Hey,

I've had moderate acne for 4 years now and decided to go on and see my dermatologist for accutane. I have been prescribed 20mg for 5+ months. Every forum or discussion I've ever read shows people are using 40mg and over, or their dosage increases eventually! I've also read that 20mg is too low and if you're not getting dry skin then accutane is not working.

I'm on 40 days of accutane and only have dry lips and sort of dry skin. I see no improvement in my acne as of yet. Is anyone else on a low dosage like me or has finished a low dosage like this and can tell me the effectiveness?

Hey man, I'm on 20mg and I notice my lips are dry and my skin is definitely less oily. I only have mild acne so I'm guessing thats why I see improvements only 15 days in, but its also possible that you're experiencing your initial breakout phase right now. I believe accutane is different for everyone, some people start improving right away whilst others take 4,5,6 months to improve and others dont improve at all till right after the course.

As for 20mg being effective, lose dose accutane studies have shown that both low dose and regular dose are equally as effective at clearing acne

Hey! I really appreciate your reply and going out of your way to link me those! I read through them and all my worries have faded haha.

Thank you I guess I'll be one of those to see improvements a bit later on like you said
