Hi!
I'm a 19 year old girl on 40mg a day for the next 6-7 months (into my 2nd month rn). I did a liver test right before I started and my doctor said my results were very good and everything was in great condition.
I finished my freshman year of college and drank very little but around the end of the year I found that getting a little tipsy really helped loosen me up and I felt so much less anxious and had a better time (I was struggling to make friends and I found that it helped). I'm not at all reliant on alcohol to have a good time or anything but now that I've just started accutane this summer, I'm a little worried about not being able to drink at all. My doctor didn't say anything and the instructions in the accutane box didn't mention anything either but I have heard some people say it is very dangerous to drink anything at all. Would something like 3 shots one night a week/ two weeks be problematic? Anyone have any experience? I'd love it if I could drink just a little but also don't want to permanently hurt my liver either. Thanks!
Hey,
ive been on 2 courses myself and drank on both.
I'm quite a big drinker when it comes to a special occasion. What I used to do was to stop taking accutane a couple of days before the "party" let's say, and a couple of days after until the alcohol would have been out of my system and then continued with accutane as usual.
I have no idea on this theory I just did it as a precaution..if you can even call it that lol. I never had any issues with side effects or any blood work throughout the entire course.
There were days when I would have a more social drink and continued to take accutane as normal. Alcohol passes through your system much quicker than accutane.
Put it this way, if you are drinking in moderation and not excessively, you should be just fine. Why not have a couple of drinks and see how your body reacts, see how you feel. Listen to your body. Go from there.
