Hi, I've never joined a forum before, so here goes...!
I'm 46 and have a prescription for 20mg of isotretinoin. I am yet to collect my tablets! I've held off because I am due to go to a wedding and was told by my doctor my skin could get worse before getting better. I am planning on starting them next week.
I am really worried about the side affects I must admit. I have watched a few clips on you tube where the advice for creams etc has been very informative and I've written lists of what I'll possibly need!
I've just come across this forum and have really appreciated reading information from those of you who, like me, are over 40!
I have had days where I think can I just put up with my bad skin, but after reading some of your messages I feel motivated to do this and suffer all the side affects. I would love to be able to say I am spot free!
I have had acne since I was a teenager and have tried so many different forms of medication, skin cleansers, make up!! And spent a fortune too! My skin is very oily. I would say I've had mild acne and always hits the t zone. Oily hair too. And from going to the gym and sweating I often get painful lumps come up on my back. Not too many, but they are sore. So I think enough is enough. I will try these tablets!
If anyone has advice on a good chapstick, please let me know.
Thanks
I really like Aquaphor Healing Ointment Advanced Therapy for chapstick! It comes in a tube and you can use it other places too! I've been putting a bit underneath my eyebrows every night before bed because that helps with avoiding dry eyelids. Also be sure to drink lots of water! The more water you drink, the less chapped your lips will be
Hi, I certainly hope this is the answer you need.
Along with good lip balm and eye drips, carry facial moisturiser with ceramides and no fragrance, hand cream and maybe ask your Dr if you can take fish or flaxseed oil pulls ( its the good kind of oil). And tissues in case of nosebleeds which are common.
Also take your meds a meal containing fat like peanut butter or ice cream.
Just to be safe have you had your hormones checked? There are things you can do to keep oily skin away once you're done with the course.
