I completely agree with this no cleaning method. As i suffer from TEWL in a BIG BIg way, BUT can someone please tell me,

HOW THE HELL CAN YOU WASH YOUR HAIR AND NOT LET WATER TOUCH YOUR FACE!?!?!

If anyone especially waterwater can answer this question it would be a miracle.

Has anyone doing this seen improvement in redness/red marks? I'm on day 7 today so I was wondering when i may start to see my skin really changing. Finally had a little breakout with like 4 small pimples that should be gone within a day or so. My redness has gone down a little bit, but my face still doesnt look so great. It's all those darn red marks :/ Also, when did the flakiness start subsiding. I thought it was going away a little bit and woke up this morning and was INSANELY flakey. Thanks!

Finishing up day 14-17 (originally started back on Oct. 25th but after a few days would wash everything away for first 2 weeks). I am very pleased with my tone and complexion right now, but I have 2 say that I have seen little to no reduction in dead skin within the last week-week 1/2. That is very discouraging to me because I thought that once the acid mantle had repaired itself (takes 14-17 days from what I've heard/read) that the dead skin would go away for good. Tommorrow is Thanksgiving and I was hoping that my face would b completely clear and not full of any dead skin or flakes when I started this. Most people on here have said that after 2 or 3 weeks the dead skin reduces significantly so I'm starting to worry a bit considering that I really started this a month ago from yesterday with a few hiccups along the way. It just really sux looking into the mirror and looking like u just dipped ur face in a bowl of milk and let it dry. I've gone to work, school and everywhere else looking like this with the motivation that it would go away on its own. I guess you could say I needed a confidence boost right now.

Hm.. well this sounds pretty interesting. I've been wanting to give this a try for a while. Too scared to try it, especially since my skin, for the most part, is pretty clear & I was afraid of breaking out horribly from all the dirt, oil, pollution & everything else that mucks up skin.

I do get occasional pimples, and I have what looks to me like irritated red bumps. So I'm thinking this might really help a lot. My skin is VERY sensitive.. and is dry just from using water. And my skin definitely looks the best in the morning when I wake up and before I touch or wash my face or anything. I've always wondered why that was but I now I totally get it, lol. Duh..

Anyway, I'm a girl.. and I DO wear makeup sometimes (only on special occasions).. that in itself, discourages me. I guess most of you who have tried it are guys too... so this experiement might just fail miserably..

I'll give this a go soon. The good part is I don't have too many places to go so I don't have to worry about my appearance too much. I'm done with school, and I'm a house wife.. so.. yeah. Of course I do need to go out to do shopping and whatnot, but oh well. I don't care. =)

@yepican - Just don't focus on it so much, and try not to look in the mirror too often. I'm sure it'll pass.. I used to be very self concious of my skin, and was always checking to see what it looked like in the mirror.. but I'm getting way better now. I know it's easier said than done.. but.. =/ you'll be fine.

well after a week or so of my 'softcore' version of this regimen i have now had a nasty looking spot on my cheek. Its quite red, i will now see if the lack of washing will help with the healing process.

my skin looks crap btw. Which is good, i guess....

Well, I'm going to give this a go, not necessarily because I think it's going to be the end to my acne, but because the BP and whatnot makes my skin look like crap. If my face had the same natural glow as the rest of my body, I honestly wouldn't mind a bit of acne. Right now I have 2 active pimples, a small cyst, and 4-5 dead/healing pimples.

^^^ good luck

i have been doing my regimen now for a few weeks and i think its working well, im still getting new acne but my face looks healthier once i get the dead skin off. Still need a lot more time though to see if this is working.

Another note is that i thought before i started this that i would get lots of blackheads, that has not been the case though. What clogged pores i have had, have just became unclogged fairly quickly.

Well I wanted to let people know about the success I am having with a soft-core version of this.

Some background information. I found this post after thinking about why I still had acne even after making many positive health changes to my life. Reducing sugar, caffeine, and dairy intake along with eating more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains plus supplements of fish/flaxseed oil(for omega 3) and zinc( I avoid other supplements and try to get it through whole foods) had helped reduce my acne significantly, yet I would still get new pimples almost every day. Then I thought about to my high school years(I'm 21 now) when I had almost perfect skin and was eating pretty unhealthy and never washed my face aside from during my showers or after sports with no acne and thought about what I was doing different. Then it struck me! I was washing my face twice daily with Dan's facial wash and using PB. It never occurred to me that washing my face with the cleanser was the culprit (I felt like punching myself lol). My mom and brothers don't have acne and they only wash their face with water. So I found this post after some online searching.

So my soft-core version of this is washing my face only once a day(sometimes more if I play sports and sweat) gently with warm water only(normally during/after showing). So I have been doing this for about a month now(along with everything else I had been doing with eating healthy) and I am glad to say that the results are immense. My skin tone now looks normal and I haven't had an active pimple for about a week now(only scars). The previous weeks I would get 1 or 2 new pimples(which is much less than I normally would get) and they healed much quicker. During this time I have been applying 99% organic Aloe Vera gel to help with the healing and applying pure vitamin e oil afterward(caution:apply sparingly for the oil will drip and irritate the eyes if it gets in which can happen overnight when you sleep) to help the scars fade with great results. Aloe Vera worked great to help heal active pimples quicker. Another problem that is gone now because of this is my oily skin. I use to have very oily skin that was a horrible shine a few hours after washing my face with the cleanser. I believe that the harsh chemicals in the cleanser and BP made my skin unable to absorb its own oil. Now that my skin has healed, it must be absorbing its oil because my skin is no longer oily. My skin is almost back to what it was during high school.

So that was my experience and I am so glad to have finally found something that really worked for me after years of acne. I truly believe that the cleanser (I don't have sensitive skin either) was striping way the natural oils that my skin produces and needed. I am sure my many positive health changes played a factor in helping reduce my acne, but I had been doing that for many months with clearing not as significant as not using a cleanser has resulted in. I was hesitant of posting this with all the users arguing otherwise, but I wanted to let people know about my experience so that it may help others. I know this won't help everyone, but it may help a few. I would recommend anyone to at least try this.

I will try to check this thread once in a while if people have any questions.

New member to site. I had tried to "only water" treatment as of lately. Now I will look towards this regimen.

I have moderate acne with a few cysts here and there. Not to sound like a "cocky" person but I am waaaaay too looking of a person (male) to experience these problems.

I'll keep updates.

I did not experience any flaking really since I did wash my face with water once a day to get rid of any dead skin along with the aloe vera gel/vitamin e oil that didn't get absorbed. About two weeks into it, I would use a aspirin mask once a week to exfoliate my skin of any lingering dead skin. It worked out well enough.

I'm on Day 2.

What I've noticed :

The oils from Day 1 made my skin look much healthier now that I'm not constantly washing and being concerned over it. The existing blemishes that are there look to be much calmer and subsiding slowly. I looked in the mirror this morning and don't plan to until tonight. No negatives to report. I'll do a part B post tonight if I get the chance.

Holla

Well, it seems like everyone else is having good results with this so im going to give it a try.

a little bit about me, im 23, white, male, really oily skin, red face all over, not too many pimples, but used to have bad acne. I do have pimples on my back and chest, and occasionally get some on my face. also, my hair is very oily too, back and chest get oily also.

I have tried almost everything, i have tried this regimen once before but quit after about 5 days, but now i see that it gets better after time. I am not going to let water hit my face, hair, back, or chest at all for as long as i can.

so here it goes day 1, no water on face, hair, back or chest...

Well I believe that its not the water that does harm, but any kind of harsh chemicals you use on it(ie my cleanser). Water itself is cleansing enough. I personally wouldn't recommend not washing yourself for that long. Just no cleanser and use cool water. Exercise and changing your diet like I did may help alot too plus zinc(I take 25mg a day with food)/ and omega3 oils(fish/flaxseed). Try an apple a day for fruit and added fiber.

there are different types of water. chlorinated tap water can irritate sensitive skin.

Yes I know, but even that is nothing compare to most cleanser. I am sure using that water to cleanse is better then letting dirt, oil, and dead skin build up.....

so its day 2 now, my skin is less red than it was yesterday, but its very oily which i understand because its so used to be washed off then my body has to compensate and produce more oil. my hair is super oily too which sucks but its alright.

no new pimples yet, skin has been a little bit itchy, but im not going to touch it at all, i gently pad it with a tissue just to remove the excess oil on my skin.

it sure is nice though to not have to get up early and take a shower and do my whole routine in the morning and evening.

im sticking to my strict diet, drinking only water, and bascially eating only foods from the land, if its made by man then i dont eat it. pretty simple, gets kinda bland but we have to look at the big picture and go for the goal.

I hope everyone jumps in on this and trys it, because it really makes sense if you do a little research it shows that there is more acne and skin problems now a days then there was when people only took a bath maybe once a year. its just so simple that people don't think about it.

good luck to everyone else, and ill keep you guys posted everyday.

ill prob switch to just no washing for 3 days and then wash.

everyone should give this a try. just exercise, eat healthy, and try to eliminate stress and thats it.

hope everyone has a great new year.

itstimeforhealing: i didnt wash with water for weeks at one point. probably a bit excessive i dont know though. maybe it was good for healing. i now pour water over my face every 2-3 days. i use filtered or bottled water
