Hi all- my first post here. I've been struggling a lot lately emotionally because of the acne I started getting at the end of last year. I've always had some acne as a teen but was able to get in under control and become clear from age 19 up until the end of last year 25. I'm now 26 and devastated I'm dealing with this all over. I got onto accutane in March and am almost done with my treatment right now I'm about 5.5 months. However I'm still breaking out and each break out I'm left with red marks and I'm so upset. Things cleared up but then seemed to migrate to my right cheek and area i never had issues with before. I used to mainly break out on my forehead. Now - near the end of my treatment sure it's looking somewhat better especially on the forehead but basically to me just as bad as it was prior to on my right cheek. More than anything I'm upset with the marks and wondering if these are permenent marks or more post inflammatory hyperpigmentation.  And should I be concerned that this is what's almost 6 months on accutane looks like ? I'm on 60 mg a day at only 105-110 lbs. any support would be helpful as I'm feeling super down and blue about all this. image.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpeg

You appear to have a couple of dots of hyperpigmentation, but mostly post inflammatory erythema.

Hyperpigmentation can be improved by getting prescribed hydroquinone by your dermatologist.

Post inflammatory erythema will need time to fade, but you should moisturize and be gentle in the mean time. My red marks took several months to fade but I had a lot more than you. I say to moisturize and be gentle because the skin is healing, thats why its red. And avoid too much sun exposure because that can turn the red mark dark, hyperpigmentation.
