anyone tried this ??
"the acne practice" is a scammmmm. search it on the boards if you wanna know more.
The Acne Practice is not a scam. I've used this program for my seb dermatitis with excellent results. I was treated in person at Dr. Neil's office in NYC. His program is non-invasive and uses very simple methods and principals for controlling outbreaks. Most of his patients are severe acne patients but I have mild to moderate dermatitis and his program works for me. The only thing is that his program requires a lot of discipline and persistence. So while it's simple in terms of its principals, in practice it requires you to be fluid. You have to monitor your progress very carefully and adjust the paramaters of the program accordingly.
thank you for posting... Do you still use it for your Dermatitis... And do you have Seborrheic Dermatitis? Did it gave you a 100% full relief of rashes if you did follow up following schedule...also during/after washing? I got the idea that this is a good treatment but I am a lot worried about the programm.. I think if it goes wrong than you have a good problem..
But I had some correspondation with Dr. Neal.. and it do look good to me.. so possible I am going to try it..if the sulphur soap does not work for me.
@ Ceci,
Thanks too. so no more rashes after washing.. I'll try now another sulphur soap.. on one site of the nose with Intenisve treatment of H&S and the other site after with sulphur and coal tar cream.
I try this for at least one week as you said that the sulphur soap needed one week.. The sulphur soap of your brand makes it possible to sent it too Holland but they count 30 dollars for post...
Hi JKSL,
thank you, do you have SD yourself too?
I do, but it's mild enough for me to not worry about it so much. I have it mostly around the folds of my nose and the front center part of my hairline.
btw, I ordered P 5' P by Thorne Research at iherb. And i will be taking one cap at night. I also ordered the b-complex #3 by Thorne Research and i'll be taking one cap sometime during the day. I have a bottle of 5mg biotin by Jarrow. I'll take one with breakfast and another with the b-complex.
Oh yeah, i also ordered zinc gluconate powder by Life Extension as well which i will be taking at night with the P 5' P (active B6 vitamin).
I didn't order these supps for the seb derm though. I'm trying to slow down my hairloss. Hopefully, this will deal with the seb derm issue as well. The seb derm probably contributes to some of my hairloss.
Hi,
good thing that you are going to try this.
Maybe better first trying to take it seperately... cause some b vitamins makes it more worse..
I did try biotin for a while and it did gave me some relief but only for a short time.
if I where you I should first try the zinc in combination with the P5 (b6 active form)
and see what it does to you. of course up to you..
please tell us what it will do to you..
iv tried everything under the sun to releave my SD and nothing seems to work very effectively for more than a few days. i have constant outbreaks of redness on the sides of my nose and down the folds from my nose to sides of my mouth. i don't have the flaking anymore, just redness. has anyone found anything that helps with these kind of flare ups? i definitely think SD has to do with digestion issues.
see my other posts for what i've tried:

thoughts?
has anyone found anything that helps with these kind of flare ups? i definitely think SD has to do with digestion issues.thoughts?
i did go on a diet for about a month where i only ate meat and raw fruits, veggies, and nuts...however, i did this not specifially for the sd but actually because i lost weight recently and it was suspected that i had digestion issues...we didn't find out what's wrong with me and i still feel sick, but the sd on my face improved significantly. however, this could have nothing to do with the diet but could be due to my using ACV, sulfur, head & shoulders, and finacea. for the record my skin hasn't gotten worse since i started eating regular again...since you're already a vegan, i don't see what else you could do...i'd suggest probiotics but it seems you've tried that, too...have you tried stress management? i know my sd gets worse when i'm stressed, as soon as i get upset i can feel the skin on my face slowly getting hotter and itchier...
i definitely have the stress breakouts. even when i'm really relaxed though the areas on the side of my nose down the folds to my mouth are red tinted. i just don't get it. it looks dry or semi-oily, but must be releasing some sort of oily substance that is causing an inflammation on my skin. any ideas?
have you had problems with your cheeks getting rough in texture? i have tried the things you mentioned on them and a million lotions and oils.
So my SD is horrible now, honestly i am no longer white, im red. My whole face is horrible now.
Im on accutane aswell, can i still use it at the same time?
I thought SD was caused by oil buildup, doesnt moisturizer have oils? I was told by my derm that my use of moisturizer wasnt helping at all.
Can someone give me a complete list of what I should go buy. This includes moisturizer and soap.
Do I use the soap on my whole face or just on the SD?
Also does anyone have pictures of there SD? Im curious as to what everyone elses looks like aswell. This is for those who feel comfortable posting it.
Just popped in to report another miracle find; Water based zinc cream! Im STOAKED! The last stubborn seborrhea on my nose wings.. GONE! (Zero trace! After always there for 30+ years.)
derma . dk/produkter/baby/ (the zinc salve next to the baby oil)
derma . dk/produkter/produktblad.php?pid=7 (content)
(My previous tries with zinc cream were bad for my skin. This time I found a water based cream (others were oil) and its BRILLIANT. Its great for other stuff too, but wont go into all that.)
could have nothing to do with the diet but could be due to my using ACV, sulfur, head & shoulders, and finacea. for the record my skin hasn't gotten worse since i started eating regular again...
Yea there is a strong correlation to food in general. (See my previous post for the whole reason why!)
My whole face is horrible now. /SNIP/ I was told by my derm that my use of moisturizer wasnt helping at all.
Yup - been there!! My experience is that conventional lotions and creams make the red areas EXPAND! Same goes for soap (all conventional soaps). Realize that the skin itself is producing stuff that fight the fungi (oils and salts). By washing and replacing with man-made moisturizers, you are helping create a better environment for the fungi to thrive in. My suggestion for you, based on how I cured myself:
===
Phase 1 - get rid of major redness:
-Stop putting stuff on skin. ENTIRELY!! (No makeup!)
-Wash GENTLY with hands only in LUKEWARM water and let air-dry (NO TOWEL!)
-Repeat after 2-3 days. Avoid touching skin in the meantime. (YUP: No daily showering/washing!)
If better after 1 week, it is working! Keep at it until skin is back to its old 'normal' redness level. NB, you cant exercise much during this! Aim to avoid face sweat entirely. (Avoid chili too!) Also try to avoid temperature changes. Avoid big meals. Avoid food additives. Get a water (only) bottle and keep it with you!
===
Phase 2 - get rid of 'stubborn redness':
Now, that your skin is less irritated, it can tolerate a little bit of actual treatment. But watch out! If you over-do things, you can go back to your current 'irritated' skin-state. If you do, go back to phase 1!
Continue with the phase 1 regime EXCEPT:
-Gently rub some CLEAR lip balm containing capric triglyceride (coconut oil) on the 'stubborn' spots. Try once every 2 days, and increase to daily if goes ok.
Remember, we are still NOT touching the skin except when gently washing in lukewarm water only.
===
Phase 3 - Discontinue the lip balm and carefully put a layer of water based zinc cream (baby diaper cream) on remining red spots. NB: these spots should only be slightly irritated! If skin is fully red, you are not ready for this.
(Disclaimer: Im no dermatologist. Im I have no medical education. This is all based on how I successfully got rid of SD.)

Where you able to manage a 100 % SD free flake face all the time? Are you still using it? What do you mean with fluid?
a big thanks.

i tried coconut oil for several weeks and it really just made things worse. i know people are always getting rid of the same problem with different solutions when it comes to skin stuff, but just sayin... if it doesn't work for you, you're not the only one haha
reb- since you're also on accutane you may as well try out the "no-washing" thing...now's as good a time as any.
Ive been taking zinc, Vitamin b2 and b6 everyday, it really has been helping me with my SD. I no longer have the dead skin that hangouts and 50% of the redness is gone.
that's great news...
How long you already do this?
is the rash fully 100% stop on face?
how much zinc do you take?
anyone have any thoughts what to do about stubborn redness? i got the flaky skin part pretty under control, but the areas effected by sd are still red to pink throughout the day.
also my cheeks aren't red or flakey, but they are rough in texture and have some browning in spots. i've tried all kinds of stuff to smooth the skin out again.
So my SD is horrible now, honestly i am no longer white, im red. My whole face is horrible now.

Hi. I use Dr. Joesoef's 10% sulfur soap and it works for me. You can google it. Then I always moisturize with unrefined shea butter.
Hi. I don't know what shipping charges to Holland are like on Amazon.com but perhaps you can find another brand of 10% sulfur soap (even though all sulfur soaps are not the same) there. Also, I see there's some unrefined shea butter on Amazon but again, I don't know what the shipping charges to Holland are like.
Low calcium and vit D. I don't know if the milk in Holland is fortified with vit D but perhaps you need to increase your milk intake and/or supplements with calcium and vit D.
Good Luck.
Having had Seb Derm for 9 years now, I thought i'd give some information on what has worked for me in the past.
I first started having problems with Seb Derm when I was 16, I went to my doctors and he prescibed me hydrocortisone cream which worked wonders, it cleared up within a day or two. But I flared up again and again afterwards and eventually this did not work anymore, as other people i've found. After this I used moisturiser everyday, but really had no control at all over my condition. It would get worse and get better again and the cycle would repeat.
I went to my doctor time and time again and was never given a conclusive diagnosis. I eventually self diagnosed myself as having Seb Derm after searching on the internet about 4 years ago. I found a very helpful yahoo web group and tried a lot of what had been suggested on there.
The problem with my Seb Derm is, it eventually seems to form a resistance to what i'm using. So things that worked really well in the past, eventually don't work so well anymore.
I used H&S with Zinc Pyritone, which got rid of the flaking, but left my skin quite red. It did seem to give me at least a little control over the condition.
I then switched to using H&S intensive treatment & Selsun blue which have a Selenium Sulphide.
At the same time I started taking Vilantae pills.
When I started with this, my Seb Derm completely cleared up for about a year and I was so happy! I could go out and do normal things and not feel so self conscious about how I looked!
Eventually though, I got lazy and stopped taking the pills (there expensive), but continued using the shampoo. It took a little time but eventually me Seb Derm came back, and seemed to be more aggressive than before. When I started taking the pills again I couldn't get the control I had before and my skin would flare up still. I did regain a little control of it.
My skin still isn't great now, i've used shampoos with coal tar and ketoconazole and they haven't helped me that much. I've started trying new things and will let you know how it goes.
I'm using Cetaphil cleanser, and still taking me vilantae. I'm also back to using H&S with zinc pyritone and i've started taking extra b6 +b12 vitamins. While my skin isn't flaky, it is still reddish and i'm hoping this will go away!
Good luck to anyone trying any treatments, I hope they work, I know exactly how you feel!!!
thanks for the luck Ceci,
I did search on amazon but can't find that soap.. I think I am going to order the one you have.
Do you have for me the product brand name of your shea butter.. Does your skin look fat if you put that on? You wash your face once in the 24 hours with the sulphur soap, how do you wash your face on the other half of the 24 hours?
I try the same way as you do... cause there are many differences between products.. and than the result will be different as well.
I am using now that sulphur soap for one week on one side of my nose i still got.. but I notice less rash now and do moisturise it with oil of olaz regenerist brand name. but still really tiny rash when I rub my finger strong against the side of my nose and wrap it up and downwards.. this is for me the ultimate check.. and still got a tiny itch.
Somtimes I take godliver oil.. that will help for sure.. but not too much and only once in the three days like taking on the same way the vit b pills.
It is strange that I am low on calcium cause I take everyday 3 cups of yoghurt.
Did I already wrote down the results of my Stool test?
First post!
I've been a SD sufferer for 3 or 4 years, at first I didnt know what it was then with the help of this board I figured it out. I really dont like it, i blow off my friends a lot when its very bad. There always like your so lame, if they only knew what it was like.
I've had decent luck with Head and Shoulders but I see that it is not very good for your skin, can I ask what the sulfates do? Is there a zinc blah blah blah only treatment?
I've tried nizoral and it works sometimes and not the next not sure why. We need to get more sufferers in here so we have more information to help figure good things out.
As far as the steriod method my brother has had good luck with it however he does get red if he doesnt use it. Whats so bad about steriods? By the way he has been doing it for 2 years.
Thanks,
AJ
