I know this is an old post, and i've just started looking around for people who have similar symptoms but if anyone can give me an update on how things are for them i would really appreciate it.
My story: i was on accutane for 6 months with no severe side effects. About 8 months after being off accutane my acne came back and my doc. wanted me back on accutane, well Claravis because they stopped making accutane. Anyway i took the first pill and had noticeable ringing in my ears and a little pressure too, but when i woke up in the morning it really wasnt there anymore (i had to really strain in a dead quite area to hear it). Nonetheless, I knew it was one of the symptoms of accutane so i immediately stopped taking it and called my doc. He told me to wait 4 days and try again. So thats what i did. The second pill caused significant ringing in my ears, i noticed about 30 min after taking it that everything was really loud and i had greater pressure in my ears. This time the ringing has not gone away! I can now hear it practically all the time. Its a huge pain. It's very noticeable to me but i wouldnt know how to rate it...severe, moderate. I know accutane can stay in your system for a long time so i still want to hold on to that little bit of hope but if its unlikley that the tinnitus will ever go away please let me know.
I took the last pill on wednesday it is now sunday and i still have lots of ringing.
Good news! Thought i'd maybe give hope to others who suffer from this but the ringing in my ears has diminished significantly. Given theres still some and it fluctuates but overall it is much better than a couple days ago. Also have started taking zinc supplements, for acne, which may have helped the tinnitus. Nonetheless, i dont plan to go back on accutane any time soon.
/sigh at the returning acne on my face
@switch124 - I'm glad to hear it's settled down a bit! I'm having this same problem, just started clavaris a few days ago I'm so disappointed this was my last hope
but I'd take acne over this ringing in my ears any day
