since the end of the holidays a few weeks ago, no fast food, no fried food, limit on the junk food, I only have 1 or 2 cans of soda a month, and my exercise routine is 20 minutes per day on the weekday, up to 1 to 2 hours on the weekend...

My regimen as of Month 4

Morning

Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser

Duac Gel

Night

Philosophy Purity w/ Clarisonic

Tazorac

Eucerin Moisturizer

+Tri sprintec BCP

Vitamins and Supplements=

Morning~ Multi Vitamin + Fish Oil (Omegas) 1000 mg

Night~ Vitamin C 1000 mg

Bad News~ I can tell the hormones are kicking in at last, because the eczema is slowly returning to my fingers.......that's one of the only bad side effects I get with these pills.....rashes on my hand..=(

Great improvement. Things are definitely looking up. Whats your ethnicity if i may ask? I was wondering if you noticed any real scarring. I know if my initial breakout is like yours, I'll for sure get severe scarring left over. Your skin look so nice underneath and even now. Your forehead looks great. Your last pic reminds me of Angelina Jolie wink.png

THANKS!

I'm mixed with everything under the sun Daria lol...

Hmmm...well, I'm not going to lie, if you look at the pictures from Month 2 and Month 3, those were severe cystic bumps I had, so I do notice a few small icepicks (cry.gif!!!! )...I scar around my mouth, but those never leave permanent scars thank GOD! I've been looking over my photos, and yea they say "it gets worse before it gets better" on the pill, but wow I didn't know it would get that bad. (I'm glad my photo log has been helpful for someonesurprised.gif ) My ultimate goal is to not have to wear foundation, because it covers up all my freckles and I just hate having to wear that mask!

I'll take better pictures in more natural lighting, so you can see...But yea like Katrina said a few months ago, you just have this feeling that you know you're clear. It's in your head and body, and I feel after Month 3's painful period, all the toxins were released from my body......My face looks almost next to clear minus the superficial scarring around my mouth...doesn't hurt that the weather has been really great lately.....That with the combination of the clarisonic...it feels good..

Mixed with everything as in asian as well? Cuz I see a hint of asian glow?? LOL

God you're so lucky you don't scar easily. Shit, if i didn't scar easily, I would have went on the birth control a long time ago or even accutane but I just can't bear the initial breakout with the skin texture and quality I have

Sorry about the scarring thing...I think my skin is so used to pimples from the age of 10, that it has really thickened over time, the scars don't last too long on my face...

Ok guys I have taken down all my pictures because I think I'm finished with this log and I HATE looking at my skin in those pics from before...I just *cringe*

Month 4= definitely when the hormones started kicking in.

The oil on my skin is almost non existent, my ECZEMA is back on my hands, and I have not had a serious break out in 2 weeks on my face.

So if any of you have questions please message me, but other than that, think I'm done with this site, until I decide I don't want to take birth control pills anymore (very far future lol) and I'll have to deal with acne another way....
