I am new to this site but have been creeping for about a year now trying to find a cure for my pityrosporum folliculitis, versicolor and seb derm. A brief history- was put on oral antibiotics (bactrim to be exact) for 2+ years for moderate acne on face and body. Worked well for a few years, still had breakouts here and there, but was satisfied overall. Then the nightmare began. About a year ago I noticed my chest and back were breaking out in these strange pimples that wouldn't pop or go away for months at a time. Then developed a strange rash on my stomach (small red bumps, itchy). My face was still relatively clear. After going to 3 different derms who all said it was acne and wanted me to stay in antibiotic, I finally found one who did a KOH test and confirmed it was indeed malassezia related. Was put on oral pulse sporanox 3 times and diflucan once. Was also prescribed a ton of topicals: ketaconazol cream, econazole nitrate, naftin cream, ketaconazol shampoo, selenium sulfide lotion, avar cleanser, aczone... And also tried many OTC topicals, including: head and shoulders, selsun blue, nizoral, born to be mild, Cynthia bailey zinc bar soap, lotramin ultra, apple cider vinegar, lamisil, diaper rash cream, the list could go on forever. Anyways, after getting practically nowhere with all of this, I finally found a derm who would put me on accutane. She said accutane is not a treatment for folliculitis, but I had done extensive research and was positive if I could reduce the oil this fungus was feeding off of, my condition would clear or at least get better. Wrong move. Was put on accutane about 2 months ago (60 mg a day). I thought that was an extremely high dose considering I only weigh around 110-115lbs. I quit accutane after 2 weeks because of the severe facial flushing, flaking and clogged pores. The flushing was so severe, I was shopping at target and could feel my heart beating in my face then I look in the mirror and my face was as red as the target shopping cart, I kid you not. Also, I had a mustache of flaking skin and also flakes all over my nose, behind my ears, and around my hairline. I knew this was seb derm. Not saying accutane caused it, since I was only on it for 2 weeks? But I never had seb derm before accutane. Anyways, went back to derm, she was upset i quit accutane, yelled at me saying accutane doesn't cause seb derm, then put me on steroid for behind my ears and scalp, and promiseb for my face. Used promiseb for 2 weeks and all it has done is break me out in clogged pores and huge cystic looking pimples ( have about 12 on my face right now) and has done nothing for the flaking tight skin. I would rather have the cysts than the red flaking painful skin that has me looking like old lady skin. I can peel off thin flakes of skin with tweezers everyday. It has now spread to my forehead and below my eyebrows. I'm scared my eyes will be the next victim. I dread waking up and looking In the mirror. The itch is unbearable. The flushing has reduced after stopping accutane, but the flaking and raw skin still remain. I have tried cerave moisturizer and cleaning only with cetaphil and cool water. I have tried the ketoconazole on my face too. Nothing helps. It may get very slightly better for a day or two but then comes back with a vengeance. Also forgot to mention, I had blood and stool tests done and all came back normal. I have always eaten heathy, even tried gluten free for a month and tried eating only baby food for a few weeks ( was desperate). The baby food diet seemed to help a little but not much and wasn't practical as I am a 26 year old adult. I have been taking Vsl3 probiotics for a month now, and also take zinc, vit b, d, coconut oil capsules, oil of oregeno, and fish oil. After every meal I get extremely bubbly stomach. My stomach makes all sorts of noises and I can feel bubbles popping inside me( don't know how else to explain the feeling). It is not a pleasant feeling and sometimes I get cramps and my stomach is always making gurgling sounds. I've never had these stomach or skin issues before the antibiotic. I would gladly take my moderate acne back over this monster any day. I have also been under quite a bit of stress the past 8 months due to a break up, tonsillectomy, and stressful job. I think my immune system is shot. I killed off all my good flora and I believe that's why my skin is out of control. I have read seb derm is a chronic disease (incurable) and I have also read once you kill all your good flora, it's impossible to replace. I refuse to believe either of those statements. I can't believe them, because if I do, I'm not sure I can go on living this way. I hate the way I look and feel. Have missed many family events and weddings this past year due to this condition. I am depressed and desperate. All i do is research this skin condition day and night. I have read about doing an anti candida or GAPS diet and have also considered fecal transplant (DIY at home, as it is only FDA approved for c diff patients). I feel I need to heal my gut and perhaps my skin will heal too. If you've never heard of a fecal transplant, please do a simple google search and let me know what you think. I know the idea of it is disgusting, but if you are desperate like me, than it may be an option. I am also going to go on a 3 day detox and then start eating only organic homemade bone Broth for a week or two then introduce some homemade fermented vegetables and keep taking my probiotic. Bone broth is said to be very nutrient dense and healing for the intestines. I don't plan on eating any grains, sugar, soy, gluten or corn. I will slowly introduce organic beef, chicken and steamed veggies after drinking the bone broth for a week or so. Haven't decided on the fecal transplant, but I don't think it would hurt. Sorry for such a long post. Hope someone takes the time to read it and share their opinions.

Hello Hopeless90 welcome to the forum , i believe that your dermatologist may have damaged your skin with accutane . I haven't heard a single person that was cured with accutane and all have bad experience with it.

i believe washing your skin with good cleanser twice a day (both face and body) to get the oils off is a good start. What helped me a lot was ketoconazole cream which i apply once daily for 7 days and my condition impooves. It doesnt re-appear for around 13 days. Then i apply again the cream and use the same treatment

if you go to page 21 of this forum there is a person claiming that viotin cured his SD and antiviotics were propably the cause. Viotin and folic acid can help seborrheic dermatitis.

I am currently testing this kind of treatment and if the doses of these vitamins are normal you have nothing to be afraid of to try them.I use multi-vitamins which contain many vitamins .

I always ask my local pharmacy in order to try something and they help me if they can. I suggest you to do the same.

These of course are only suggestions and you use them with your own responsibility.

From my experience Dermatologists never helped my seborrheic dermatitis. I visited them just to spend my money in talking when i had a serious condition to treat.

I went back to the dermatologist because the seb derm on my scalp was so bad I could barely move my head/ neck without pain. The skin is so dry and flaky it hurts to move. She prescribed me derma smooth scalp oil for my head. It is a steroid. I know this isn't good but nothing else is helping so I'm going to use it. I also have extina which is ketoconazole foam and i have ketoconazole cream and shampoo as well. I can feel my upper lip and nose starting to burn like a flare is coming. This condition is the worst! You get one spot cleared up and another one forms! My uncle is a doctor and I had him prescribe me 3 weeks worth of fluconazole tablets. I'm going to try these out if topicals don't work. I am taking biotin and fish oil. I heard fish oil is really supposed to help. Is anyone else taking it? Has anyone tried fluconazole. Thanks for the reply hopedieslast.

Right now I'm sitting in my room with the ketoconazole shampoo in my hair. I'm going to let it sit for a good 15 minutes then rinse and use the steroid. I've also started to developed small pimples on my head that itch and are painful. Is this part of seb derm too? It makes me wonder what's going on in my body to cause all of this.

I forgot to mention she also prescribed protopic. I am scared to use it though because The side effects scare me. (Warts/cold sores where you apply it) and also a risk of cancer. Ugh!

Ok everybody,I have just talked to my family in Mexico, my sister who has had a toenail fungus forever,

Like about , at least 20 years.told me that this is the first time that she had ever had any improvement on her toenail, she took so many antifungal prescriptions that they damage her liver.

Ok now about me , I'm fed up ,5 big cystic acne pimples, about a week ago.fed up ,penny ,hope dies last ,hope 90 listen......

This is going to be good decision ok ,....go an Google vicks vaporub for rosacea ,for pimples .

Ok just try it on a pimple overnight, all I can say it's that everything you have ,I have , or have had over the years , everything that you have been through I have.

Now I already posted about vicks, and I stopped it , because I thought that I was having eye problems , the eye problem started before and after vicks vaporub, ok .

Well ,I had said that I went back to my normal routine.

Well it failed big time, so guess ,

Vicks to the rescue , it seems that vicks vaporub kills demodex ,mallazessia?, well whatever stupid fungus, ok so my sister said that she was loosing some hair around her hair line.So there she goes ,a little massage with Vicks, not a lot , just with your fingertips , now guess what she's growing hair on her bald spots ,

And now before going to bed both of my sister's use a vaporub mask.

Ok I was afraid to use it , because my face was leathery , but before I get skin cancer I want to fight this stupid fungus, or cystic pimples.

My gosh , I don't show you pics , because I'm ashamed to have pimples at my age .

So this is what I do

Morning

Remove vaporub with simple sensitive skin experts cleansing facial wipes.

In the shower wash face with clear pore cleanser /mask from Neutrogena ,I put about 2 quarter size so I can give a little massage to my hairline , and my whole face and parts of my neck, behind my ears

I shampoo with a free sulfate shampoo , but I'm thinking I'm gonna have to use some clarifying shampoo , probably a cheap one , maybe , the one from suave .

Ok I shampoo first and then wash my face

Ok since I'm at home and hasnt gone out ,because my face is recovering,I haven't worn make-up

Ok then after I dry my face with paper towels , and I wet a paper towel to blow my nose , yes I break out if I rub my nose hard, then I apply jojoba oil using cosmetics wedges latex free foam that I get from target ,I don't want to use my fingers,I don't know if I might have fungus , well maybe I do , they are always dry and no lotion penetrates my dry skin.

Ok I get this jojoba oil its called now from gnc,I have tried organic, from another brand , can't remember the name , but I got itchy , oh and jojoba , before using the vicks , used to get me itchy too , but now you see I have less fungus on my face , hummm

Ok then I use the sponges and massage my face like I'm using a toner ,I use one for my clear areas and a different one for my troubled areas , to avoid spreading infection, after that I remove the excess of jojoba oil with a clean sponge.

Night

Wash face with clear pore cleanser/mask from Neutrogena, massaging a little , this cleanser doesn't have beads in it , what you will feel, it's the dry skin and the whiteheads coming out of your face.

Ok now pat dry with paper towel, wait until your face dries a little depending how sensitive your skin is feeling , sometimes I wait like 10 , I have never paid attention , well I blow my nose again , you know with a wet paper towel.

Ok then I grab some vaporub with a qtip and start rubbing with the qtip first my chin , then my cheeks then my forehead and hairline , I'm trying to avoid going around my eyes , well then my nose and I close my eyes as soon as I can , some people on the web suggests using gaggles to protect the eyes and probably removing them when it doesn't feel the vapors are too strong, because your eyes can water , ok then after I go to sleep on my back , but I have been sleeping and resting well free of pain from those pimples and the dry skin and the flakiness and the nightmare of thinking that my face is forming too much tissue inside and I might get skin cancer.

This is my last desperate meassure.I don't know what to do anymore ,I just want to stop this pain.

Again , this is what I'm doing ,....If you decide to do what I'm doing , and if you are scared, just try a little on one or two pimples ,I was scared too , and I felt like when the vapors of the vicks started working I felt it was burning my face ,, you can use your fingers , to apply , but I feel that if I use my fingers then I rub my skin more , oh I also forgot ,I use ,3 of those cleansing towels to remove the vicks ,because I want to clean my pores well with the cleanser.

Maybe you are wondering, but I can't put Vaseline on my face , well I can tell you ,I couldn't either put Vaseline by itself , never ,.

You will see maybe your pores getting whiteheads and would want to remove them , you won't be able they will retract , let them die , only remove if necessary ,very gentle ,remember that the skin will be sensitive , because the Vaseline in the vicks will be softening your skin,

One more thing ,I also had a fever blister when I started breaking out , maybe because all the stress , doctor game me ,1 gm valtrex a day ,I got the brand , the generic made me sick ,, so I will continue taking the valtrex until I don't have anymore pimples just to be safe ,I took the valtrex for 27 days , about a month and a half ago .

Then I have been taking the valtrex again for 7 days and using the vaporub for 8 , the pimples were really big , now they are a quarter big ,I first cleared in one month , this time it has been only 8 , my husband asked why do you take valtrex , you have pimples ,no cold

sores, oh last time I use valtrex the first 15 days when using vaporub , the other 15 days I wasn't using vaporub , the cold sore when away in those first 15 days , then after that the pimples came.

The vicks vaporub will only give you a new breakout only if you attempt to remove a clogged pore that looks like it's ready , nope , don't remove it won't come out , the vicks will dissolve little by little, everynight ,leave them alone ,remember demodex retracts .

Im at peace now ,I hope I can be of help to someone .

People might say , you are putting dangerous stuff on your face , so go on Accutane and antifungals and damage my liver .or like me used corticosteroids and damage my skin , thinning it , making it leathery forever , great .

I have a choice .

This is my choice ,a really desperate choice .

Ok then ,vaporub will start dissolving those pimples as I said little by little , if the face is too damage , remember its going to start peeling , little by little , don't despair. How long did it take for v the demodex to form caves , and eat the poor face or the hairline ,a long time , then its going to take some time for the damage to be undone then , but it will happen.

Little by little .

This is why I'm doing , read on the web, and decide for yourself , be careful not to get the vicks on your eyes , protect them.

Oh and I only use jojoba oil around my eyes , being careful that the oil doesn't go inside them.

I only wished that I had known about vicks vaporub sooner .

My dad who lives in Mexico , told me on the phone today , when I mentioned how desperate I got and he said , this to me , oh yeah ,vicks vaporub, yeah , when you guys were little , you used to get boils and back then there wasn't much things we could use , so we just used a qtip dipped in Vicks vaporub and rubbed on those boils for a couple of days and they were gone.

Oh also everytime that I grab some vicks vaporub from the jar ,I use a clean qtip ,I don't want to contaminate the jar , so use a new , clean qtip everytime you have to get some .

This is not a medical advice or advice to do what I'm doing, again this is my effort against with whatever decided to come uninvited and live inside my pores .im fed up.

Hope dies last ....I will be updating my situation as often as I can. Also I have learned that if I turn off all the lights in my bedroom, the mallassezia , gets killed faster , demodex mites come out at night .they like the dark.

Also ,the picture I posted , you can see av bump really big , actually its not that big , it shows like that because two of the pimples are around this little bump that was left after I had a cyst removed from my chin, at the end of the scar ,next to my lip , still on my chin, the scar formed this bump ,I have a little bump on the other side of my face too , but because of the scar the normal bump that I read supposed to have got a little bit bigger .

I took the pic in the worst setting , if I take my pic with my best , you could see only dark spots where the pimples were .

My update , my skin is improving ,I had a little pimple that came out 2 days ago next to the nose where I has like 2 or 3 , so I just left it alone , it look like it had multiple heads , so I didn't want to bother it ,this morning when I was removing the vicks vaporub with the towels, the whitehead came out and left a hole.

That is why I say , leave them alone , they will start shedding , kind of like dry skin,

The make-up towel removers , if put in a Ziploc bag with the opening to the bottom , they get more most.otherwise they feel dry .

Now I have been able to give my face a little more of massage and using the towels where the part of the towel feels less rough ,it feels better.

I have to use some vicks around my jaw ,cause I break out there too and around my hairline, the towels will remove the vicks from the hair too , and probably later I will buy a clarifying shampoo or a glycerin soap to remove the excess that won't come out.

I don't worry.

Right now I'm so optimistic, my face it's looking on better shape each day , the pimples are dryng , and peeling and drying ,I can't wait for the night to come so I can kill some demodex,.

I'm not delusional,I haven't felt this optimistic in years.

My eyebrows are not flaking ,I make sure to put a, little vicks there to.

And I make sure to wipe my eyes and eyebrows too, in the morning.

I can't believe even my brown spots on my cheeks are diminishing,

My white scars are getting smaller.

As I said , no heavy creams on my eyes , anymore , just a little bit of jojoba, that I can remove the excess of it, if it bothers me during the day.

One more thing, at the beginning I got really scared because my chin and my upper lip started to look dark , like purple , black , and I have red somewhere that before the vicks vaporub kills the fungus on the toenail , the nail might turn black , that that was normal , that it was the fungus being killed .I also asked my husband if this area of my face was darker than the rest of my face and he said , yes most of the time , and I thought , well maybe it was because that has been my most problematic area lately, and it was where the redness was and stayed most of the time, well ,that darkness is gone, it's turning kind of yellow now.but I got really worried and wanted to stop the vicks, when this was happening, good that I didn't , that area had the most infection , the rest of the face doesn't have pimples at the moment, it's mostly around the lip and chin area, not that they don't try to come , yes they do , but they die and exfoliate ,I only notice that I had two on my cheek from before using the vicks and those just stayed in there , With the treatment I was using at the time , so when I started using vicks then I felt that they started to get like a blackheads and what I did since they felt close to the outer skin ,I grabbed 2 pieces of wet paper towels and I have them a push and they easily came out , but really careful and only did extracted them, because they felt really hard , like hard sebum had formed ,and those bumps were inside my face for months , maybe a year , after that is the only reason I removed them, otherwise I would have not done it.

Sometimes it feels like a pimple wants to form and I just leave it alone and I don't even know what happened to it , it's gone .

Others I can see a whitehead almost to the surface , but if I try to extract it , nothing will come out , so I just let it exfoliate on its own now.

This is what I'm experiencing so far.

Sorry for the long postings.

I'm just trying to explain how I'm using the vicks , cause the web doesn't explain much .And I was thinking, this vicks works at night but then I have to make sure that I remove every trace of the petrolatum before I wash my face ,I don't want to clog my pores .

Thank you ,hopedieslast.

You are very kind .

I have been doing good, stopped the valtrex I think it was interfering with the Vicks , and yes my skin calmed down a lot.

I was getting discouraged, but no, the vicks is working fine by itself.

I hope that you all are doing better.

One funny thing happened,I ended up with greasy vaporub hair , so I did my research and before taking a shower pour some soda coke on my scalp and hair , left it for I don't know, not too long, just massage and made sure that all strands were soak and after that shampoo with some Neutrogena face wash that has glycerin ,(my husband's),cause I was supposed to shampoo with some glycerin shampoo , but that was the closest I had .And it worked.

It's so sad , noone comes here anymore.

has anyone tried coconut unsweetened milk ,well , my question is, have you broke out with vitamin b12, this milk has it .

That is the only thing new in my daily food intake , cause I don't really have a diet.

I'm ,menopausal, so I'm supposed to have some of this supplement.

But I have noticed that I can't have any vitamins or supplements without side effects.

I have been like this since l remember , except when I was a child and I was forced to have the cod liver oil,Scott? It was bad , my mom gave us this horrible syrup.

Good news: after some months of my treatment my symptoms are 99% gone and I would almost be ready to use the word cured.

I have no dandruff, no redness, no burning sensations, and my large pores have shrunken. AND this is whilst not sticking to my diet, downing coffee 2-3 times a day, being under extreme stress (top of my class in medical school), and doing all of the other things that would normally cause me to have problems.

I put hydrogen peroxide from the grocery store in a spray bottle. I spray it on my scalp first (needs the most time to work here), then lightly on my face and neck (this is an important step), on my appocrine glands (armpits, groin, ass), and then rinse the rest of my body with a gentle soap or AVC. Rinse it all off after 2-5 minutes. I apply a Pyrithione Zinc cream (I use Noble Formula) to any problem areas (actively red/burning spots) after showering.

That's my personal solution. I haven't used the Pyrithione Zinc cream in 2 months because I haven't had any problems areas in 2 months! If I need to moisturize I use Argan Oil. If I need to shampoo I do it lightly and with a product that doesn't irritate.

I have read a little bit here and a lot on other forums about people being worried about "free radical damage" and cancer from using HP. I strongly believe this is nonsense. Notice that I am recommending RINSING with it, however.

Any dermatologist that tells you they are worried about "free radical damage" to your skin because you rinse with HP daily you need to kick in the face and ask them why they only care about money. The free radicals that are generated kill the germs on the surface and the outer layers of your skin and have a very short life because they react with many things quickly. I seriously doubt any free radicals are reaching melanocytes or the dividing basal layer of your skin to any significant degree (especially when you rinse with water). Healthy skin provides a very effective barrier to most things except for UV radiation in light-skinned people. If you have an open wound, you would still want to apply HP regardless because an infection will do a much better job at increasing your risk of cancer. If HP solves your problems, you are effectively reducing your risk of cancer. Any disease/affliction that increases mitotic activity, causing your cells to divide more than they should, increases your risk of cancer in that tissue (this is an undisputed medical fact, with the only exception being benign prostate hyperplasia, the reasons and nuances about this aren't worth discussing with laypeople). And putting harsh, caustic chemicals on your face for extended periods of time, like many of the proposed treatments from both sufferers and dermatologists, would make me 100x more concerned about cancer and permanent skin damage than RINSING with diluted hydrogen peroxide (all HP you buy is diluted). As a large, multi-cellular organism, your body and cells are much better equipped at dealing with free radicals than bacteria and other small organisms. Our immune system actually generates Peroxide + free radicals to kill things (the technical terminology = oxidative burst of monocytes and neutrophils).

I highly recommend getting your thyroid checked and getting treatment for hypothyroidism if you have persistent skin problems. Just be warned that if you start thyroid drugs you will likely be stuck taking them forever. So only do it for serious, life-changing issues.

The only way to recover a thyroid naturally MIGHT be: regular excercise, healthy diet, getting good + regular sleep, reducing your intake of fluoridated water and taking iodine supplements. I say might strongly because none of that is anywhere near established science yet. The whole fluoridated water thing is a crazy debate, but I personally feel it is an unneeded risk to your thyroid gland (the other arguments against fluoridated water I don't agree with).

To flekkin ,....I'm really happy that you have found what has worked for you ,but I imagine that your skin is white and your hair is blonde .

Imagine putting the peroxide all over me ,and you might be right that the highest the peroxide the better ,I used to color my hair blonde when I was younger and sometimes I would even use sun in ,and I remember I never had any problem with my scalp or flakes ,I mean after I started coloring my hair darker I think that I started with the flaking and the bumps ,no wonder most women rather color their hair and kill all the fungus on their scalp .

What is the percentage of the peroxide that you are using ,you didn't mention it .

Because of you are going through ,you are going to be a doctor who will pay attention to his patients ,thanks for sharing .

I have hypothyroidism, and im taking synthroid.

3% works fine for me.

Yea I'm blonde and it will definitely mess with your hair color. Might be easier to manage the hair color/tone change from HP use than finding an alternative solution to skin problems though. Of course my solution might not work for everyone. My particular case was itchy, flaky, inflammed scalp and sometimes a red hot face and neck. Started during puberty.

I highly prefer the slightly bleached look than the flaky red flushed look.

Always rinse HP; don't leave it on skin or a wound for too long. I leave it on my scalp for a little over 2 minutes and less than a minute on other places.

To flekkn ,thank you ,I think that has proven one of my theories to why women keep coloring their hair .

I have always thought that peroxide kills germs .

When I get itchy on my scalp ,I just put some peroxide on the spot ,and it really kills whatever is there.

I have tried the 10%persa gel if I get lazy , and it works too, well that is what I mostly do, because if I put the liquid peroxide then my hair turns blonde .

I mean everybody here at home wants me blonde, they don't like it when I go dark , and going back in time ,that is how my problems started ,right on my hairline.

An update ....no more redness,no more burning on my skin above my upper lip,no more flaking eyebrows, and 3pimples are dead ,just the brown spot remained ,but they are getting lighter every day,

Only one pimple that still healing , it shows a little whitehead, but I think it must be flaky skin.

I wore make-up yesterday.

I have no more anxiety .

I think that this flare up is under control now.

I'm thinking positive that I might have this flare up going into remission.

I have no special diet ,I'm only avoiding dairy products, or if I eat, I eat only a little, like cheese.

I bought some organic mamma chia cranberry lemonade from target to help with my digestion and I also keep drinking the coconut milk that a serving in the morning before eating breakfast, and another serving in the evening after dinner ,around 6 or 7.and I think that this has kept me regular.

yeah im a man and i have dark hair so i dont think so hahaha

People use hydrogen peroxide to lighten their hair as i see in youtube though. Some people say that their hair are falling cause of it in the comments section so i dont know.

I am currently checking vitamins and diet to see what happens so i cant say if it works for me or not but the multi vitamins supplement was very promising as it helped me a little with this condition.

Hopedieslast...just be careful with the iodine in vitamins since it seems to make people break out .I mean if you have a problem with breakouts.

Sometimes our skin also needs adjusting to the topicals that we use ,according to the weather.

My vaporub experiment seems to be going well so far .

I'm doing my same routine, it's hard for me to see whiteheads peeking, but not big,and not extracting them, but it seems that way I don't irritate my skin and pimples or whiteheads exfoliate on their own.

I also have noticed that on an open pimple dab with a qtip will do better than putting extra vicks vaporub.

I'm still using qtips to apply the Vicks ,I got some cheap ones at the dollar store ,since they are bendable,it seems that I don't irritate my skin, and that way I don't contaminate the jar of Vicks.

I haven't got new pimples so far,and I have been wearing make-up.

Update ,regarding my vaporub use.I'm still using it at night ,sometimes i just apply with a latex free sponge..for the morning I was using the jojoba oil , but I don't know about jojoba oil anymore, it works fine the first days and then I think it blocks my pores.

So I stopped using it, but, now I don't know what to use anymore,I get really impatient when a pimple stays forever, the vaporub will take care of a pimple faster of its not squeezed.

So I had one that appear while using the vaporub on my cheek and I was impatient and I squeezed, and it kind of form into a pimple that didn't go away ,I mean it exfoliated but it left kind of a wart pimple, so I applied acnomel during the day and pretty much was gone by next day , when I removed the vaporub in the morning with the make-up remover towels , it exfoliated , like dry skin.

Does anybody get this kind of pimples that don't want to go away, and kind of need to be exfoliated.

I have really clogged pores.Sometimes I think that I have everything combined, rosacea, eczema, seborrheic dermatitis, and cystic acne.

Great!

My skin is almost clear , but the problem areas, are my upper lip and chin, kind of perioral dermatitis.

Also I ate too much sugar and breads during the thanksgiving holiday.

I think that all skin conditions react to sugar,....flekkin mentioned something like, he was eating a pretty unhealthy diet, but drinking coffee, and I read that coffee is now recommended to prevent diabetes.there are no specific studies I guess, but I was googling something like diabetes diet, and that is how I found this information.

Because I thought, maybe I need to go on a diabetes diet , no sugar.

But they include grains and I thought ,I can't have wheat , for example if I have honey nut cheerios with milk, for breakfast , an hour later I feel shaky and like I didn't eat anything.

Also I went and Google sulfur, does anybody here take any supplements and what is the dose and brand?

I'm about to go on a dairy/gluten free diet to see if it helps with my seb derm/chest/scalp acne. I always use canola/olive oil to cook my food, is this safe to use while on the diet?
Vegetable oils contain oleic acid which supposedly aggravates seb derm when used topically. But what about when they are consumed internally?

I tried all sorts of OTC and Rx . What helped me get rid of the multiple bumps on my forehead and cheeks was using Nizoral Ketaconazole a few times a week. Yes the shampoo as a face wash for just 1 minute gently rubbing and rinsing if all off in the shower. It was better than the rx shampoo and rx cream application. helped with the redness and seborrheic dermatitis for me.

That's great when read success stories.

Right now I'm still using vicks at night, on the morning the benzoyl peroxide treatment from, acne.org , and spot treatment with acnomel. , only a little since it can be very drying and also switched my cleanser to the Neutrogena glycerin soap original fragrance free .since I remember that is what I used in my younger years , that soap really strips everything out of the face , even make-up, and I have been using that bar of soap for my body too.Well, one for my body, another one for my face.My body felt like I was getting dry skin, but I think it was the soap removing the film from the cetaphyl soap.

I said , why not, that is the soap that people at the nursing homes use.

Now that I have it under control and am just in maintanence mode I am really hardpressed to notice any bleaching affects from HP (only using it every other day for about 1-2 minutes on scalp, spraying it and leaving it on 30 seconds face, neck, armpits, groin). I always completely rinse it out.

It seems crazy to me that people are willing to put benzoyl peroxide on their face for extended periods of time in a cream (all day?!) yet are terrified to briefly apply hydrogen peroxide to their face for 20-30 seconds and rinse it off. The mechanism of action is similar (free radical release from peroxide) and most BP products are something like 10% and the typical HP bottle is 3%. Also the difference between them is supposedly that BP penetrates MORE than HP. Presumably because of the more lipophilic benzoyl. So I don't see why somebody should be scared of a 3% HP apply and rinse, when they aren't scared of a 10% BP apply and SOAK all day.

Here's my reasoning for doing my apply and rinse HP method over the BP spot apply and soak method. I am basing this on the idea that certain skin conditions are caused by an adverse reaction to a microbe or microbes that are on the skin (or possibly mites). So let's say you have BP and you get a flare up. You apply BP to the spots that look bad and this helps those spots get better a little more quickly by killing the bad guys in that area. But, as soon as you stop putting the BP on those spots, the bad guys from the surrounding skin will quickly migrate back in and multiply. In the end you have changed nothing except for drying out a few areas of your skin in the hope that it will heal faster (and hopefully this didn't create scar as one study in the literature suggests that peroxide can increase the risk of scarring in some people when applied to an open wound). So instead of fighting this protracted battle, I do something else. I kill all the bad guys (or a large % of them), every day or every other day, on ALL surfaces of my skin above my collar bones in a preventative manner by spraying and then rinsing off/out 3% HP. This keeps them from reaching high enough numbers in any location to cause a reaction. That's my logic, and for me it has worked more effectively than even my highest expectations. I have no redness, no blemishes, fewer clogged pores (the sebum isn't accumulating nearly as quickly), and almost no dandruff. My hair is unquestionably healthier despite being doused in peroxide several times a week, and I even got my first tan in 10 years recently (skin doesn't get super irritated by sunlight anymore). Maybe this is just a coincidence, maybe I just got lucky, but I mean... holy shit?

I tried the internal methods as well - balancing my diet, ultra-low carb diet, gluten free diet, excercise, killing the candida in my gut with coconut oil, increasing iodine intake, reducing flouride intake, probiotics etc. The goal being to modulate/balance/boost the immune system. While some of these methods seemed to have some varying degrees of minor to moderate success (for those interested, consistent weight-lifting, iodine intake, and staying on top of brushing my teeth were actually the most noticeably helpful of all the things I listed), none of them gave me what I would consider a REAL solution to my skin problems. That being said, this is what worked for ME, and there definitely ARE some skin conditions that manifest as a result of internal problems. But my intuition tells me that traditional acne, SD, and rosacea (MAYBE certain types of rosacea) don't have their roots internally, or if they do, it may not be something you can fix, so you have to eliminate what your immune system is reacting badly towards.

@flekkin......I do believe that peroxide helps a lot , and I , like you think about mites in our skin.

I have been using the acne treatment from Acne.org during the day,I do apply with a sponge, and spot treat only with acnomel on the pimples that have form skin tissue.

I would wished that I would be able to use peroxide the easy that you do,but, I'm not dark but not fair, either, but I have heard of people spraying the peroxide before.

I apply the peroxide with a sponge because it seems that I don't irritate my skin that way.
