The oil cleansing method with grape seed oil completely ruined my skin. It was the worst mistake I ever made and my skin is worse than it's ever been.

Since I tried oil cleansing, I've gone back to taking my make up off with wipes which just further irritates, but I'm not sure what else to use. I've heard good things about cleansing balms, but they all seem to contain some kind of oil and this worries me.

What do other people use to remove their make up? Does anyone use cleansing balms? Clinique's Take The Day Off Balm seems to have some really good reviews, but again contains safflower oil. Has anyone tried it? The last thing I want is anymore cystic acne!

Hi there! I was right into using the oil cleansing method and it helped me move away from using harsh products on my skin, and I am now the clearest I have been since acne graced my skin with its "wonderful" presence, so I'm pretty bummed that it hasn't worked for you. Have you tried using different oils and blends? A lot of OCM sites list the many oils and what type of skin they suit. I use distilled Witch Hazel on a cotton bud to remove my make up and that does the trick, followed by my normal cleansing routine. I hope you find something that works for you :)

Have you ever tried jojoba oil? It seems scary having the word oil I know because I have very oily skin. But something about the jojoba works really well for me. It takes away the hard to remove makeup and doesn't clog up my pores at all.

I have moderate to severe cystic acne and i use to use Neutrogena make up remover wipes, but it would literally rip off my scabs and i would bleed and it was an absolute mess and didnt usually get all of my make up off. My mom then suggested i use olive oil. man does that stuff work!! because olive oil can be a little expensive, i invested in coconut oil instead. it comes in a big jar, is cheap, and lasts for a really long time! simply scoop some out of the jar and the second it touches your hand it melts so i roll it around my hand to melt it a tad then proceed to lightly rub it on my face. i then get a paper towel and lightly wipe the make up off then shower with hot water in the beginning to get it all off my face then wash it. try it out!!
