Ah, OK. I have one, then. Gotta quit the no-wash regimen though because I am getting new indented scars scary-fast now, yipes. This sucks.

I haven't washed my face since mid October with anything other than water. After a month my skin was no longer oily, then all the blackheads on my nose (like every pore) vanished... My skin feels soft and has a natural glow to it, first time since I hit puberty. o.0

Still break out, just as much as I did washing it twice daily though.

I have been washing my face with distilled water only the past few days, it seems to like being hydrated and I'm not getting massive breakouts thus far, so I'm going to continue doing it. I still have little flakes of dead skin, so I don't think the water is washing the dead skin mask away completely. Hopefully it can run it's course while I pour distilled water and then let it air dry once a day, albeit it will probably slow the whole process down a lot.

Haven't posted here in awhile. On day 12 of no water and must say I'm pretty happy. A fwe days ago(Day 9?) after my shower I had dead skin everywhere as usual but noticed my nose was flaking a little and seeing this i immediately used my finger and just brushed the parts that were flaking. After a few hours of not looking in the mirror when I finally did I saw that my nose had clear skin. The skin was was a little pink but no where near looking like it was peeling. It is just clear, pink skin. Although there is 2 little spots of dead skin on my nose that still need healing and haven't flaked yet my nose is very clear and looks good. After seeing this I am now confident that this will happen to the rest of my face and I've learned to just wait and be patient and let it flake off and clear skin will come. Trust me guys I know it's hard to live with the dead skin mask and it makes your face look like it is permantely dirt but as many people have said about the caveman regimen before, things will get worse before they get better. Some worse for others but the key here really is patience and to let your skin heal. Anyways still have very thick dead skin mask on forehead and it is brownish and is dark. Woke up this morning and some parts were flaking which is good and I just need to wait it out. Though I won't be clear by Christmas I know in due time I will eventually be clear.

day 13: my skin took quite the beating from that exfoliation mishap from day 7. i'm not noticing much of a difference in my acne yet, it was looking better until i exfoliated so i think i'm backtracking a bit. the dead skin (most noticeable between my eyebrows and on my forehead) is rather unattractive when i put on makeup (which is rare these days).

all in all, things are not too bad, could be better, could be worse. might try cold water tomorrow, not sure though.

Hey guys, this is my first ever post here but i've been reading the whole thread (every single post lol) and its so fascinating!

I'm 18 years old and regularly used Oxy facewash/face scrub but still have...i'd say mild acne but a few scars/red marks.

I actually decided to start the regimen yesterday so stopped with the facewash and washing the face. Day 1 was weird not washing my face, really really oily. Today wasnat as oily but i noticed 1 breakout just below my lower lip.

Luckily i'm home until mid-January but have exams from 14/15th so worried that my face will look disgusting by the time o go back..

My reason why this is working for you:

There are lots of "Friendly" bacteria on your face, and also good oils which keep your skin hydrated and protected from the elements like no other moisturizer can do. The friendly bacteria will successfully compete with the ance bacteria, and can win. Also, this "good" bacteria on your face realeases a compound called lipoteichoic acid (LHA) which reduces inflammation. However, when you have a wound on your skin, this good bacteria actually becomesbad bacteria when it gets below the skins surface. So when youve noticed that your skin is worse when you wash and its dry and cracking, it is wounded and bacteria are getting in there......

Eitherway i think its a good idea to exfoliate every 3-4 days to unclog pores... at least once a week, because it will add up. And when you do exfoliate use heavy moisturizer that is non comdedongenic.

I am currently attempting this too...!!

This has worked pretty well for me. I'll not wash my face for a few days, and I find my skin usually gets better. I have pretty much no blackheads when I'm not washing.

However, I hate how my skin feels. I always cave in and wash my face after a few days because I hate how it feels so much. I also haven't been able to ween off shampoo.

I keep telling myself that i'ts only temporary and pretty soon my face is going to be clear. Also, I'd rather deal with this for a short period of time then a very long time.

Im on day 3 and my face is beyond oily. It's so bad I won't leave my house. I literally have pools of oil on my face. Is this normal? How long will it last?

Yes, this is normal. It'll last for a few more days. By day 5 you'll see less oil on your face.

Good Luck!

Has anyone here actually used this regimen with success?

I started it a month ago, after much Benzoyl Peroxide (ab)use.

I think I'm healing my skin, but not necessarily clearing it. At least not for a while. About 3 weeks into this, I started to wash my face with distilled water, which I've been continuing to do once a day since. I used to use lots of BP everyday, now I tone with ACV and spot-treat with tea tree oil. They work wonders! The pimples I get now heal a lot faster, plus my skin looks more natural and less dull than while I was using BP.

As far as this working, I think there have to be other factors at play to make this work, at least for me. I can't just not wash my face, and eat loads and loads of junk food or whatever I want, and expect clear skin. I'm glad I got off BP, because it was just masking an underlying problem, which I'm more determined to get to the bottom of now that my acne is more apparent.

Idk if it counts as Caveman Regimen but since December 10 I've only washed my face with water a few times. But anyways, my tone has improved a little bit but not as drastically as I was hoping for. Today the dead skin mask was turning into brown patches on my forehead, nose and cheeks so after my shower and while my face was still wet I used my fingernail to not really remove but sort of thin it and just flake off some of the dead skin. Awhile back my first attempt removing the mask didn't go so well and it looked like my skin was peeling because it wasn't healed at all and it was very raw and pink and because I also went too deep in removing the skin and was anxious and trust me it wasn't good. Back to today, after I "thinned" the mask the skin underneath is a little pink but it is clear. I think I should've waited a little longer to let it heal but it was impossible, it looked horrible. Hope this helps

Well, I never really had acne in the first place, just redness from irritation on my inner cheeks and nose with little red bumps. Besides the dead skin on those areas, im pretty much clear. wapak, juan carlo, alex almighty, and a few others have had success with this as well.

I have mild acne compared to a lot of people here, but I am very happy with my decision to give up products. I did regularly use water on my face with jojoba oil about a month ago, but I have moved to just applying peppermint jojoba oil in the shower. I can't say I am all clear yet, but right now I am definitely better than I was before I gave up bp.

It's been a week and I'm still sooo oily. The main reason I did this was to balance out my super oily skin and so far it's not working. Should I keep waiting?

I am 22 years old and started this regimen 14 days ago. ive had acne since i was about 16 and treated it with benzoyl peroxide. it has predominantly always been on my cheeks so i began just treating that area about three years ago. now the only acne I have is on my cheeks and this area appears to be red and irriatated i havent touched my fore head in like 3 years and it is flawless, my chin and mouth area are as well. Also my cheeks are far more oily than my forehead and I believe it is supposed to be the opposite, so I assume it is the BP an SA causing this. the first week went very well. I rinsed with water at night for like 10 seconds. With in the last few days I have been getting verysmall redmarks than do not come to a head but there are more than normal. I am wondering if this is just the damaged skin underneath what has been peeling of this is new ace. I have had minimal peeling over my cheeks and nowhere else. has anyone gone through this?

Keep waiting. There should be less oil on your face in a few days.

The peeling means that that skin is dead and the skin underneath is healing. The redmarks are the damaged skin underneath.

Is this a long term solution to acne and oily skin? Once the oil decreases will it stay like that?

Yes, it is. The main thing to get clear is to try and not touch your face. When the deadskin mask comes, its not going to be fun haha. It sucks cause its brown and kind of noticable but if you dont touch it, it heals faster. I don't wash my face and i feel it works better because the mask stays on your face and heals instead of getting washed off and returning. i know i wrote a little more than expected haha but im just giving you some advice. If you have any questions pm me.
