My complexion is still not all that great because I keep taking off the dead skin after about only 5 days at a time. It has been nearly a year. Skin health is 300% better but not where I want it yet. Gotta keep doing this. Mind you... I hardly have acne as a main problem anymore. My main problem is getting my skin to look very healthy again.

My cheeks are still liney a bit. Much less noticeable but still kind of liney. I want that to go away.

My nose seems to be fine. No lines so much. The bridge of my nose still needs more time although the lines are only noticeable when you go real up close. I still want em gone. I want completely healthy skin.

The space between my eyes is a 1000% better, but it still needs more time. I want it to be so smooth there you don't even see the finest of lines.

UGH I can't wait until this process is over.'

For anyone who has dehydrated or overwashed skin... try this regimen.

I must warn you it is not for the impatient or faint of heart.

Do green smoothies, omega 3s, and one a day. <3

It's been a year.

Yea man I'll for sure try and keep this updated and any time there is a noticable change I'll let you guys know. And no it's cool I'm 17. My "acne" is not hormonal I'm 100% positive of this. I have had clear skin my whole entire life with the exception of course to the random zits that everyone gets. But yea I thought that these pimples would turn into crazy severe acne if I didn't do something soon and that's when I started using this SA wash from neutrogena and I used that stuff twice a day sometimes 3 times and did this for about a month and that's when I noticed that I was getting these little bumps and as I used this product the bumps got worse and spread to other parts of my face over time and I thought I wasn't washing good enough and then by the time I found out all these problems with my skin it was too late and the damage was done. Anyways I also know the damage is from the wash because the worst spots on my face are the spots where I washed and scrubbed the most including my forehead, nose an cheek areas. And the places I didn't wash as much are clear including the sides of my forehead (my temples?) my chin and my mustache area. And all this time I wouldve never thought that washing my face would give me skin problems, but I guess I learned my lesson the hard way.

same thing happened to me but i realized my face was getting red a few days after i used the soap and continued using it and other washes/ topicals for a year and a half. i thought the redness was acne so i kept using the stuff thinking it would help, i only contributed to the problem. i get a few pimples along my temples but im 16 and that time of the month kinda does that.

Yea it really pisses me off thinking back to the times when I had clear skin and how I took it for granted and then completely ruined it.

i really believe in this, but instead of not washing your face (which is insane- imagine the yeast build up from everyday pollutants) try taking a wet wash cloth and rubbing your skin clean. I went 30 days with no water on my face and let me tell you, it was the biggest mistake ive ever made, except it cleared up my redmarks rediculously fast

Yea from not washing all I really noticed was tons of dead skin build up and not that much improvment. And yea no problem it says on it "Oil Free Acne Wash Daily Scrub" and it says Micro-Clear Technology too and it says "stop breakouts with gentle scrub before they start" and it's 2% SA. If you really want I can get a picture for you off the internet just let me know. But yea I wouldn't say I have acne just skin looks VERY damaged and sunburnt. Very irritated, including dead skin mask and redness.

The one I have says "Micro-Clear Technology" in the middle but other than that I'm pretty sure these are the same they look identical.

Yea it's pretty rough on your skin. But yea I know what you mean like my only motivation is that since that SA wash caused it and now that I stopped using it I should be clear eventually. Even if it takes awhile I know that at least I will be clear in the future how ever long it takes.

Exactly. We found the cause and now were doing what we have to do to fix our skin. I say in the next month or two our skin is gonna look a lot better than it does right now.

Yes. So this means that we should have clear skin EVENTUALLY even if it does take months of doing nothing and letting our skin heal.

Hey everybody!

Quick story... So I know I said I quit this regimen on Day 45... and its true... i washed with a cleanser twice. Then I came to my senses, and I had this realization...

If I dont follow through with this regimen and give it my all... then ill probably be back here next summer... giving the caveman regimen a 3rd try.

Now heres where I'm at... if I just pick up where I left off (theres no way I'm resetting the day counter after a couple slip ups)

Day 86

Yea, I wash my face frequently now. Every 3 days for sure... Sometimes even every other day.

I cup my hands, take cool water and splash it on all different parts of my face. I probably splash it on 10 times, then i gently run my hands over my face... and I'm done.

Doing this keeps the deadskin from building up so fast....

However!!! I've already scraped the dead skin off 3 times, and it continues to come back. So I guess my skin isn't fully healed. But my skin does feel healthier, thats for sure. It also looks better; take a look!

post-115950-1264389915_thumb.jpg - Day 7ish

post-115950-1264389923_thumb.jpg - Day 86ish

A few more things real quick...

I've ordered a facial cleanser. It has a low pH of 4.5 to maintain the skin's acid mantle. I will be using this once every 3 days instead of just water.

Facial Cleanser

Sorry I wont be available to answer questions about my success... I don't let myself visit acne.org very often... Its not good for the mind; it conditions your brain to focus on your acne more...

I'll check in every few weeks and see whats shakin tho..

later all

Hey Cavemanfan I know you don't wanna answer questions and won't check back that much, but if you do I would love to know how that soap is at removing the dead skin. I read the description and am really impressed with how great of a product it sounds and I just bought a new thing of Aloe Vera today and don't want to waste it or spend more money than possible but if that soap really works I'm definitely willing to spend the 5 bucks on it. Great progress btw, your face looks extremely better, good job keep up the good work man. Also let me know how that soap is working out for you if you can I'm really curious about the results. Thanks

I heard that deficiency in B6 may be a factor on the constant rebuild of the dead skin mask..

check this out B6

Pay attention to the deficiency part.. sebhorreic dermatitis is somehow like our dead skin mask problem.. I hope you get the connection I'm trying to point out.. XD Good luck dude! looking good. ;)

Cool thread! I don't post around here much and I think the last time I did I picked up the 6 fiber pills and SA chill factor. Worked pretty well for me, but I also started an antibiotic around the same time. I have severe cyst acne, occasional white heads, and I am 21 years old.

About 6 months ago I dropped the SA chill factor, but kept up the fiber pills. I now only wash my face/neck once a week with soap and about every other day with warm water. The soap I use is Dove Exfoliation bar soap. Ever since I have stopped using soaps that have acid in them, I have noticed a HUGE difference in my acne. Especially the occasional white heads and the length of time my cysts hung around. I treat my cysts with warm compresses about once a day (maybe twice if it is very bad). After much thought, I really began to notice that nothing the Dermatologist gave me ever seemed to work. Unless it was pills, which would eventually lose their awesome power of stopping acne (especially cysts).

I figured, if nothing the dermo is giving me works, it's time to take to the basics. My face is probably freaking out from all the crazy solutions I am putting on it and acids I am using to rub off essential oils my face needs to be healthy. Sure, it will dry it out, but i always noticed that if my acne would clear up, there would always be another location it would begin to sprout up. So I figured that's enough and stopped using soap on my face, unless it was dove sensitive skin(later moved to exfoliation) and only once a week at that.

What a huge difference my face became. I still have problems, but just washing my face with warm water and a rag really can do more wonders than one would expect. Instead of washing it with SA or BA soap, twice a day, constantly looking at it, and spending more time focusing on my acne. I feel like the more time I am in the bathroom looking at my acne, the more stress I am putting on myself and most likely causing more zits. My cysts are still a problem, but soap or no soap they have about leveled out.

ugh, a lot of people kept asking me what was wrong with my face so when i got home i was so fed up that i took the mask off of my forehead and now its pink and irritated >.<. i've been doing this since september and i only see a little difference. I'm starting to think about using water every few days but it's gonna make the dead skin come off and the process will be even longer. is anyone here using water? and if you are how is it going so far?

I am using water every day. I cup my hands and splash warm water on my face about 5 times or so while in the shower. After I get out I pat dry my face with a towel and use Aloe Vera. I removed the dead skin mask on my cheeks yesterday and suprisingly the skin underneath is healed. It is a little tiny pink but not really noticeable at all. I still have alot of dead skn on my forehead though and still haven't removed it yet cause I think it still needs time to heal because it's worse than my cheeks. But yea I have had the dead skin mask on my cheeks for about 2 months before I removed it. I removed part of it about 1 month and a half ago and it was very raw and pink and those areas are still a little red but now have dead skin covering them so my guess is it's healing like the rest of my cheeks. I would say wait at least 2 months before removing. A good test is to remove a little bit in an area that's not really noticeable to see if the skin underneath is healed or not.

Also I've been using water everyday for a little more than a month and the dead skin is still building up which is good I guess because it's healing.

WHaddup everybody!

A couple more things came to mind that I want to mention. I don't attribute 100% of my skin's success to the caveman regimen.. Come to think of it, I think it only served to about half of my personal solution.

I bought an ebook called Clear for Life.... and an amazing guy named Seppo wrote it... He's posted alot on the acne.org forums and helped people get over the emotional/psychological side of acne.

In my opinion, you cant just stop washing and hope for miracles.. You've gotta get out there and take some action.

The other half of my skin's healing came from a culmination of different things... Some probably helped more than others... I'm not sure which of these helped, and which had no effect.

  • Full spectrum light bulb in my desk lamp (I sit at my desk 5+ hours a day)
  • Working out 5+ times per week (where atleast twice a week i break a heavy sweat in my face)
  • Every morning I drink a green smoothie with spinach/romaine/carrots
  • Every morning I sit down and meditate... to center myself. (Its nothing religous, just calming yourself down with deep breathing)
  • Positive attitude
  • Every morning I watch a clear skin mind movie (Hard to explain, it came with clear for life)
  • sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep 8 hours a night. very routine like

Ok, so here is the reasoning behind a few of those. The full spectrum lightbulb is supposed to simulate real sunlight.... which is hard to get in the winter. Working out to the point of sweating helps kill bacteria on your face, but more importantly, exercise is the NUMBER ONE way to boost your immune system. Green smoothie - just the fastest way to get all my vegetables i need for the day. The mind movie... helps my mind... it gives me motivational messages and reminds me of the most important thing; "acne is a coach that helps you grow" Everyday i need to hear that, so I think of acne as a blessing instead of a curse.

So don't go on this regimen thinking once i stop applying topicals everything will fix itself... Remember! You applied topicals for a reason, become internally healthy and give it enough time... It will show in your skin.

muh man jmaaan! The cleansing bar I ordered is backordered... I guess its a huge seller :( So i guess I wont get it for another month.

Wapak the guru!! Thanks for the B6 tip... but I eat 3-6 bananas every day. So B6 deficiency cant be it... Any other vitamin causes that it could be?

my worst nightmare! dude your making the right choice by washing with water. Start off using lukewarm or maybe even cool water. You dont want to shock your skin since its still in a heavy recovering phase.

I'm very close to being clear! My lifestyle changes that I made way back in the summer are really starting to kick in. I feel alive and vibrant. I'll check back once a week or so to encourage you guys.

Live Life
