Recently a male friend of mine shocked me when he said he's been wearing some sort of makeup for some time now to cover up some of his deeper pink and purple acne marks and discoloration. I knew he had acne before I met him, but since I've known him he's had a clearer complexion, much clearer than mine. Barely a blemish.
Now, I'm not too wild about the idea of wearing makeup as a guy, I don't know if it's a popular thing to do for male acne sufferer after they've cleared up to cover up the resulting marks or not. All I know is my complexion is pretty bad and my discoloration (blotchy red patches along with spotty purple marks) really make me look bad in person, but 10x worse in photographs because it shows up as even darker spots...
So I was wondering, (for the male posters on this forum), do you use anything to try to cover up your acne marks or not (And if so, what)?
I don't but it has definitely crossed my mind a few times when my scars were extremely bad. Youtube has a ton of info and how-to videos about using makeup to hide acne scars/marks so I'd go check that out. Seemed like too much trouble IMO.
Yeah I've been hesitant on doing it. Mostly because A) I would have no clue what I'm doing or using, and B) I'd never want to get called out for using it one day by my friends or family. But I suppose the latter would depend on what I'd be using if it were noticeable or not.
Wish there was something different than "makeup" to use for guys, although anything to cover up your face would be perceived as makeup... The struggle of acne scars... haha
I used to do it. Got pretty good at it.
I would actually apply a tinted sunscreen (Ti Silc back then - don't think they make it anymore but there's a brand called Neova that may work) . This gave me a good base and the I would use Neutrogena liquid makeup on top of that. It's really a matter of practice.
When you have a lot of bumps its only a minor help but I had a lot of redness and discoloration, so it was good for that.
It's one of those things that you have to practice and you'll get pretty good at it.
Eventually after I cleaned up my diet all the redness and pigmentation issues were gone. Even my scarring improved. By that point I had outgrown the makeup and my skin literally transformed over a few months of turning my diet 180 degrees.
