Hey everyone,

So I am currently in that place where my self-esteem is so low I cannot leave the house. I cry at my reflection. I have a phobia of my face.
Make up is a great way to make me feel better, but I am struggling to find a foundation or bb cream that does not break me out. Badly.
I want it to have an spf as well, and I can't find a moisturiser with one that doesn't break me out.

I bought seventeen blemish balm (BB cream) and I have applied and it looks like it has a nice finish, not great coverage but it helps conceal my acne. However I am terrified of that moment when you realise that the product is the devil and then I have to cancel my plans for the week and recover whilst crying. Ironic as it is meant to help me GO outside.

Anyone had a shot at this or have any suggestions?
xxxx

I have tried:
Maybelline BB cream,
Garnier BB cream,
Clinique CC cream
Laura Mercier tinted mosituriser
Simple moisturiser with spf
not crying, doesn't work

Hi,

My thoughts are with you hon. I really hope you can find something to work for you.

How do you apply your makeup? If you use a beauty blender, I would say, immediately trash it. Those things pick up dirt/oil and just re-deposit them all over your face, and they're way more difficult to clean than brushes.I stick to these application guidelines myself, they have helped me:

Sometimes, I get in a rut where everything seems to break me out. That's when I know it's time to stop, re-evaluate how I'm touching my face, and go back to basics. If I forget myself and wipe my face too hard when applying moisturizer, then I'll break out. It sucks, but at least I know my weak spots.

Like the link above says, I stick to sheer, lightweight, fragrance-free tinted moisturizer. My favorite is Urban Decay Naked Skin One and Done hybrid complexion perfector, which does contain spf 20. I then go over and spot-cover with concealer over any red spots. I usually alternate a green color corrector and the concealer.

The One and Done isn't a Beauty Balm, it is a bit thinner in both consistency and coverage, but I think it does a really great job. I'm still looking for a concealer that I really like.

I would also recommend neutrogena pure and free Liquid sunscreen spf 50. It comes in a small bottle, and is definitely very liquidous (not a cream). The thin, liquid consistency has yet to clog up my pores. It of course can be applied directly to the skin underneath moisturizer, but it's the easiest thing in the world to mix it with acne.org moisturizer-- voila! moisturizer with spf. I also like to mix it with the tinted moisturizer, too, to beef up the spf value.
