hi moonset, I was diagnosed with rosacea but that was before this outbreak flareup from the finacea. Ihave not seen the derm since I broke out this badly.
I did use the zinc oxide cream last night which was a disaster! never put a gooppy paste on your face...what was I thinking? sigh
my bumps were weeping by the time I go that all off.
it looks like I have poisin ivy. I used the baking soda again this morning and it felt goodused witch hazel which felt good also and then applied make up....
I am calling my derm tomorrow to get an appointment.
thanks for your support.

Moonset,
Been eating 2-3 cloves of garlic at lunchtime with tomato, cucumber, broccoli, celery, onion. I have started on acidlphiud probiotic and flaxseed oil caplets twice a day. My left side near my hip hurts. Is this bad or is the antifungal working. I know garlic is known to be a blood thinner. Should I slow down. Just want to get rid of this candida and red face .
Thanks again

I think you are overdoing something and by the sounds of things it is the garlic. You can buy garlic capsules easily enough and I would stick to the recommended dosage on the bottle, that's the form of garlic I am taking and it works fine. A few years ago I started doubling up on my zinc tablets and my whole right arm and shoulder started hurting, I went back to normal dosage and problem solved!!!
Moonset,
Thing is I'm Asian and I've always eaten garlic. They are in foods my mom cook growing up so I actually like garlic- I know weird. It may be more garlic than usual but I've eaten 5-6cloves before maybe not for 2 weeks straight like now. My diet is better but I caved in after a week- only 1 night though and had a sundae from coldstone. I tried hard not to and admire people like yourself who have this willpower. I admit this is Sooooo hard to do. If I were to do that it will be ok once in a while. I lose it. Damn wife eating ice cream and snacks while we watch a movie. But since I do garlic and flaxseed and picking up caprilyc oil this week, I am still doing better regardless right. Help this is driving me crazy.
Thanks

Only way to find out if it's the garlic is to ease off it for a few days, if your symptoms improve then too much garlic may be the cause. It may also be yeast die off symptoms. It does take a lot of willpower and patience but if you want to be rid of the SD it's what you have to do. Anything containing sugar is about the worst thing you could take. You will still be making progress even if you do have little slips from time to time as long as they are rare occurences.
Has anyone ever tried Yakult to restore gut flora?
My take is that probiotic capsules are fairly useless and only probiotic foods have any real gut restoring value.
I know dairy is generally a no-go for SD sufferers but can the positives (6.5 billion beneficial bacteria) outweigh the negative effects of milk on the gut?
This got me thinking.
I've had SD in some capacity for half of my life now (I'm 26). It started out on my scalp then after several years went to my nose, where now it can spring up on any area of my face and ears as well.
It was manageable up until about 5 years ago when I had to take a double dose of antibiotics after I had my wisdom teeth taken out. It exploded at that point and I've altered my diet and used some of the topical remedies mentioned on this board to get to a point now where it isn't too bad but of course, it still bothers me.
Up until that point where I started taking antiobiotics I used to eat/drink whatever I wanted: McDonalds, pizza, alcohol, ice cream, breads, cheese etc. I would only ever get a patch of SD on the sides of my nose every few weeks and I'd put a tiny amount of cortisone on it once and it would disappear for another few weeks.
Now I have cut out wheat, dairy, a lot of sugar/fat and alcohol etc but the SD persists.
I guess my point is, is it possible (once gut flora has been restored to reverse the effects of antibiotics) to go back to that point to where I can almost eat whatever I want (within reason) as long as my gut has been returned to its former condition? Or is this just wishful thinking?

Hi nbar,
I would agree. My take on SD is that it is caused by unhealthy/unbalanced gut flora which can be caused by use of antibiotics which kill off the good flora in the gut and allow bad flora/candida to take over. This situation must be addressed I feel and is the reason why that SD is a chronic disease unless treated internally.
I also think there is a lot of evidence to suggest that 'leaky gut' can play a major part in the cause of SD and this is also connected in a way to unhealthy gut flora. Not only should sufferers look into restoring their healthy gut flora but also repair their gut. Things like liver flushing and colon cleansing can have great benefits in achieving this, some would say these steps are necessary.

yep. Lucky for you, it took you many years for your SD to spread. For me, i had SD only on my eyebrows. for about a year. Than my acne flared up and i went to a derm. The fucking derm prescribed me antibiotics for 6 months and the rest is history. Now i have severe seb. derm all over my face, which consists of MASSIVE flaking, redness, and weird skin tone.
Has anyone here tried corticosteroids or elidel? I want to use one for like a week or two JUST to slow down the sd and than try a liver cleanse and healthier diet

i have a post in the blackhead/non-inflammed section as i feel my complexion is not very good.
[Edited link out]
could anyone tell me if i may have some sort of fungal infection. the main problem i have is with skin texture and oilness. thanx for looking
looks normal to me. You actually have very nice skin. I have enlarged pores like you too, but more so than yours.
I only have noticeable flaking when I wear make up. Is that considered sd or dehydration? I moisturize regularly and drink tons of water. I just started my acctuane course and the flaking seems to have gotten better a bit. But I've never been diagnosed with sd. My current derm took a very very close look to my skin and he said its not sd. I do have what appears to have some flakes in my eyebrows but it looks as more of dried up moisturizer that gets caught in the hairs, i have thick eyebrows.
The flaking is usually around active acne. Is that a way of the skin healing itself?
Hi, Were I stand its difficult I started taking B6,B12,Biotin,Folic acid,Vitamin E and Aloe Vera at night. The Vitamins its been 4 days but my face has gotten worse redness has came out more on the eyebrows cheeks forehead its frustrating cause I read that having a deficiency of these vitamins was the cause of DS,ezema, rosacea,Psoriasis. So now Im taking this multi Vitamin that has everything but in lower doses what do I do this condition is so fustrating. Can someone tell me what has helped them thanks.
Hi Moonset,
Thanks for your input you have been a wealth of information. I have another question.
You mentioned in an earlier post that you use Garlic, Coconut Oil, Grapefruit Seed Extract, Pau D'Arco, Olive Leaf Extract, Apple Cider Vinegar as anti fungals to kill the nasties in your gut and you rotate these every 4-5 days to avoid the candida building up a resistance.
My question is what quantity of these antifungals do you take daily? Also I've read about oil of oregano being a highly potent antifungal. Have you ever tried it?

Hi nbar,
Every day I take
9am: 1000mg Flaxseed Oil, 15 mg Zinc, 1 Antihistamine tablet.
11am: Antifungal
5pm Antifungal
8pm: 1000mg Flaxseed Oil
11pm Antifungal.
I stick to the manufatures guidelines on (I'm sure each different product varies slightly) the antifungals. For example If I'm using the garlic for 4 days I take 2 X 500 mg capsules 3 times daily. Pau D'Arco is 2 grams daily. Coconut oil 1 teaspoon 3 times daily. ACV 1 teaspoon in mineral water 3 times daily. I spread my daily dosage out and take at 11am, 5pm and 11pm. So just work out how many capsules or how much oil you take daily and take it at the 3 times. I found this to be more beneficial in the fight than taking all my supplements in the morning as I felt I was constantly fighting the yeasts without giving them a chance to recover.
I tried oil of oregano and found it very beneficial but didn't use it for any great time as it is rather expensive. Olive Oil is good too but must be extra virgin and as fresh as you can get.
Hope I have answered your questions. If you have any more don't hesitate to ask.

Don't get too downhearted about it. There's ways of dealing with that. Lots of info in this thread.

Acne creams will do you no good mate. This is a fungal infection and you can throw creams and lotions at it for decades and it will resist those and in fact get worse. First things first you need to change your diet drastically, cut out all sugars and I mean all. If you get time please read all my posts in this thread. You'll have to go back 10 pages or so I think???? Anyway read up, it'll be worth your while otherwise this thing is a lifelong affliction unless dealt with properly.

DOOD, just let it be. That is nothing to worry about. It will go away when it goes away

I've had SD on my cheeks and between my eyebrowns. I also have Tinea Versicolor (white spots) on my neck and underneath my eyes.
HOWEVER, ever since I came back from my trip in Asia, my SD areas are not red anymore but they are turning into white spots just like my white spots.
I have read that SD and Tinea versicolor are related because they are both fungal infection.
Does anyone here have tinea versicolor?
Okay, so i gone through a lot of suggestions for SD which i was diagnosed on my scalp. I saw the derm because my hair was really thinning. I have tried the shampoo and the steriod gel but if i stop using it the flakes and irritation come back but my hair is still falling out.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to stop my hair from falling out?
I found a product on line called Derm Essentials that is all natural oils to help stop the SD but i have not found anything to help stop my hair from falling out. Am i going to go bald before it clears up?
