I have researched SD for a couple of years on and off now and have been a suffer for 5 years. After reading so much about this condition, peoples trials and experiments of trying to rid it, I feel very compelled to say this;
Be proud of who you are, a mirror is only a small reflection of you. So don't let SD get the better of you mentaly, remeber the fungus is a slave to you, not the other way arround. Keep smiling and remain possitive. 😉
I have come to the conclussion that in my case and other peoples, the cause is due to an inballance of good bacteria that make up the skins flora. I also belive that while one thing works with one person it may not work with another, this I put down to there being different types of bacteria that are out of ballance. It would be nice to think that there is a mirricle cure that will help all, and if there is such a thing then the person/company who descovers it will certainly be my best friend for life.
So what caused my SD? Having been pone to suffer sinus infections and after suffering food poisining, I had taken 4 courses of an anitibotic, (Amoxacillian) in a three year period, it was shortly after this that I had a really bad flare up on my face. Over the years it has moved and spread to cover my head, ears and random patches on my uper back and chest. One thing I have noticed with mine and being male, is where I grow hair it thrives and the skin is at its worse.
I have tried some thing including steriod creams that cleared it, then I saw some of the side effects of skin thining and decided I would rather have SD than the possibilties of the side effects. I no longer use any creams as I am a strong believer that this is not the path to take, even if it does apear to work. With this in mind I started to think about it completely differently and the following si why I have tried and the results witnessed.
Diet;
Cut out sugars, yeast products, (including bread) and introduced more live yoghurts in to my diet. After one month I did not experience one ounce of change. Then I started to read about antioxidants, my first thoughts was this is different, nothing ventured and nothing gained, right?
While many of the antioxident foods didn't work, there were two things that I did witness a noticable difference with. Red skined Apples and oddly, Spinach. At first I thought it can't be having an effect, but as I am very methodlical and as I changed one thing in my diet at a time it had to be so. I noticed that if I ate a red apple then the next day my skin had calmed down, not so sore looking. I experienced the same results with spinach. Unfortunatly I don't like apples or spinach and the thought of eating these every day was too much. Still, I will eat them when I have really bad flare ups. Maybe two apples a week and one serving of Spinach every two to three weeks. Why these two should have a noticable mild effect, I don't know? Maybe someone reading this may take it further and descover why.
I am still trying new foods that I have not eaten or tried before to see if anything changes, but have not noticed anything.
What else has an effect? As most of us now the sun works mirricals and with me it clears it completly, but come winter and its back again. Why should UV effect it? I do need to do some research of my own in this area, to understand why the bacteria seems to not like UV. I don't recomend sun or UV treatments because of the obvious, and I can understand and sympathise with the guy who posted earlier who has taken this route. I too have SD bad, so much so I shaved all my hair off and now keeps it very short, I don't try to disguise it anymore because wearing a hat creates a hot humid envioment that the yeast thrives in.
The thing that I find the most intresting in some of the information in forum posts with suffers of SD, are the snippets of peoples life style before developing SD. The woman who posted earlier who said she skipped breakfast, lunch and just ate dinners in the evening, this was my life style too before developing SD. I believe its this sort of information that is most important to understanding more about SD, what are the likly causes, what is the yeasts habits? We know it thrives in certain conditions, in sebaceous gland rich areas of the skin and likes Oleic Acid from the unsatuated and satuated fats that our skin releases. We know one thing it does not like, a well ballanced skin flora of bactiria. What bacterias exactly? It seems to me that there is not enough information out there to some of the important questions. I did read that laboritry teams are just starting to try and ID the thousands of different strains of bacteria that live in the skins flora. DNA is the method used for ID'ing them, and hopefully along the way of understanding which bacteria do what, will bring better understanding and prevention, as well as treatments for us that are less harmful and more dirrect in their working.
I know that sufferers of SD like me have desperate times where we feel so low that we are willing to try anything. I must stress, be strong and change one thing at a time, this way if something works you know what it is. Also learn about what your putting on your skin before doing so. There is every bit of chance it could do more damage than good. I am possitive that either a doctor will find a solution to the problem or we will beat them to it, in the mean time remeber your not alone, stay possitive and stay safe!

I was diagnosed with SD 26 years ago so the ups & downs of this are not new to me. However, I found your discussion of eating a red apple to be interesting. I enjoy eating a red apple every day but am currently having an SD flare up and have not eaten wheat in the past month. I'm going to try a probiotic, next.
No, it is not irreversible, there are many things you can do to replenish your gut flora.
I find it so frustrating looking at this thread and seeing people going on and on about topical chemicals. These cannot solve the problem, plain and simple they're band aids. It stems from internal imbalances so treat it at the source
The only thing that has a chance of long lasting results are fecal transplants, which are progressing at lightning speeds due to their efficacy over all medical Rx's.

I along with many others have had symptoms clear up and seen the skin heal by eating properly and taking the right supplements and fermented foods. Everyone's different, so maybe there are people who are so far gone that even dietary changes can't fix their problems, but if that's the case it would be the exception, not the rule. I hate seeing posts on these forums that suggest to people that their skin problems are so complicated and can only be fixed by some incredibly complicated regimen, or something like "fecal transplants". That's just garbage information and simply not true for 99% of these cases. I was almost suicidal at one point cause I thought my skin was screwed up beyond repair, and everyone was suggesting all these creams to me that just made things worse. But then I learned how simple all this stuff really is and how it's all tied to your gut health and digestion. I just wish this information was more widespread
Hi Wicky & others
I came across your post from a google search. Sounds like you were going through a rough patch a year ago. I hope things are better for you now.
What you're describing sounds to me like bromide toxicity, especially the link between thyroid cancer and RF. I have experienced similar symptoms (in particular the white head acne which seems to keep coming and hypothyroidism) though not to the same extent as you.
I suggest you test for iodine deficiency and bromide toxicity (you can order these yourself):

I also suggest that you consider looking at Hulda Clark's book 'the Cure for All Diseases'. She was a scientist and later naturopath who believed (along with numerous others) that microbes, nutritional deficits and toxicity go hand in hand. I haven't gone as far as she did in blasting microbes with electrical currents but have done several cleanses using her herbal remedies and make my own facial lotion, toothpaste, etc.
It really comes back to basics - remove irritants, excise microbes, reduce toxic load, cleanse the liver and heal the gut.

im doing worse than ever...just resorted to predisone to clear this current rash up all along the sides of my face. That plus the buildup of disgusting skin has put me in a really dark place. ACV never worked for me even diluted as it was way too drying. I use dermadoctors born to be mild several times a week but again its drying. I also tried granpas pine tar and it works fine on my forhead but no where else because 1. it doesnt remove makeup and 2. its drying. I never know what to moisturize with as i've tried jojoba and hemp oil but they dont keep me moisturized. My the redness from my seb derm is not in the usual places but all along the insides of my cheeks. I get these weird red patches and bumps as well. Ive also tried oregano oil internally but not on my skin. I like the idea of spraying the acv on and then rinsing off. I find each day hard to continue thats how bad things are..
where do you buy the pyrthione zinc spray?
Hi my name is michael and i have been suffering from SD for for 4 years now i have had it since i was 14 and i just cant get rid of it.
I have tried nearly everything but still every few weeks a have a flare up, can anyone help me out? I have been to a derm and he just told me i should keep using the steroid cream i was given daktacort but my face finally resisted to it and it has no effect what so ever.. Please help me!

1. Stop using corticosteroid /steroid creams immediatly.
2. Get probiotics asap. Try breathing your own milk/water kefir, sauerkraut and yogurt.
3. Find some natural regimen, acv/water rinse, real raw honey masks /not manuka, mix with a little bit of water so H2O2 can be released/.
4. Take Zinc supplements / about 30-50 mg/day for about few mounts and see how it goes/.
5. Never ever use antibiotics. Only as a lifesaving treatment.
6. Eliminate stress. Even if you do all above stress can provoke SD as nothing else..
Good luck
Hi i have had seborrheic dermatitis for many years and as a 12yr old i remember having dandruff.
I've always been eating bad and was overweight during my teens.
I have been following a strict diet now for almost 5 months and have been on the Candida diet for over 3 weeks so far.
I have read up on all of Moonset777 users posts and have been following his regime as he sounds very convincing.
Moonset777 if you can reply back to my posts that would be great.
I initially started on a no dairy diet assuming my condition was eczema but then self diagnosed myself as having seb derm even though the Dermatologist has confirmed it.
I had no clue that even fruit sugars needed to be avoided on the candida diet as i only cut out the normal refined white sugar/chocalate/fruit juices initially.
I have started buying into anti-fungals such as garlic capsules/olive leaf extract/extra virgin coconut oil as well as supplements such as flaxseed oil/Vitamin B complex/zinc and Probiotics with a 50 billion CFU which is quiet expensive.
I am monitoring myself and still have the breakouts but am determined to stay on the diet for at least 3 months as one of the benefits has been that i have lost weight.
The only thing i tell people who may use bicarbonate of soda on the scalp or face is to never leave it on for more than 7mins as i have actually burnt my scalp when i foolishly left it on for 10mins.
Its also good to spend time reading up on the candida diet before one throws themselves into it as then you can know which foods to avoid right from the start rathar than learn along the way.
I had to freeze my carrots after buying them not realising they cannot be part of the strict candida diet for the first 2-3 weeks.
I was having red skin and extreme flaking around my nose spreading to my cheeks and my dermatologist prescribed me a cream that worked amazingly well -
a protopic .1% Tacrolimus monohydrate ointment. Has anyone else used this? I just put it on every few weeks if the stuff is flaring up. The only thing is if I drink any alcohol it makes my face go as red as a traffic light, even if I stopped using it a few days previously
I'm trying to find something that doesn't cause this side-effect (sometimes I have to socialise with clients through drinking alcohol). I've been thinking about using Zinc Pyrithione creams - I've noticed here that some people here say you can build up a resistance. Is this true? Is a normal mild facewash any use?
Also, one thing I would say for people who have SD and aren't addressing this is you may want to look into lifestyle changes for anxiety - I think this is what caused my SD. Things like regular exercise, good sleep, mindfulness meditation etc
I've suffered with SD a number of years now, and only recently have I noticed that it had spread to my eyelids and immediately underneath my eyes.
One thing that is very noticeable in my life when these flare-ups do arise is 'stress', and I would suggest that stress and the direct result that this has on the weakening of your immune system is perhaps the primary contributory factor of SB flare-up.
I've decided to try and reduce the amount of stress in my life, by taking 5 minutes out when I do feel tension and anxiety levels rising and try and think about things in a positive way. Not only that, increase activities that get the adrenaline pumping, the blood circulating and those that increase serotonin levels (happy chemicals). As a measure to try and tackle the internal confusion of SB ie. the imbalance of good and bad bacteria and the obvious affect stress has on seriously reducing your immune system, it's good to use Nizoral 2% Cream regularly.
A combination of more exercise = higher release of endorphins = less chance of stress or a better chance of your mind being able to deal with stress in a more positive way + eating more healthy = foods that will help improve mood etc. + sunshine & exposure in moderation = increase in happy hormones & UV + A combative physical treatment such as Nizoral 2% Cream
All the above is without question the best thing any of us can do, and that's through thorough analysis. The trouble is, right now I'm in the process of moving and my job is very depressing and magically my SB has returned more vigorously. It's not a coincidence. I know what I need to do, reduce my anxiety, improve my overall lifestyle so that stress is reduced and get back on the Nizoral 2%, it's easier in the summer though, that's for sure.
Hi everyone.
I've come across a study that connects leaky gut to seborrheich dermatitis.
It's possible that if the leaky gut is healed then seb derm can be healed.
There is a ton of info out there on the net on leaky gut syndrome and how to heal it by staying of foods that can damage the gut lining as well as supplements like L glutamine and bone broth.
Personally just being on a candida diet has not helped much nor was i on it long to see the possible changes.
One should look into the Paleo diet which is meant to be good for the gut as grains are excluded from this diet.
I also believe the restoring your good bacteria is essential by eating probiotic foods and one must avoid foods that can harm the intestinal good bacteria.
I have more research to do and alot more to experiment with as SD has affected me for many years
Hello all, I just found this forum and the seborrheic dermatitis thread and instantly registered to be part of it. I was wondering these days if a forum existed about this skin condition so the people who are suffering from it could discuss possible solutions they have already tried or are planning to try in the future.
I've had Seborrheic Dermatitis many years now on my head(hair area) and sometimes on my face, i'm calculating around 10 years as when i was younger i thought i had acne but when i visited many Dermatologists, they diagnosed me with S.D. They prescribed me many creams over the years but nothing really worked for me and most of the time my condition became worse.I have a flare up every now and then on my face and my hair area is flakky and itchy.
The last 3 years i've been trying to control it alone with many possible solutions that are out there. That's mainly because the last dermatologist i've visited ,after waiting for 1 hour at her office to go inside and she was done with me in 5 minutes, she prescibed me 1 moisturizing cream that was expensive and did absolutely nothing at all.
After a lot of trial and error with many products my daily routine is the following.I wash my hair every day so the oil will go away with a anti dandruff shampoo(have 3 of this kind).I wash my face every morning and noon with water and wipe it with a clean paper towel and it cleans the face from the oil, you dont really need soap. At night i wash my face with a baby shampoo from Pharmasept (greek company) called tol velvet mild bath which is soap free ,parfume free and hypoallergenic. I think that any mild cleanser for the face without soap will do in this case.
When i have flare ups, every 15 days, one or two months in winter (in summer i dont have severe flare ups) i use ketoconazole cream 2%(fungoral cream) once at night for 7 days in a row in the affected areas and immediately the flare up retreats in the first 3 days.I have found that ketoconazole cream does the work for me right now and when i use it as a therapy when i have flare ups i dont have any SD symptoms for a month or two on my face.I haven't found anything that does the work for the head area. I recently have read a lot of stuff on the internet about this condition and found out that many dermatologists recommend ketoconazole cream as it is a good solution because it's tested in many people and it's well tollerated from the skin.I also use sometimes Aloe Vera based gel for the parts of my face's skin like my nose that are dried out sometimes.
I am looking for similar sollutions to ketoconazole cream which will actually make a difference and not just calm my face down a little bit from the redness.
I have already tried cleaning my face with sea-salt which made me worse, ketoconazole shampoo(fungoral shampoo) (therapy is 4 days in a raw) which didnt do a huge difference, moisturizing creams that do nothing and actually think they give the fungus food, strict diet with proviotic more vitamins more vegetables etc and not a huge difference on my SD, no SLS shampoos actually made my dandruff on my head a little bit worse. Also tried mineral oil on hair area and honey for my face but nothing really changed.
Many in this forum are talking about no sugar no yeast and proviotic strict diet, i am currently trying this out to see if it helps. I also have in mind to use Apple Cider Vinegar therapy for my hair as i have heard from many people it actually works.I have also heard that if someone can't control his hair's area dandruff he can't actually control his face's SD but i don't know if that is true.
Finally i would like to say to all those who suffer from S.D. that so many times i have stayed home due to my seborrheic dermatitis condition because my face is red in some areas and i am ashamed.People used to ask me why are your face red? I have skipped classes and when i have flare ups i feel so sad , so depressed i dont want to go outside etc etc. I think that the men here know the feeling when your confidence is low and you really want to talk to a girl.
Well guess what, people that get to know you and have relationships with you, like you for who you are and not for who your appear to be. Every each one of you is beautiful inside and unique. So go outside and do the things you want to do!!!!
And if this is not enough for you , imagine going out with your face and hair area clear, this is an amazing feeling for me and i feel happy everytime i have it, i want it.
Don't give up the effort to cure it.
I will continue posting here, i hope others will see this message and join us too.

Edit No1: 1-6-2014 . In order not make to many posts i will edit this post an update it until someone else posts under it. So im having another flare up and im having probiotics(yogurt) for 1 month or two , i tried eating egg, red skinned apple , spinach pie, no white sugar no bread but the flare up didnt seem to get better at all. It seems that the only thing that the diet helps for is less oily face and therefore malassesia fungus doesnt get bigger. I started again appliying fungoral(ketoconazole) cream for 7 days as usual to kill the fungus, this is the second day and its getting better already. After this i will try the ACV therapy on my head and see how it goes. I'll keep you updated guys, keep smiling ,life is too short to be sad nervous stressed or dipressed. Do what you like and be happy.

Hey guys, I also have SD. Last days I have mixed Himalayan Pink Salt with just water to create saltwater and pour it on my scalp in the shower. I dont measure how much salt I use, I just take some salt straight from the salt packet.
Rinse with water
Pour the mixed Salt + Water on scalp
Massage, let it sink in
Rinse very well
I have tons of sebum plugs, crusts etc. It actually feels better, doesn't itch as musch and my scalp feels more healthy.
Google Seasalt/Himalayan Pink Salt + Seborrheic Dermatitis and read more. Lots of people that said if helped them with SD, especially on Curezone forum
This condition is an immune system issue. It could be from viruses, hormonal or guy issues. I've tried since, biotin, Probiotics, tea tree oil, sulfur soap and gold bond lotion. All methods work but it will come back if you don't fix the underlying issue. I had gut issues from a virus. Once that settled the products started working for the symptom. Remember this is a symptom of a larger issue. Cure the issue and u can work on the symptom.
I have lived with dandruff almost my entire life. Living with dandruff + occasional redness on sides of my nose and behind ears + large nose pores was annoying but not enough to drive me crazy. Then my face starting getting red and itchy and my pores on my nose got bigger. So I started taking my health seriously.
I have read through just about this entire thread.
I also believe as others do that internal factors play a huge role in at least influencing the severity of the symptoms.
Intense excercise, low-carb diet with the exception of fruit (but no dried fruit), bottled water, and 5-10 2% iodine drops on an almost daily basis have completely restored my energy levels. I feel like I'm fifteen again. This has also helped my skin problems.
For dandruff + pores I tried so many things over the years. Here's the order off effectiveness for me:
Hydrogen Peroxide >> Unflavored listerine (don't use other mouthwashes listerine has antimicrobial oils in it >> AVC > tea tree oil >>> coal tar, selsun blue, nizoral, other typical supposed anti dandruff shampoos > head and shoulders.
Bottom line for me all the anti-druff shampoos were garbage, especially head and shoulders. They would basically work for one day then be useless. AVC was fairly effective but I needed to leave it on for awhile. Similar story with listerine though it was more effective. Finally I just started using hydrogen peroxide, quickest and most effective and when I stay regular it keeps my dandruff all but completely absent. Worked so well I even decided, screw it, I'll use it on my face too. Itchiness and pores reduced big time. My hair is more vibrant and healthy than it has been for a long time, since before my teenage years. I no longer get large whiteheads in my nose that I could make a friggin stonehedge out of if I felt like sitting infront of the mirror all day with a white/blackhead remover.
Yes, I realize I'm basically obliterating all the microbes on my head and ideally I should find a way to restore my normal flora. But if you have read this thread you'd know that nobody has a clue as how to do that so I'm just going to keep obliterating them all rather than let whatever it is - malassazia globosa, malassazia furfura, dermodex mites, or some type of bacteria have a picnic up here.
Unfortunately I still have some redness on my face that gets worse with intense excercise. It feels like rosacae now rather than SD because it's malar in formation and not in creases or beneath hair. Conjecture: It's almost like some type of type 3 hypersensivity or amyloid reaction or immune deposition as a result of an allergy to whatever caused my SD or to something unrelated - like an allergy to yeast, mites, pollen, or hell maybe even cats since I got the redness only since living with them. Whatever it is it is a slightly delayed response. If I can ever figure it out I'll update, but I'm hoping it is just a vestige of my earlier problems and may dissipate if I maintain my current regimen.
One last major big tip: argan oil. I use this to moisturize per say. I don't use it to treat my problems but it is the only moisturizer I have found that definitely does NOT exascerbate any of my problems and may even help slightly. So I would suggest if you are trying a treatment that you can't maintain because it is making you too dry give argan oil a go with it. I typically put it on my face after spraying my face with HP.
Some other minor things for those curious:
Don't waste time with extra virgin coconut oil - just go straight for the concentrated active ingredient: caprylic acid. I don't know if this helps topically or not but I have been downing it in pill form like candy. I know it does seem to work better than neosporin for cuts/scrapes (I bite the top and push it into the cut -it seems to be able to penetrate deeper than neosporin/ offbrand triple antibiotic pastes).
I'll be giving abreva and ZNP cream a go after reading about success stories with them in this thread very soon.
I'll also be giving probiotics a go.
Milk thistle hasn't done anything for me, though I never thought I had a liver problem.
Sugar (specifically corn syrup, sucrose, fructose) seems to be my major enemy diet-wise - I can tolerate caffeine and alcohol is doable.
L-lysine definitely helps at least a bit with making skin stronger.
Melatonin supplements may be worth looking into if your stress and sleep cycles are really off.
Check your body for hernias and try to stretch your groin and abdominal areas through yoga or whatever.
I had fairly bad cradle cap as a child according to my mother.
Sunlight helps but this isn't exactly doable on a 9-5 schedule. The no-ad SPF 15 sunscreen is absolutely fantastic though.
TLDR: I have two spray bottles. I put standard hydrogen peroxide from the black bottles in the store into one and use it on my scalp and face (scalp at beginning of shower and rinse it out at end). I put standard apple cider vinegar in the other spray bottle and spray it on my apocrine glands (armpits, groin, genitals, butt-crack). I very very lightly scrub the rest of my body by spreading around some of the AVC. I use absolutely no soap and no body lotions, just HP and AVC in the shower. I moisturize with argan oil after showering and whenever I'm dry (a mild tea trea oil + chamomile product is decent as well such as derma - e itch relief). Dandruff + whiteheads/blackheads are 95%+ gone but redness remains an issue.

How did you find out about the virus? Did you get a blood test done?
Can you share the name of the virus which was found, so I can ask my doctor for a smilar test?
I have seborrheic dermatitis around my eyes. One thing that helps my seborrheic dermatitis is natural sea salt. At first I thought it was weird, but i actually experienced results immediately! I just to have to find something to put on afterwards, like a lotion. I'm going to try that argon oil from sephora also.
But first I would grab a bowl of warm water and sprinkle some sea salt into it, then I would rinse my face with warm water to open my pores, next I would soak my face in sea salt water, and lastly I would rinse my face with cold water and pat dry,. And when get a hold of that argan oil to add to my regimen.
Hi all ,
Hi Georgie girl and welcome to the forum.
I will start by saying to flekkn that i have read for you have written but i dont trust so strong drugs like hydrogen peroxide because i have heard thats its possible to damage the skin .
Georgie girl i assume that you got this cure from this guy from cure zone who uses black sea salt . I have read all the thread , the comments etc and i have tried washing with mediterranean sea salt first , but my rash on the face got even worse and at that time i was even afraid that i damaged my skin . But it got better after about 1 week .
I am currently searching about diet tips associated with seborrheic dermatitis, cutting off sugar alcohol white bread eating veggies etc sleeping well taking probiotics from yogurt and stuff, but it didnt really change my skin much. I follow all these steps, wash my face twice a day with this :
and washing my hair daily with andi -dandruff shampoos like head and shoulders and others.. I shave my beard every day or every other day(apply after shave lottion with alcohol) and every 14 days my face is starting to get red in some spots , like right to my nose and on my forehead or beside my eyebrows. If i dont shave i get red spots on my chin too . So when this happens i apply every night on the spots ketoconazole cream (fungoral cream called here) for 7 days. Usually if i dont let it get worse in 1-2 days most its gone. Here its winter and its getting harder to controll it cause i have to shave every day which i dont do in summer . I also exersise 6 out of 7 days and drink lemon juice with water in the morning.
I must tell you guys that the only effective thing for me is ketoconazole cream (fungoral cream) that keeps it away and kills the fungus. The dermatitis appears sometimes at 11 days but it still goes away with this cream.
My hair are not in the best condition as there is flaking but they are ok , they look clean and healthy.
i recently stumpled upon this site which shows the effectiveness of ketoconazole on people and shows also some statistics.
[Edited link out]
I would like to ask everyone if they have tried this cream for 7 day daily and if they found it effective especially in long terms.
I am also concerned about "tachyphylaxis" to ketoconazole if anyone knows anything about it
tachyphylaxis:Rapid appearance of progressive decrease in response to a given dose after repetitive administration of a pharmacologically or physiologically active substance. (from medilexicon)
I would also like to say that we should stand all together united against this skin condition and would like to ask you to invite other people from all over the internet , to visit this forum and this thread and exchange opinions of what worked and what didnt for them.
I am sorry if i am not allowed to say other sites; names or post links . I will remove them if it's a problem.
I'll keep posting in this forum untill im totally cured.
HopeDiesLast
Hi everybody !
Its been awhile ,it means I had been managing my skin ,until 2 months ago ,everything went downhill again ,back ti the dermatologist ,who wanted to try the ussual ,well no and no ,im sorry I have tried everything ,everything ,antibiotics, flucinonide ? Synalar from mexico ,which worked while using it ,then massive boils and weird itchy pimples ,cysts? Yeah that is what I ended up with ,I had 3 removed from face ,well by the time they were removed ,they were just old black indententions ,after that ,oh Accutane to repair ,then all antibiotics ,retin a ,which by the way messed me up totally ,never use retin a on a scared face ,hello ,never ,im sorry ,im so angry ,this time the dermatologist wanted to send me to the uc special doctors at Stanford ,hummm ,and for sure a neurologist ,well this time my face got sooo dry and flaky and itchy my eyebrows were flaking ,I couldn't open my eyes ,come on they were dry but I still had to keep wiping them with wet towels ,I had to stop putting everything on my face ,I have used antifungals too ,they just make me more itchy and pimply .I'm 52 ,but I have had this since I remember ,so I what did I do ,I Google and this time I was so desperate ,my skin has white scars from the retin a ,plus probably from the scratching .
So I stopped everything and I applied vicks vaporub to all over my face ,at night ,I mean the first days I think I went overboard ,I left it overnight ,I did this right before I turned off the lights and went to bed ,I had to sleep on my back ,so next morning I removed the vicks with about 3 simple cleansing facial wipes ,not the exfoliating, the regular ones ,I wash my face with the clear pore cleanser/mask from Neutrogena ,
I'm not saying that i recommend this ,all im saying is that I was so desperate ,I felt like my skin was falling into pieces,it has been over a month ,no more flaking, the brown spots are clearing and the white scars that when looked with a magnifying mirror ,looked or looked like they have a middle red point are clearing ,I have seen some red looking kind of splinters coming out of them when I remove the vicks in the morning, using the wipes ,if I get a pimple ,that has some pus ,I use the wipe upwards toexfoliate and if its ready it will .
It has been over a month of doing this ,I try to not let the fumes go in my eyes ,but sometimes my eye taer cause I really had to apply to my eyebrows and around of my nose a little bit more,,my chin which had the most infection and also the top of my lip ,where I pluck, sorry im hairy ,sometimes I have to pluck my whole face ,well thats menopause to you al.
I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism about 12 years ago ,before that I had bad eating habits ,never ate breakfast .
I have changed my diet ,cause nuts and citrus fruits either break me out or make me itchy ,all berries too . I'm currently eating bananas and apples only, the fruits that I hate ,lol.
I stopped putting jojoba oil or any other thing on my body ,my only shampoo is loreal everpure sulfate free color care system ,the pink ,with rosemary mint .and im letting my hair go gray .
I will try to post ,about what I will do after the vicks vaporub ,....its funny ,my husband when we go to target ,always asks me if I would need vicks vaporub .
Im sorry but I was going crazy with this stupid fungus that has ruined my face ,,,the dermatologist call it ,eczema ,seborrheic dermatitis ,rosacea ,huh ? ,hummm or just guessing .
Hi everyone
I am not entirely sure if what I have is actually seb derm, although in a strange way I am kind of hoping it is so I can at least get some ideas on how to treat it. So far I'm just at a loss to what the condition is so I'm reluctant to start spending a lot of money on various things.
I should point out that my skin is only like this when it's cold. In the summer, the only problem I have is a few large pores on my cheeks and nose which I can very easily disguise with a good primer. But every autumn/winter since I was about 16 (now 22) my face has looked like this and honestly I haven't stopped crying for about a week now. I'm just so desperate. I'm a different person in the summer..fun, smiley, happy, confident! I can;t even remember now the last time I walked anywhere without looking to the ground. My social and work life suffers so much every single winter and this isn't me. I'm so desperate for answers now.
Penny penny penny ,hum im not an expert ,since I have been given many diagnosis, not even the dermatologists are sure ,I mean they probably don't want nothing to do with me at this point. If you can and have access to one then go ahead , it's good I mean probably great if you could find a good one . And never use anything unless you do some research too.
And if something doesn't work by the time they tell you its going to work , then its not.
I have used many acne treatments but something always fail , and I usually flare up right about September or October , red skin ,dry ,like nothing penetrates the pores and then flaking and breakouts ,nothing works anymore ,my daughter was using ziana ,she did for a year , her skin cleared , this was after years of using proactiv, so then all of a sudden , redness all over , the nose, the cheeks and the chin , not really on the forehead , then back to the dermatologist, she wanted to prescribe corticosteroids ,I said no , no way , that is what messed up my face on the first place.so I just found some over the counter stuff , and that is how we manage.
See when your skin starts behaving like that , that means the skin barrier has been compromised , sometimes it could be because of too much exfoliation or lack of it .
I really wish you the best.
Ok , here we go again , vicks vaporub, well, what can I say, it got rid of my dry skin , it was beautiful while it lasted , but maybe for not using protection around my eyes ,I ended up with a dry eye ,I should have listened to the girl on you tube, gaggles ?
Well as of today back to my usual.
Neutrogena clear pore cleanser/mask
Deep clean cream cleanser,in the shower ,Neutrogena.
Simple make-up removers facial wipes ,the sensitive kind original, not exfoliating.
Neutrogena salicylic acid orange toner ,fade ,something
My swisspers cotton original not exfoliating
Acne.org ,peroxide treatment
And clean and clear dual action moisturizer.
Sigh.
Just manage ,maybe I will dab a little vicks vaporub on big cystic pimples to prevent them from exploding., they make a mess and take forever to heal ,.....I'm really tired .
Where is everybody?
I forgot to mention,I think I can't stand alcohol now or salicylic ,any suggestions for a good not alcohol glycolic toner?
Ok , the more I read , about this seborrheic dermatitis, the more depressed I get , so I shouldn't read then , cause I get all stressed out,I have done almost everything that everyone has done or tried here, the acv , the candida diets ,the anti salicylates , no sugar , im feed up ,I went and had ice cream last night .
I don't even know anymore,I don't know when this thing is going to flare up again ,I told my husband,we can't make plans ,I don't know when I will be having a flare up,anymore.
I'm just taking it one day at a time, and trying to control whatever it has been on my face since I remember.
And like most of you I have missed many events, and social gatherings.
Sometimes my husband doesn't understand.
When my kids were growing up,I volunteer at their schools and one day my son said this to me, I hate people looking at you like that ,mom. He wasn't mad me ,he was mad at ,the people,.My grown up kids now .They have never been ashamed of me .probably that is what have kept me going.I have hypothyroidism now ,and I have had it for about 12 years now ,and it seems that the seborrheic dermatitis started after that ,I mean probably before ,I. Just used to called it acne, because even before my acne used to go out of control .
Thanks for listening.
Dear PennyPennyPenny i would also suggest you to visit a dermatologist .
My face looks like yours at the left and the right of my nose and chin when i have a flare up . I would say it could be seborrheic dermatitis or rosacea. I have seborrheic dermatitis by the way.
Noche maybe this topic is innactive but we could invite some people here to share our opinions. I at least am active and will be until im totally cured.
I know how you both feel i have stayed for many days inside my house cause of the shame being red. I'm always looking for new treatment and test products to see how they go .
2 treatments im currently testing are No1 multi-vitamins (especially folic acid and viotin, deficiency=Seborrheic Dermatitis) and No2 Sudocrem which are very promising
2 other treatments that are also promising are green tea remedy and ACV for the hair
I also follow strict diet no sugar alcohol lots of fruits yogurt sleep well and no anxiety.
washing my face with a gentle cleanser every night.
when i have a flare up i use ketoconazole cream daily for sever days .
I feel like i am currently controlling it and plan my life in the future. Remember hope dies last
