Hi everyone!
I've been reading acne.org for a loooong time, but never actually contributed. For background info, I am almost 20 years old and used to have GREAT skin up until I was about 15 or 16, when I decided it was cool to slather on anything I could find and ruined my perfect children skin with acids, fragrance, alcohol, the works¦couple that with a mom who LOVES to tan and me not having any idea what sun damage could do, I was pretty much wreaking havoc on my skin on a daily basis. After a couple of holidays filled with sunbathing every single day, I noticed that my pores were expanding (seemingly) by the day and I started getting blackheads in every single visible pore (cheeks, nose, chin). I was mortified. I got a few cysts and hormonal breakouts as well, but nothing too major. I then went on a mission to get rid off my unsightly blackheads and stumbled upon Paulas Choice and have been using her products exclusively, until I discovered Biologique Recherche about 3 months ago...However, the blackheads never seemed to budge, so I got angry with my skin and pretty much exfoliated the shit out of it every single morning and night (BHAs, AHAs, retinol, Taz all at once). Still not a huge change (a little, but still VERY visible, even with make up). About a year ago, I made a weird observation. My skin was CONSTANTLY shiny. Like, extremely shiny - not a cute look. Even right after powder, it was shiny, BUT it wasn't oil. I couldn't blot anything. And my face always feels/felt tight. When I look up close at my skin, it's as though there's a second "layer" on top of my skin that I can't get off and it's all crinkly. I have no clue what this is and can't get rid off it, even with moisturizer. Well, anyway, my blackheads were getting worse and worse, so my derm proposed Accutane as a last resort. I agreed and am now on 40mg/day (I weigh 1230lbs/5'10'') I'm about 2.5 weeks into the treatment and my skin is HORRENDOUS. My blackheads are basically screaming "HELLO" and no amount of make up can cover them up, I have a big breakout on my forehead - I NEVER breakout there - and in other areas I have never broken out before (ears, anyone?). So, I continued my harsh regime. I currently use:
Biologique Recherche Lait U, P50 Lotion, MC 110 Lotion, Complexe Iribiol, Creme Dermopurifiante, Paula's Choice Moisturizer & Serum and in the morning I apply Elta MD UV Clear on top.

So, my question/concerns: I know I should probably stop using all this on Accutane, but my skin isn't really flaky except my eyebrow area, creases of my nose and my lips¦it might be dehydrated underneath? Is that why it's so shiny/crinkly/weird? I'm terrified to stop though, because I've gotten so used to it and I feel like my skin has too, so if I stop, my skin won't be smooth any longer & potentially get worse? I feel like I've really hurt my skin over all these years but really don't know how to "repair" it. Ugh.
Sorry for the novel! I appreciate any help/answers :) Thank you!!

An update: skin's getting drier and I've stopped using any harsh products. Now my routine looks like this:
MU remover: Bioderma
cleanser: either Glossier Milky Jelly or Paula's Choice Softening Cream Cleanser
toner: Paula's choice calming toner
serum: Paula's choice light anti oxidant serum
moisturizer: PC skin recovery moisturizer & CeraVe Lotion also for eyes
lots and lots of aquaphor & glossier balm dot com for lips
so my skin doesn't look as shiny and crepe-y anymore, but it's still there. And my blackheads are going nowhere :( it's driving me INSANE! My nose looks so dirty...
