hello, friends
i am 20 ,and suffering from acne since 5 years initially i was having just a little ones on my forehead and cheeks ,but from last one year ,it wass a like hell on face i got pustular and cystic acne,,,,,,(boom ) that ruined everything , my face wass full of acne on cheeks on forehead . finally i go to derma he prescribed me erythromycin 500mg thrice a week for 4 week ,(before abt 2 years ago that in initial breakthrough i take it and it was really effective with minute side effects), and along with he gave me a topic ointment of NADIFLOXICIN & ADAPLENE which turn out to be very effective seriously , i told my derm that i was on clindamycin but it results to sun intolerance so this time he gave its alternative ,ya i feel dryness but not to that extent ,
and finally after a month my antibiotic course in finished now time for accutane so i just want to know is it really effective ,he gave me 20mg for 15 days but i surfed and read reviews and side effects of it like depression ,joint pains ,bone density, lipid, etc so please help me should i take it ?
Only you can decide if the risks are worth the possible outcome. The lowed the dosage the less severe side effects. Personally speaking I'd never consider accutane because it can and has caused permanent damage and not everyone's acne is cured. But many people say they are glad they took it. Research the hell out of it before you take it...20 mg is a relatively low dose.

thankyou ! But i my case was insane since i m from india where weather is humid and hot now i turn skin is oily ,resulting into breakthrough followed by scar .
a 15 day course? From what I've read you're supposed to be on it for 3 - 6 months at least. I'm on a 3 month course subject to change when I go visit my dermo at the end of it. 20mg is a very low dose so it's probably the best starting point if you're scared.
As for should you take it? have you tried taking the holistic approach first? I still think that's the best way to cure acne. I was on a holistic approach and worked out my acne triggers. Anything oily like junk food or korean bbq breaks me out and it doesn't stop for a full year. After that active pimples stop but I'll be left with hyperpigmentations for months after.
Snarkygirl - I used to be the biggest hypercondriac. I was so against accutane and scared of all the side affects that I was reading. But over a decade of acne, it has finally taken its toll and I threw in the towel. I actually bought my isotretinoin 1 year ago but after 3 pills my feet skin started to peel like crazy and I was getting crazy ringing in my ears so I stopped. Fast forward to now I had a date with this chick and while we got on like a house on fire I could tell she was distracted by the acne sometimes. So I pulled out the drugs and started taking it. 3 weeks later my hyper pigmentations that would linger for well over a year has faded maybe 40%. Existing acne has died down from day 1. I'm still breaking out but they are recovering so much quicker.
The only side affects I'm getting is super dry lips and dry eyes. Also I can tell that I will bruise easily cause when I rub my skin it turns red pretty quickly. Luckily my profession isn't the UFC or something

Thats good. Its all about weighing your options. Not everybody will react badly but I have several factors against me so I've opted not to go there. I'm super biased against it from my boyfriends experience but many people don't get depression.
I agree about the odd dosage though...15 days doesn't make sense.
