Im currently 14 years old, and Ive been struggling with acne for around 2-3 years. I used to be on a regiment of dapsone gel in the morning, arazlo (tarazotene) at night, as well as 100mg minocycline taken once daily. It controlled my acne pretty well, but I recently started breaking out again and the doctor (in America btw) said to continue my course, and if it didnt work, to then start accutane. I then visited a doctor in China (peking university shenzhen branch one of the best in the nation) and they simply prescribed me a 12 day course of doxycycline with fucidic acid and a retinoid, and then gave me 10mg isotretinoin (Im 64 kg btw)to take daily afterwards (she didnt ask for any blood testing, only for weight and any medications I was currently taking). Im currently 4 days into my isotretinoin, and I want to know what results are realistic and what I should do. Will it take longer than normal accutane? By how much? How does it impact side effects? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I'm not exactly sure what your questions are but here are my attempts at quick answers:

Results: About 2/3 of people clear up completely on isotretinoin. At least half depending on what studies you read. It can take a month or so for them to really show up.

Side effects: Potentially lifelong. Isotretinoin permanently changes your entire body. For instance, my joints have never been the same (I don't think) since I took it. You can never be a fighter pilot (due to eye changes). And you may be drier forever. I have to use lip balm several times a day for life. There are also tons and tons of other side effects. Accutane is not something to be taken lightly.
