I was on Accutane about eight years ago, my first ever course, and it worked well for about two-three years after. The initial breakout was horrible though and lasted a good 4-5 weeks.
In between that time and now, I've had certain breakouts that I could control with OTC products but all the derms I'd see did not think I needed to go back on it.
I've been breaking out quite badly in the last couple of weeks, and went to see a new derm who put me back on it AND a course of antibiotics for a month.
1. is this normal? to be on accutane AND antibiotics at the same time?
2. is a one-month course really going to do the trick for accutane?
3. is there an initial break out if you're doing accutane for the second time? If yes, how bad are we talking?
Really hoping to hear what some of you might have to say. it's really quite shitty going through this alone
Antibiotics are prescribed to deal with initial breakout that accutane can make, but antibiotic can't be from tetracycline group(tetracycline, doxycycline, minocycline) because it's dangerous(even very dangerous). After that month I think that derm will prescribe more accutane, without antibiotic because month of accutane won't do anything to your acne, and only expose you to side effect of accutane.
