Yaz was AMAZING for me! It cleared me up completely after about 4 months. I stopped taking it because I had been on the pill for so long and I was worried about the long term effects of it, but now I wish I never stopped taking it.

I have been reading up a lot on BCP for acne control. I don't have severe acne, just the occasional breakouts, but I have extremely oily skin and BCP is supposed to help with that (those with anti-androgen properties like Diane 35 and Yasmin). I tried Diane 35 first as it has the strongest dose. It did help, I didn't expect a miracle, as my skin is still very oily if I don't blot. But it takes a longer time to get very oily. My friend also commented my skin is less oily.

However you need to monitor yourself as everyone experiences different side effects. After 2 packs of Diane, my serious ones were chest pains that came very frequently, and also shortness of breath. I read online and it is one of the more serious side effects that indicatated blood clot issues, which is common for Diane 35. So I changed to Yasmin as I read Yasmin is also good for acne, although the dosage is lower. I am still in the middle of my first pack of Yasmin and my chest pains have mostly gone. I will still continue to monitor.

It is not as effective as Diane I have to say. I wish I could get on Diane again but the chest pains were too scary.

the nuvaring made my skin beautiful almost instantly

but i went off it pretty quickly due to mood swings and the increased risk of blood clots.

(everyone is different, but for me, third generation birth controls and all of their negative health side affects are not worth it.)

I gained 20 pounds over a 4 month period and have since lost that and then some but I gained it because I was on Loestrin which is like the safest one out there with the lowest amount of hormones. Trial and error.

Yaz is a moderate estrogen pill that only works for acne because it contains a low dose of spironolactone (around 15 mg). Very few women will clear acne on that low a dose of spiro. Personally I had to go up to 75mg spiro to clear, so Yaz would not have cleared me either, but my acne is clearly hormonal.

Has anyone every experience getting off birth control and having really clear skin (literally nothing) for about two months and then breaking out some, but more than I was on birth control. Just wondering what this means and if anyone has experienced the same thing. thanks so much!

The best birth control is no birth control. To change/balance your hormones, don't pump your body full of synthetic lab created chemicals that completely STOP your body's rhythm of producing its own hormones. In the long run, it will probably give you gut dysbiosis and screw up your hormones more (when you get off them) worse than you ever imagined.

Cut wheat, dairy, sugar and anything else unhealthy out of your diet. Take cod liver oil. Eat a very nutritious, organic and balanced diet. Take VITEX to balance female hormones naturally. Good luck.
