Im a 19 year old Filipino woman and this is my first post so forgive me if i make any huge errors.

So ive been on accutane for slightly over a month. I had oily and comedogenic skin for several years and had acne all over my body; my face, chest, back, ass, legs, etc. and lived in a tropical country which only exacerbated them. I was prescribed 20 mg of accutane for 6 months and so far so good.

No major emotional side effects, no back pains, experienced mildly dry eyes thrice at best, my skin has been the least oily its ever been without being uncomfortable and my comedogenic acne has gone down leaps and bounds, almost completely gone from my chest and legs and almost halfway gone from my back and face. Problem is that I seem to be having an outbreak of cystic acne. I usually only have one every 3 or so months but mow i have at least 4 or five new ones at once every week. As quickly as one would go down another would pop up. Its frustrating and confusing since ive been researching for weeks for a reason but cant trace one.

For full disclosure, Im not on any form of birth control because my doctor didnt offer any (which i know is weird but my country is very religious and the politics of birth control and contraceptives is still being debated), ive always had irregular menstrual cycles and i still use the daily topical acne medication my doctor provided me (which i also know is suggested against online but she told me to continue so i did). Lots ofbenzoyl peroxides and toners

You need to at least use condoms, spermicide or something...accutane causes horrible birth defects.
I understand, my acne got more cystic and its freaking annoying. Idk do you put hot compresses in them or crushed aspirin.

Thanks @snarkygirlyeah its been a couple of months now. 0 comedogenic acne but still a couple of absurdly painful cystic acne. Ill try the hot compress thing. Asprin, probably not, theyre not common here (along with the birth control pills, divorce and gay marriage. I love God and my country but they need to learn what separation of Church and state means)

Talked to my doctor and she had no explanation for it. Lucky for me im a virgin and single and google every medication i take for side effects just in case but im still bothered why she didnt even warn me (and probably many others) of the possibility of birth defects because she thinks im not having sex.

Glad that its getting better for you. I think given the whole course you will see good results. Doctors over here legally have to make girls sign a contract that they are on birth control, 2 forms. Even if you're a virgin. Many doctors just are not that with it, here's well.
Ha talk about politics, look at the choice America has for president...a sociopath career criminal and a megalomaniac jerky misogynist. I don't know how I can even vote!

Accutane is probably purging your skin that's why the cystic acne is happening. It normally get's better around month 4.

Have you tried Azufre (cream and soap) ? In the Philippines you can buy the equivalent soap called Dr, Hofman I think.it is a sulfur soap . Anti microbial. It dries your skin but works well for acne. Is available at any supermarket or pharmacy .
