I recently turned 15 and I have started to get really bad Acne. I started getting acne when I was 14 and I only got a few small pimples occasionally. Now I have large acne cysts on my chin, the sides of my face and forehead. I have lots of blackheads and white heads on my cheeks and my nose. I have used face washes such as Cetaphil and Proactiv and that didn't improve my acne. I went on antibiotics to clear up my acne and that didn't work. So now I want to go on Accutane however I am scared of all its side effects. What should I do?
For most people accutane works wonders with only the mild side effects (dry lips etc) happening. Rarely people experience the harsh side effects, and those are the ones that end up writing about it to this day. Most people go on accutane and have their acne clear up, therefore they never really visit these sites anymore.
It's really your choice. I had a long talk with my dermatologist and she assured me that in her 25+ years of practice, she has not seen a single adverse effect of accutane. Personally I would rather take the plunge than live with acne for the rest of my life.
