Accutane for mild-moderate acne

Hey!
im new to this website but I was hoping to find other people in a similar position to me!
I have had mild/moderate acne for about 10 years now. I had previously tried many prescribed medications and ointments for it but nothing ever worked. I was also put on the contraceptive pill and tried every over the counter product imaginable.
I had researched accutane so much for so long and I really thought it was my only hope, even though it's only usually prescribed for acne cases a lot more severe than mine. I went to see a dermatologist anyway and was very willing to beg for it but was prescribed it anyway and am now in my third week.
i just wanted to know if anyone here has been on accutane for a more mild case of acne and could share their experiences with me to give me more insight, as most causes and journeys I've seen online have been from much worse cases than mine. I currently take 30mg a day and will go up to 40mg from my second month. I already have very dry, swollen and burning lips, my skin is much drier (it doesn't get oily which is wonderful) and my hair doesn't get greasy anymore, I could probably go a week without washing it! Also, I've had an outbreak worse than my skin has been in quite a while, it went quite quickly but then dried off in a bit of a flaky mess! :(
Thank you for any responses :)

Getting prescribed accutane doesn't always mean you have to have super severe acne. It also how to do with how persistent your acne is in terms of how long you've had it and what other pills/medications/topicals have failed. Have you looked around on Youtube? I know most vids are people with severe acne but I've definitely seen at least a few people who have taken it for more moderate/mild acne and they have videos sharing their experiences!

^Absolutley. You don't have to have severe acne. 10 years sounds like enough suffering to me, talk to your derm and make sure they understand your problems and length of time.

If you think you need it, that decision is up to you.

I've seen people on here taking low doses for mild acne, as low as 10 mg every few days or 20 mg. As long as you know the risks and are willing to take it, go ahead and ask. I think the lower the dosage the less chance or side effects.

I have already begun taking it and listed the side effects I've been experiencing in the original post. Was just curious as to anyone else's journey as most people's I've seen are for severe acne and just wanted to hear some more insight from similar situations!

Hey, can you give us an update? I'm in a similar situation and am currently considering accutane, so any insights would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
