Here are pictures taken today in natural light. You can see the daily redness I get. When I'm not in a heated (temperature) setting, my skin looks fine but if it gets hot, it will be red. I am verysensitive to heat. I'm always cold or feeling like I'm having a hot flash. I think it has to do with
Some red marks aren't really scars. They are just healing marks. I also did a peel recently so there are some irritation from that. You can see the cyst I was talking about before. It ended up popping.
The lovely before pictures are on the front page.
I got the 55 niacinamide gel in the mail today. I was surprised it came in a metal bottle. I'll be starting it today but only in a small spot. I'd hate to have a huge eruption because of it.
I thought I would add this for anyone who is weight lifting or doing heavy work outs.

Do you realize that the reason teenagers break out is because of testosterone? I wasn't connecting it to fake hormones. I was connecting it to what Dr. Perricone said in his book for a weight lifting, football playing teenager.
Here is the page. It's "Matt's story".
"I explained to Matt that lifting weights can increase the circluating levels of the male hormones testosterone because that is the body's natural way of increasing muscle mass and repairing muscle. This testosterone can also make acne worse- but fortunately there are ways to control it. "
http://books.google.com/books?id=u4Xnq3GZf...;q=&f=false
"About 90% of all teenagers develop acne at or about the time of puberty when hormonal levels change. Teenage acne is directly tied to Testosterone - one of the key hormones that is involved in adolescent puberty in both sexes. The imbalance of Testosterone levels in adolescence results in high levels of DHT production that in turn leads to excessive oil production within the skin and leads to teenage acne."
" * Change in Hormones. Puberty, stress, menstrual periods, birth control pills, and yes weight lifting can increase the production of skin oil."
from: http://stronglifts.com/how-to-get-rid-of-acne-forever/
"Testosterone is an androgen hormone, and it is strongly linked to acne development. It's most often thought of as a male hormone, but women produce testosterone too, although in lesser amounts.
Testosterone, through a complicated chain reaction, creates di-hydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT stimulates the sebaceous glands, creating an oilier skin that is more prone to pore blockages and, ultimately, pimples. Milk naturally is filled with hormones, including DHT. It's possible that milk contains enough hormones to have an effect on the body, including the skin. People who are genetically predisposed to acne breakouts may have a stronger reaction to the hormones in milk, according to some researchers."

Okay, I started taking B5 today (3 grams). I really don't want to be mega dosing with 15 grams. The main problem with my skin is that it gets very oily. I'll leave the house and then when I go back in the car after shopping, I'll see my reflection in the mirror and see a shiny face. It surprises me at how oily my face is. That's why it is so hard for me to use lotions or oils on my face. The ones that say they help with oily skin have silicones and those always break me out.
I normally skip my period with birth control and that helps control break outs but this month I didn't so I am breaking out more than usual right now.
http://www.clearskin.net/viewtopic.php?t=1907 This site has tons of information on B5.
This is random babbling, but I was thinking about powder and pill forms of B5. I don't know if I am planning on taking 10 grams, but if you or I stick with 5 gram, you'd just double the results. I did this with a hazy brain, so if something is wrong, bear with me.
I currently have NSI Vitamin B5 in a form of 200 pills, each 500 mg.
Price
Powder: $11.44
NSI Pills: $15
Servings per bottle (Listed on bottle)
Powder: 70 (1/2 teaspoon = 1.42 grams, 1,300 mg)
NSI Pills: 67 (500 mg * 3 pills = 1,500 mg)
Amount for 10 grams
Powder: 3.5 teaspoons
NSI Pills: 20 pills
Grams per bottle
Powder: 99.4 grams
NSI Pills: 100 grams
Days it would last at 10 grams
Powder: 20
NSI Pills: 10
Cost per month or so
Powder: $22.88 (2 bottles)
NSI Pills: $45 (3 bottles)

Hey there!
I was keen to know more about how to manage breakouts from weightlifting. I've kinda put it on halt until im not sure when...but the URL you posted here is broken. I was just keen to know more cause, although i'm not a teenager anymore I still breakout out kinda badly after an intense session working out my upper body muscles which sucks.
I was wondering how to overcome this, i've noticed 75mgs of zinc at the first sign of a breakout from weightlifting will do some good but are there other things I could do?
Thanks!

Oh, are you talking about the Dr. Perricone link? Here is an excerpt of that here http://books.google.com/books?q=dr.+perric...nG=Search+Books . It is the Clear Prescription book. I reread it and saw that Matt was taking steroids (yikes) but since you're still getting breakouts, I would say there is still a connection. Don't they say that masturbation is the same with testosterone, like doing it raises it? I don't really remember or made knowing that a priority.. lol. Oh and another reason that weight lifting would be a connection is because I read that exercise is stress on the body (even for a short period of time) and raises hormones. Stress is known to cause breakouts. Here is another link:

Well, the reason they connect breakouts and weight lifting is from hormones and those are the hardest things to control. I am not sure how much a work out can create too much testosterone. Dr. Perricone suggests Yoga, which I don't even do. I take 200 mg of zinc actually, so that's good you work at 75 mg. I have stopped taking zinc for a couple days. To me, there isn't much you can do other than cutting down your work outs. It depends which is more of a priority too you, to be honest.
Maybe you can search a weight lifting forum and see if they get it too? You can always do a test by working out less for 2 weeks or and see if the break outs decrease.
I get an inflamed SOB after I go hard at the gym.200mgs zinc? Wow how long were you taking that and what were you're results?
I don't know what inflamed SOB means. Shortness of breath? I have zinc pills in 50 mg so it was easy. I think it helped me to stop making my pimples so cystic all the time and may have helped my red marks. I have been taking it for long that I don't know, like a year.

lol, SOB just meant son of a bitch

Oh ok. The only thing I can think of is cutting it down like I read you're doing. I'm sure you'll have muscles still intact 5 years from now anyways :). If you're using protein powder or typical work out foods, you may want to check those too if it is adding to the break outs.
I didn't feel like any oil was changing in my face so I'm going up to 4 grams. I am not breaking out right now either which is nice. I feel like the red marks are fading too. Maybe it's just because there isn't inflammation due to acne on my face.
No break outs from the B3 gel. I find it interesting that I haven't broken out after my period ended. I haven't taken my birth control. I wonder if I start taking it again, I'll break out. Hm, I have stopped the zinc for awhile too yet no pimples.
This is how many vitamins I was taking back in 2008, wow.
vitamin a,c,e,d
chromium
zinc
gse
ginger root
turmeric
flaxseed oil
fiber choice pills with added vitamins
alpha lipoic acid
magnesium
calcium
I did a full peel last night. I felt like I needed it. I thought it was longer, but I have only been on B5 for 1 week! I shouldn't be so critical of it. I bumped it up to 5 or 6, I forget. I do have a break out on my chin, diagonal of my mouth that always seems to happen. I'm starting my pack of birth control now.
When I run out of my B5 pills, I am so going to try powder. I'd rather save money than spend $45 on pills for month. That is how much it would cost for taking 10 grams, which I don't do yet and haven't bought $45 worth in pills. It would only take 3.5 teaspoons in powder form instead of 20 pills.
I still haven't touched makeup. I stopped in August. I have the Every Day Minerals sample still near my mirror. I just don't care. The only thing I really care about concealing are my under eye bags but that would look silly having them covered but nothing else.
I broke down and popped all my pimples I got in the last couple of days. I think it was 5 pimples that popped up but only popped 3 of them. They take forever to pop. I have to drain them constantly or they'll flair up again. I'd rather having healing pimples than ones that stick around with its yellow head for a week.
I used kaolin powder paste on the pimples. It REALLY dries them out. I think that was the reason an underground pimple stopped forming. I would not suggest using a kaolin power mask on your entire face other than spot treating. It is that strong.
Everything I take : 6 grams b5, B3 gel, lactic acid peels, Orthotricyclen lo, Zinc 100 mg.
That's it.
Arghhh. I have this inflamed sore on my face. I don't think it is even a pimple because it has no head, isn't painful to the touch. I don't think it's a cystic pimple either. Those come to head and have a huge head. This one doesn't even have puss inside. I think the next time I go to the store, I am going to get a cortisone cream for those. You shouldn't use that for all your skin problems because it can have bad side effects.
Gahh, I have three cystic pimples on my face. They are really just forming right now and one of them died down. One on both sides of my face and one on the jawline. I am dousing them with sea salt paste. I forgot about sea salt. Knowing me, I'll probably burn my skin from it.
Maybe it is from the chemical peels, idk but cystic is normally an internal problem. Oh well.
Oh great, I wonder if I am breaking out from the B5...
I bought the cortisone cream, clover honey and apple cider vinegar. I have tried raw honey and apple cider before, but never stuck to it. I have never tried clover honey for a mask.
I have read that acv can help red marks, while on the other hand, i read it can create free radicals on the skin and make the red marks worse. The acv is probably the last resort for me, especially drinking. I don't like how it can ruin your enamel on your teeth. I do drink through a straw.
i have a date in the upcoming days so i am trying ever drastic measure to stop these cystic pimples that popped up out of no where!
Wow, one day with the cream and those cystic pimples are like 80% died down. That is amazing. I do always use BP, but one of the bad things I don't like about it is that it creates inflammation on the pimple and makes it angry.
I had like 3 more pimples crop up all in the same area (but gone now phew). They are that section near the bottom of my mouth on the side of my chin. I always break out there and that's a hormonal spot.
I am going to start doing honey and nutmeg masks. I used to do them, but just stopped. Nutmeg is known to lighten red marks, so maybe it'll work for me again. I stopped the b3 gel. I'm sure I'll come back to it later.
Those cystic pimples I had went away. Phew. I bet if I put nothing on them, I'd still be dealing with them.
I have noticed that when I don't drink enough water, my skin is drier. I wasn't drinking enough for the last couple of days. I didn't change my soap or anything either and it got drier after I washed my face. So, water has a connection for all you people out there.
I wonder if it's a good thing because I had to exfoliate a lot more. I use a wet cottonball and drag it over my skin to take the dead skin off, by the way. I don't like using scrubs or brushes.
Thought i'd pop in and ask hows it going?I read in your intro that you took accutane,? How did it go im really curious.
Yeah, I took it when I was 14 or 15. I was sort of clear from it, but it came back like a year later, maybe when I was 16. It didn't last long at all and isn't a cure all. It came back even worse than before. The majority of my sisters went on Accutane too and it came back. My sister in her mid 20's and wants to go back on it but I think she's overreacting since she only gets PMS zits.
After that big blow up, a week ago I think, my skin is doing fine. I did a peel last night. I also bought a higher lactic peel at 70% on Amazon. Hopefully I can tolerate that!
Oh and I don't think I am going to back to b5. I don't care enough to keep taking those pills. For all I know, it was reason for that huge breakout.
My new year's resolution is to try my best to keep up my diet, learning and expanding it. I really only have a couple staple food items since I am the type that likes eating the same thing. Brown rice was the biggest one. I can eat it in flour or natural form, it doesn't matter. It is a great flour to work with if you want breads. I'm not talking literal fluffy bread. I'm talking more like pita consistency. You can use it to make cookies (more like scones) or pancakes.
Another resolution is to try and fade my red marks even more. I hope the lactic peel 70% does the job. I am liking the honey and nutmeg masks again.
Oh and I have still been getting these mysterious pimples!! They aren't even real pimples, I suppose. They DON'T have puss in them. They aren't painful to the touch. They have no head. You'd think it was a cystic pimple for that reason, but it's not huge. It's the size of a normal pimple and not small enough to be like some weird rash. I think it is from my toothpaste. Because the fluoride free toothpastes would never whiten my teeth, I went back to the "normal" tooth paste. It is hard for my teeth to work with whitening strips, baking soda, things like that. That was the reason I went back. If the F-free toothpaste said it whitened, it didn't. Fluoride is known to give people zits but idk what this is! It has been happening to me this month and maybe in November too.
