When do antibiotics start to work?

I started Doxycycline 100mg a week ago. No improvement, my acne looks just as bad if not worse than it did before. My GP told me it would take 4 weeks to improve, the NHS website says 6 weeks, but a lot of people online are saying ti's supposed to work straight away, so I am now convinced that seeing as I've been on it for a week and nothing's changed it won't work.

I was on 150mg twice per day for six weeks and saw no results... other people are on 50-100mg per day and see results in a week. I think they usually recommend using a skin scrub like benzoyl peroxide

So do you mean after those 6 weeks it did start to work and you saw results? And is 5%hydrous BP gel OK do you think?

Antibiotics always seemed to work pretty much straight away for me and always cleared my skin but eventually they will stop working and my acne came back worse. My advice would be to try and find the root of the problem, antibiotics are not the answer in the long term.
