Differin gel questions and need for support

Well, I'm new here. First of all, I wanted to say that my first language is not English, so previous apologies for possible spelling mistakes!
I'm a 17 year old girl. I've had acne since I was around 12, and I've had better and worse times. This last year wasn't my worst one, but it was still awful for me. Now, I've just started a treatment with Differin gel 0,1. This is my 11th day and I got a very bad breakout. I believe my face hasn't been this bad for a long time. I've read in some forums that this initial breakout is a normal reaction, and I really hope it doesn't last too long... Did anybody try this gel and get the same reaction the first days? I'd really appreciate if you guys posted oppinions and personal experiences about this product.
Also... I feel ashamed to go out. This is weird for me. I'm an active girl, I love going out, partying and spending time with my friends, but I just don't want people to look at me and stare at my scars and zits! I didn't tell my friends about it because when I've mentioned it in the past the answers I would get were: "Oh! Don't worry about it!" (Aha, it is really easy to say that when you don't have it on your face...) or others would dare to ask: "Do you wash your face?", "Do you eat healthy enough?". Omg, I clean my face everyday as a ritual, and I do control my nutrition so much. This comments are not useful at all. Anyways, what I was looking for by posting this is a chance to chat, a chance to get to know people in the same situation and see if hopefully someone is willing to give some of their time to encourage me a little bit about it. Thanks so much everyone.

Hi! Well first of all, the more you stress about it the worse it gets (trust me). I have been using Differin gel for about 9 months and my only advise is- be patient. The gel works in a way to bring all the bacteria up to the surface of your skin so it may take a while before it gets better. I started seeing great results after about 3 months! After this phase has passed, you're going to notice that the gel helps heal the pimple a lot quicker, and they are not as deep as they used to be. I use it everyday before bed and I put a moisturizer over it because it can be quite drying. Because you're so young I really don't think this has anything to do with your diet, it's just your age and it will go away.

Thanks so much! You're the reason why I'm going to continue with it despite my awful breakouts! Hope I get good results as you did!!

Hey sb333. I am in a similar situation as you and I was wondering if you are still using differin and if it's working for you?
